I would be ashamed if I voted the guy in for his last 3 terms. I have no idea-he may have done some great things but he is simply too old. Every business has mandatory retirement, what is a guy who is a U.S. senator doing mumbling incoherently and getting paid for it, doing working? Absolutely shameful.
@giggedy4goo We have the best way to limit terms already---the vote! But you are right, I think he was what is wrong with Washington. I remember driving through West Virginia and seeing his name on bridges roads and every thing else he had helped bring there. Just like Ted K the media will fawn over him. But the great news is it effects the 60 vote margin and a special election is on the horizon!
@john51880 The problem is there are no term limits through voting when it comes to Byrd. Anyone knows-definitely W Virginia voters that Byrd brings in billions in federal money that they will n.ever get when he is gone, but.......NEWSFLASH-----he died today. I guess the road to nowhere will just be a...........road to nowhere. W Virginia is going to get a lot less money now without someone who can tack on money for the state with every bill passed as he has for years.
@giggedy4goo The residents of West Virginia have to demand a constitutional conservative who wants reduced spending or they will get more of the same old nonsense! Yes Gerrymandering and fund raising etc, are issues! But if the voter demand better at the ballot box it will not matter! Time for a great person to step forward and lead! This is a huge opportunity!
For a sitting US Senator to to make such a public spectacle of himself is truly astonishing. It shows just how dysfunctional the US Congress has become. No wonder the country is bankrupt.
Then I guess they should get rid of pussy Boehner too, considering that he cries worse than this over the elastic being shot in his underpants. Maybe you Repukes should take some time off of making stupid comments and try thinking for yourself and it might improve the standing of the Republican party, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Byrd has been in the Senate for 50 years and Kennedy for 47 years. It's disgusting how mindless voters will keep reelecting these bottom feeders ad infinitum.
If 8 years in public office was good enough for George Washington, it's good enough for these scumbags.
Senators are senators for life. They don't get re-elected.
That being said, the Idea of Term Limits would be welcome for incoherent ex KKK members such as this. I'm sure Sen. Byrd shit his pants at least twice during the course of this video, and it's NOT his fault...
Throw out every single one of these worthless oligarchs. Republicans and Democrats alike, none of them represent us. Nothing but a bunch of corrupt weasels, every last one of them.
Bobby loves Ted. What did Bobby Byrd and Teddy the K do behind the building or in Fort Marcy Park after hours? Did Ted dress in Bobby's wife's dress and pearls?
Very moving performance by Cyclops Byrd. I would have been moved to tears myself if Byrd had cried through the eye holes of his soiled bedsheet. The phoniness of liberals is sickening.
Senator Byrd, like most politicians, is a phony person. He's talking and crying like Ted Kennedy has already died. Bad judgement. Wow, what a psychopath. I guess craziness comes in all shapes and sizes and packages.
You are a US Senator, and Your WEAKNESS is a DISGRACE to the United States. The enemies of this nation laugh when they see your weakness. YOU ARE WEAK AND HAVE NO PLACE IN THE SENATE!!! How can you be in a position of such power and be such a baby. RESIGN OLD MAN, RESIGN!!! YOU MAKE ME SICK!!!
Actually it's quite poignant to have another youtube window opened with that song playing as this video rolls. It's got me crying again as I type...Teddy, Teddy, why did it have to be you? Couldn't it have been some mean conservative who wants welfare bums to work instead? Sniff...sniff.
oh man that is a tough one, don't know whether he is faking or if he is serious, but I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say his emotion is real. for those who don't know: he was a member of the Klan before. Now I'm going to just go and say it, once you've been associated with filth like the KKK you can't ever get it off of your back. But we've all been young and reckless and said things without knowing their full implications right? Well this man did so and went to become a s

Using your assumptions and beliefs about the war, I submit to you that the Democrats, especially those who continue the funding, are as guilty for the continuance of this 100% illegal, unjust,etc.,etc. war as Bush, Cheney and the Republicans. The Democrats are as responsible for the deaths as Bush, maybe even more - they claim to know better and also claim to have been given a mandate to stop it. Yet, they didn't.
Since you agree with the course chosen by the Democrats, you also have put politics ahead of what you believe to be morally right or wrong. You are no better morally or ethically than you believe Bush to be.

Further: Since you agree with the course chosen by the Democrats you also have put politics ahead of what you believe to be morally right or wrong. You are no better morally or ethically than you believe Bush to be.
To me it doesn't matter who wins in November, it'll be a liberal either way. The success of a poltical party and election results mean little. If the party I normally support tries to win elections by pandering and moving farther away from my beliefs and principles I stop supporting it. That's why it might be best if the Republicans get destroyed - conservatives need to take back the party. It won't happen if their move leftward succeeds.
