I don't think the lyrics have a very direct meaning, but they stem from his cynicsm of style, beauty, or niceness. it amused him too much in finding sense in such ugly ideas and language. that's why In Utero is great....

The suicide note didn't actually mention anything about suicide until the end, which was written in noticeably different handwriting. Kurt's credit card was used in the days following his death but before he was found, his herion levels were 3x lethal dose, suggests he was incapacitated. I completely agree with the oddness of his death.........I don't personally know what happened but on the heroin debate....he had x3 lethal dose for a non heroin addict...not only was the man a junkie, but he was also a rock star, a regular street junkie probably wouldn't die from "x3 lethal dose" and regular street junkies run out of money to get more heroin, kurt didnt run out of money and I'm sure always had a connection, he probably had to take x3 lethal dose to feel anything.

@claytobren It's really unfair to compare Pearl Jam and Nirvana because they were going for different things. Pearl Jam was the traditional band set up with guitarists who actually studied guitar and they were trying to be about something. Nirvana was the raw, edgy band who just didn't give a f--k and were singing about how effed up their life was and how much they hate stuff. They're both great in their own individual ways and they both completely succeeded at what they were trying to do.

@5oulPower dont lie to your self this may have have been popular during the grunge era but nirvana is classified under punk rock. you can even hear the styling of punk in almost all their songs. heavily distorted guitars and bass the heavy drum lines and the almost obnoxiously loud vocals. this was labeled grunge but in utero was even produced by steve albini to get the "back to basics" punk feeling . and personally i love punk rock and feel that this is the greatest album of all time

Not sure if you know how drugs work, but you don't instantly die if you inject 3x lethal dose of anything, it takes time, plus he was an avid heroine user. Also, I don't think there is ANY credible evidence that his credit card was used outside of mere speculation.

For me (and im 32 years old) been a fan since 1990 - since i got the cassette of bleach in my dads 2car garage (the apt we had overtop of garage) my older brother had a band back then late 80s, early 90s etc, etc years later i took over the 2nd floor room above the garage...anyway being from that era...even young i had all the albums...remember the songs lyrics like it was yesterday when it was really 18, 19, 20 years ago...this was the first band i truely fell in love with in before knowing

@claytobren It's really unfair to compare Pearl Jam and Nirvana because they were going for different things. Pearl Jam was the traditional band set up with guitarists who actually studied guitar and they were trying to be about something. Nirvana was the raw, edgy band who just didn't give a f--k and were singing about how effed up their life was and how much they hate stuff. They're both great in their own individual ways and they both completely succeeded at what they were trying to do.

This isn't punk... Its grunge! Note the metal influence mingling with the punk in the music. And don't give me shit about bands who don't like being labeled. We're not trying to classify them when we say 'grunge'. Its just a calling name for a bunch of bands who have a common thread running through their style and if we didnt have that word we would have to call them one-by-one! 'Grunge' is short for 'Nirvana and Pearl Jam and Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots and Alice In Chains'.

@5oulPower dont lie to your self this may have have been popular during the grunge era but nirvana is classified under punk rock. you can even hear the styling of punk in almost all their songs. heavily distorted guitars and bass the heavy drum lines and the almost obnoxiously loud vocals. this was labeled grunge but in utero was even produced by steve albini to get the "back to basics" punk feeling . and personally i love punk rock and feel that this is the greatest album of all time
