bless you BCR, i really fear that in my life i will witness so many amazing cats become extinct, Its a damn tragedy,. My egyptian mau reminds me of cheetahs
One major problem cheetahs appear to have is hyenas taking their food, that happens two or three times in a row and a cheetah could starve. Has anybody considered shooting more hyenas as a part of the solution? I mean one or two guys with a jeep and a fal rifle could make a sizable dent in hyena populations...
@icebear1946 The hyenas stealing the Cheetah's food is not a serious problem, sometimes it happens, then the Cheetah's simply hunt again. Killing other animals will result into nothing but a blow to the local ecosystem of the Cheetah. The best way to help the Cheetah, like I said in this video, is to stop the invasive and unwanted plants.
funy, when i was in namibia and south afrika, all the people complained about the masses of cheetahs roaming on their land....they said seeing a cheetah in namibia is like seeing an elk in sweden...
obviously nature is gona be destroyed and it's gonna be all humans unless we give them their own planet :P and then they will probably evolve into cat people LOL
So theyve been rescued only to be trapped in these enclosures. How ironic.I dont know which is worse.Extinction or Torture.Extinction I'd say. There must be protected ranges(1km2 absolute min per cat) or nothing. All or nothing.
@rananim3 All or nothing is a surefire way to make sure these cats do go extinct, we need to protect and educate. We rescue our cats from bad CAPTIVE situations, backyards, fur farms, circuses etc... and provide them with the best life possible in captivity :)
@ Big Cat Rescue, Scott Lope ,if I have your name right You said in the video, "cheetah's don't often end up homeless and at BCR is it that they are few and far between in the pet world? ,If you search the Internet you actually can find cheetah kittens for sale,or that cheetah owners don't often relinquish there pet. ie. because they make desirable pets? hence sold or given to another cheetah enthusiast or even zoo whos glad to aquire the cats being that they are indangered no import ?

Just a question, but I thought when animals inbreed, like the horses for example, its better than if they mix. Why is it different with cheetah's? Thanks
There is a very good chance that Cheetahs will go extinct. All wild Cheetahs are just to genetically similar. One small illness could wipe out the entire population.
I have heard that zoos around the world are trying to genetically diversify the captive cheetah population so that they could be released and help thin the genetics in the wild.
yah bull shit!! If I wana help anyone? I'll make sure I know who I am helping!! Not paying one to some f***ing company who usually steals the money anyways!!
LOVE IT!! I'm in college, majoring in Zoology, and I want to work on Conservation + Rehabilitation + Rescuing of big cats, but I am in looove with Cheetahs specifically :)
it makes me sad when i see dead animals- even if it was a dead bird. but if someone had ever hit a cat and i was riding in their car... well they would go to the hospital about ten minutes later
@egohaslanded2001 Well we don't have cheetahs for one :) No jaguars either then quite a few of the rarer small cats species we do no have at BCR. We have 15 species at the sanctuary.
They're a unique animal that as been pushed out of it's habitat by people, now it's time for people to help the animals for a change. It would be a great shame to lose cheetahs in the wild. What do you think?
Well it's evolution. Might sound cynic but helping them is actually the unnatural thing to do. As they're meat. Should we have stopped the meteor, theoretically killing all the dinosaurs if we could?
It's not quite as black and white as that though. If everybody thought like this we'd have empty oceans and forests, if we and cheetahs can live side by side and help one another, this is the ultimate goal.
Wait a second. What happened to our strong evolution believes? Are we doubting Charles Darwin, who graciously educated us with his survival of fittest theory?????
All the medicines you use to keep you alive is actually in complete violation of Darwin's law. Lets just face it: we are part of nature. When we intervene nature intervenes.
I voted.... Cheetahs also have non retractable claws that they use to help them get a better footing while on the hunt.... They use there dew claw to "trip" up prey while on the chase..I love the tuft of fur along their head & neck as cubs & juviniles so adorable
Actually, cheetahs do have retractable claws. What they lack is sheaths, the soft skin that covers retracted claws in other species. I think cheetahs are the only cats that have this trait, but I know Fishing cats' sheathes only cover part of the claw.
i want to know who won this comptetion of persone of the year u made us vote apparently i cant post this on ur channel so i just pciked a random video.
I am so thrilled to see how many comments and views this video has gotten. Thanks again, BCR for doing this! What an amazing way to help us. Please everyone, keep spreading the word for everyone to vote!!!
Isreal4realz: NO! That will never work out! Cats are obligate carnivores! They need meat. If you feed them primarily veggies, they can get very sick from malnutrition and die. Actually cheetahs have been found in Iraq and other places like that. Those are all ecxtinct though. Cheetah is not 1 of the 4 main big cats. Beautiful though I love how they hunt. I heard that cheetahs are the only "big" cats that can purrr.
bestamerica, if you want to get an exotic mammal as a pet, then get a reptile, like a bearded dragon, or a ball python that have been captive bred. Theyve been domesticated for a long time (3,000 years) and love human interaction.
Yeah, you would need so much room for the cheetah to run around, it won't even be funny. You need to give them specifically meat, and you need special vets, plus, you need a permit and many other things. Unlike other big cats, they may not be as aggressive as I've never heard of a cheetah ever killing a human before (not like it never happened), however, it needs a lot of territory and in winter you'll need to keep him in a small shed. How will he get exercise then?
Cheetahs live in Africa, so there is really no winter; just dry and wet seasons. Unless you have your own private, tropical, island (yes, it is possible to own your own private island) for the cheetah to run around in, there would be no way in Hell that you could keep one and allow it to even come close to what it would be like in the wild.
The cats from Big Cat Rescue were not bought fro ma breeder or anything like that. They were rescued animals from private, neglectful ownership, or from circuses. They wish they didn't have to be around in the first place, but they have to. The animals abandoned and mistreated by retarded owners shouldn't have to live in the conditions they were living in when they were first born.
It's like people who keep alligators in small 6 foot long aquariums and expect the poor animal to stay the same size as the tank, when that myth is not true at all. They just get cramped in an unhappy, little life. The same with big cats. Which live the majority of their lives in 6ft x 3ft enclosures before Big Cat Rescue rescues them from their crappy little life as a pet or a circus/show animal?
sure ya can! just dump like 5 lions, 5 tigers, 5 jaguars, 10 cheetahs or something into a enclosed open field and they will do the rest. just make sure that camera is rolling! ;)
Awesome!! Great video. This coming competition season I will be representing the Cheetah Conservation Fund when I do my martial arts competitions. Those cats are the reason I am going back to college to get a degree in biology. Better to safe one of the big cats than to sit on my backside working on computers all day.
Thanks for voting :) What other groups? The winner of the Animal Planet comp is announced in december, finger crossed! Hope you make it to the sanctuary someday.

bestamerica, if you want to get an exotic mammal as a pet, then get a reptile, like a bearded dragon, or a ball python that have been captive bred.

Awesome!! Great video. This coming competition season I will be representing the Cheetah Conservation Fund when I do my martial arts competitions. Those cats are the reason I am going back to college to get a degree in biology. Better to safe one of the big cats than to sit on my backside working on computers all day.

Cheetahs are my favorite animal (you can tell by the username), but it is so sad how high the mortality rate is in breeding.
I will definately vote to help!