Your other questions about the war are valid. There's no point in going there. It is a pointless exercise in futility for both of us. What I'm trying to point out is that the Democrats are shafting you. If Bush has committed a crime in putting US lives in jeopardy in this war, the Democrats are just as guilty in allowing it to continue. They could have stopped it (and SHOULD have based on what they SAY they believe) and you know it.
If there's no point in arguing the validity of the war, then there's no point in our discourse. Dems will do what needs to be done come January, 2009. Too bad your party can't lead. Good riddance.
Very moving. I would have been moved to tears myself if Byrd had cried through the eye holes of his soiled bedsheet. The phoniness of liberals is sickening.
Liberalism, in the form of the Democrat party, in control of both houses since 2006 continues to fund the war. It is fully within congressional power to defund the war, as was done in Vietnam, bringing the soldiers home and saving lives. Why hasn't this been done? This question is posed by a Reagan conservative, not a McCain supporter. McCain is a liberal - I don't believe in liberalism.
Blame liberals first huh? The President is the Commander-in-Chief. There will never be unanimity in defund a war. If they are going to be there at the Presidnt's pen, the purse must be open. Stop trying to make this a contradiction. Why haven't you pushed Bush to end the war? Huh? "Reagan" conservative? Get over him. What did he do that was so great? End a Cold War? You're not a Bush Republican? McCain Republican?
Ending a war, like entering one, does not require unanimous agreement. The US congress defunded the Vietnam war. Congress can reject Bush's spending requests, yet they don't. I asked you why? You may want to learn how the war is funded and Congress's part in it.
By the way, I never said I don't support the war, I said I don't like McCain. The question I asked still stands.
I'm well aware about the process, my friend. Dems aren't defunding the war because the minute they do, conservatives will harp on the "traitor" card. Stop playing coy. Now, answer my question. Why have 3500+ Americans died when Iraq has no WMDs? What is the plan for "victory in Iraq?" Wasn't the mission in Iraq "already accomplished?" When will troops leave Iraq? What is the cost of staying in, with regard to lives and the pocket book? How does the war effect our economic circumstances?
In essence you are saying the Democrats are risking and sacrificing the lives of US soldiers for political reasons. Is that what you are saying? The Democrats are doing what they know to be wrong - because they are afraid the public is essentially too dumb to see through the 'traitor' card. The Democrats do not stand behind their convictions. Is that your point?
Haha? Dems? Brother, you don't think Republicans are engaging in a political war? When you have "neo-conservatives" pushing to revolutionize the middle east, THAT is a political war. You didn't answer my questions. Dems aren't sacrificing lives, your President is.
You're missing the point. I'm not trying to argue the merits of the war with you. That is pointless. Nor am I trying to justify the actions of the Republicans to you. I'm asking you to simply apply your own beliefs about it to the Democrats. They are cheating you and if Bush is guilty - they are as well. They have put politics above the alleged principles they claim to have. Can't you see that?
The democrats are not shafting me. The Repubican party is shafting me. Based in your logic, I'm supposed to run to the Republicans? Independent? Become disaffected? The democrats have pursued the course that I agree with. Can't full funds when the President has them in there. This is where Presidetial authority comes in. By the way, while you're so worried about me getting shafted, you still have not mentioned one things about your party. This is THEIR war.
The Democrats have pursued the course you agree with. This course is putting politics before the lives of US soldiers and the principles you espouse. Good luck with that.
Yo've got the party wrong, it seems like your party has not put lives before politics. You still haven't explained why 3,500+ are dead due to your poarty putting us in Iraq. Your cheap attempts to trash dems is so absolutely pointless. I really dont' get your point- yo probably don't either.
ns0710 = I'm not trashing Dems or building up the Reps, that isn't the point I'm trying to make. The point is this: Let's assume you are 100% right about the war. It is 100% unjust, 100% illegal, 100% wrong and the administration is risking US lives for this 100% wrong war. Ok? Let's say I give you your points 100% - no argument from me - say I agree with you 100% - Ok?
Many Democrats supported the Iraq resolution in 2002. Let's assume those who did were hoodwinked 100% as many of them say. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt without question. In 2006 the Dems gained control of both houses. It is within congressional power and responsibilty to fund (or defund) any war. The Democrats did it before and defunded Vietnam (their war- sorry). The Democrats have continued funding the war when they could easily have stopped it.
The Dems of 2006 to the present consist of those opposed to the war from the beginning and those who say they were 'misled' by the administration. Those who oppose from the beginning would probably defund - they have been opposed from day 1. Yet the Dems continue to fund the war they say is wrong etc. for political reasons, despite the continuing loss of US military lives. You even say that. Correct?
