Adventism comes from being a Seventh Day Adventist thus being a part of the Seventh Adventist Church. The word adventist itself means "waiting for the 2nd coming of christ" , on which the church's doctrine is crafted. Famous adventists, at least just music wise, include Brian McKnight, Take 6, Little Richard, Prince (f), Kirk Franklin etc.... and the list goes on. Adventists are known for keeping the Sabbath day, thus going to church on Saturday as well as their vast pool of talented singers.

I know that's right! Although 1989 is a tad before my time (I came in '93), OC was the same in my day. Not sure if you've heard of Duawne Starling, but he came just after Brian and was well known on campus for his voice as well.