Using your assumptions and beliefs about the war, I submit to you that the Democrats, especially those who continue the funding, are as guilty for the continuance of this 100% illegal, unjust,etc.,etc. war as Bush, Cheney and the Republicans. The Democrats are as responsible for the deaths as Bush, maybe even more - they claim to know better and also claim to have been given a mandate to stop it. Yet, they didn't. This is the point.
You libs are wasting your time screaming at Bush. You should be screaming at the Democrats - they are the ones lying to you. They are not doing what you elected them to do in '06. They are not doing what they said they would do. According to you, Bush is a stubborn idiot - what do you hope to accomplish? He hasn't changed in 8 years - right? He'll be gone and your party will certainly have both houses and maybe the presidency.
Your idiotic diatribe allows me to argue full circle, and for that I thank you: we will win the Presidency and end this stupid war. That is, as Democrats, not Republicans. Its too bad you're too ashamed to criticize your own party in the process. THerefore, you have contributed to the damage your party has wrought. The "you libs" thing is too funny. Take your cues from someone other than divisive talking-head Republicans, for a chance. Good riddance.
You can claim it to be an 'idiotic diatribe' if you like. Your myopic view of things doesn't allow you to look at things without political overtones. I call you a 'lib' because that is what you are. It is not intended as an insult, although most libs take it that way. Why that is I do not know. I am not bothered being called a conservative.
The Democratic party has been outwitted, out manouvred and outfought by an unpopular second-term President that you people call stupid and inept. With all the alleged brain-power and brilliant thinkers in the Democrat party, they have been thwarted by a man you call a dummy and should have been a lame duck. With control of both houses and an assumed lock on the presidency this year, Pelosi,Reid and the rest have accomplished zero since '06. I guess they got the minimum wage raised. Wow.
You're not defending George Bush, are you? Finally, you're not seriously arguing that Democrats are somehow not worthy of credit for raising the minimum wage, which ensures that people can survive, right? Democrats are truly the pro-life party, my friend. Saving lives in Iraq and at home. Your party, my friend? No words. No words.
Stop dodging the question. Again: K. Now, tell us what your party HAS done for America. Don't be a traditional Republican and merely attack w/o presnting positive achievements. And, don't start off with "protecting America." If that were true, there would have been no 9/11. Remember that PSB titled "Bin Laden Determind To Strike In U.S?" Don't forget who was President then, my friend. OK, go.
The question was answered. I am not now and never have been a member of the Republican party. I have never voted for a Republican either. It is not my 'party'. I am a conservative. It has become apparent that I have encountered a closed mind.
Now, you have not stated your position on the war, since your disected mine. Is there a reason for that, Mr. conservative? I think I know exactly why... We'll see.
I did not disect your position on the war. I accepted it as 100% correct and went from there. I am not critiquing your position on the war. It is as valid as mine. That is not the issue.
Makes no sense. Two opposite position on the war aren't equally valid. MINE is clearly valid. Lives are being lost because of your kin. By the way, you are probably more culpable by abandoning your party for some political label because "neo-conservatives" invaded the Republican party in started pushing for this war.
Just because someone screams the loudest, shows the most outrage or believes they are with the majority doesn't mean they are on the right side of an issue.
Yet, they didn't
Democrats are best positioned the end the war from the executive seat. I'll repeat it because it is true. Cutting off funds, especially in this climate is tantamount to giving away the election to your party. We all know this. This is your party's war, stop trying to equate a vote for a resolution calling for war as a last resort with a unilateral invasion. The Democrats took the right course, and I agree with it. In fact, I have said this before, and therefore I've "countered" your "point."
Again, you continue on with political parties and political affiliations which I do not have. We've been through this. You haven't countered anything. You have put politics ahead of what you believe to be morally right or wrong. You are no better morally or ethically than you believe Bush to be.
No, what you are is drawn into easy-outs. You have consistently refused to justify your arguments about the war, and instead engage in ths pointless finger-pointing about culpability for the war. The fucking point is that Democrats will end what your party, yes your party, started. I know you are a Republican, its just easy for YOU to escape culpability by hanging on to the "conservative" label. Outrageous. You're not fooling me.
I am not arguing about the validity of the war. I've accepted your position as 100% correct and went from there.
As I have said repeatedly, I am not now and never have been a member of the Republican party. I have never voted for a Republican candidate. I am a conservative. That is the truth. Why would you assume I am lying to you?
K. OK, go.
I'm not a 'traditional' Republican. I am not a member of the Republican party. I am a conservative. I'm starting to think it is impossible to reason with you or get you to follow any sort of logical thought process.
The fundamental problem with you is that you fail to recognize the problems with your party. Haven't you any? I mean, the audacity of you to say that DEMOCRATS were merely "misled." You are ridiculous.
The Republicans are not 'my party'. I'm a conservative. My beliefs and principles are founded upon conservatism, not the Republican or any other party. Political parties shift around, my principles don't.
we are now living in EMPEROR CALIGULA'S ROMAN EMPIRE!!!!
for those that dont know or remember he turned all the senator's wives into prositutes, then fired all the senator's and replaced them with live horses, stating that horses ass could do better jobs, the senators that objected to either change were executed by the ROMAN STATE. my GOD please help what little is left of the United states that was created when the constitution was written. i want to throw up.
Kennedy may have made some mistakes in his personal life. But as a politician/lawmaker, he has done great for our nation. He is the only rational liberal left in our country, let alone the only rational politician. God bless him!
Wow! I'm shocked to see such nasty comments about a man who is suffering from brain cancer. If you have ever known anyone with this type of cancer, you would know better. It is a slow and very ugly death, with no dignity.I hope you all think twice about saying such things. You or a loved one could be next. Show a little compassion.
And I bet you sick bastards call yourselves Christians too. You are exhibiting yourselves as the monsters you've been all through the Bush Administration. No compassion. How will you react when you or your family members get a brain tumor? My grandma died of one.
One of these people will recall their comment upon finding out their child, or parent, or other loved one is diagnosed with a similar ailment in the future. Then they will regret it and mature at that point to deal with their own crisis.
I am sad about TK developing brain cancer. I had always hoped that he would be hit by a bus. It could still happen, but it would be a lot less gratifying now. I will still hold out hope for Robert Byrd though. C'mon Greyhound!!!!
this is hands down one of the best and funniest comments on youtube to date..how you people can sit around and feel that sorry for a man who let a young girl die in the water and yet has lived a great life being a deuchebag..btw i just called a bus company but they said theyd get stopped before even getting close to capitol hill lol
Try opening a car door underwater and tell me how it goes. The water pressure is too great; the human body runs out of breath before it is able to overcome the pressure caused by the water. Do some research before you blindly attack Ted Kennedy over the Mary jo tragedy.
Did the car sink instantly? Nope, how about you check the facts. How about Teddy at least reporting the incident within a decent amount of time? Or how about not lying about it? How about Teddy not retreating to a compound funded by bootlegger money.
I hope he doesn't die soon, I hope it's a lengthly process. Like drowning is....
You are free to speculate about the proper actions to take in pulling a human from a sinking car in the dark. Of course internet heroes have all the answers and can act rationally during an unexpected tragedy, ESPECIALLY after the tragedy has already occured and the internet hero only has to be courageous through the hard work of typing words on a keyboard. And simply brushing over the seriousness of the incident with "he couldn't even open a door" shows how empty your words are.
The position of Kopechne's body in the car suggests she may have suffocated and didn't drown. There is a distinction. Her head was in the foot area near the rear seat. From the water levels, conditions etc. there was an air pocket. She may have ran out of air. With timely notification of the proper authorities, she may have been pulled out before suffocation. Alas, we'll never know because Teddy contacted his lawyers, was 'confused' and didn't report the accident until the next morning.
Ted Kennedy is one of the few that speak up against the corruption. I think it's a sad day. And it's also sad that people can say what ever the hell they want on the internet without any respect... yet decide to prosecute someone for saing goddamn america... Oh well.
Yeah, I'm an Obama support. Now, I don't really think that's pathetic, concidering what's he's been through. Maybe it was misplaced at the time, but after what has happened, I think it was justified. Showing emotion, I also believe, doesn't constitue weakness. I know a man that has his 5th degree black belt in eight marshall arts styles, and grew up in Taiwan, and yet he still shows a lot of emotion.
I was just makin' a guess about 2000, seeing as a lot of the other Kennedy haters voted for him in 2000. And I'm not some braindead Obama supporter, so don't jumped to that, it's pretty simple minded. Now why you have to be so cruel to a man who almost lost one of his best friends, and who's friend was diagnosed with cancer, I'll have no idea. Hey, when your friend of fifty years gets a brain tumor, call me. I'll give you an earful about him.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
What a pathetic excuse for a Senator. No wonder this country is going to hell in a hand basket f'n sniveling whiny little weaklings like this running the country into the ground. The Islamofascists in their caves I'm sure are laughing their asses off right about now. May this asswad soon join his communist butt buddy from hell Ted Kennedy. F'ing pathetic!
I bet you're one of those "compassionate conservatives" that voted for Bush in 2000, huh? Go back into your little hole, smack it to some furry porn, and get a fucking life.
Youre the pathetic piece of shit. I hope you fucking choke on a dick you faggot. And stop using the word "Islamofascits" you fearmongering bitch. I bet you get all your ideas from the savage wiener. Am i right?
I'll never stop using the word Islamofascists. I'm not afraid to acknowledge reality unlike you f'ing psychopathic leftwing scum who are going to be the first to wind up with their heads on the chopping block when Sharia is instituted in America. God I love the irony.

Quite a tear-jerking performance by Byrd. I'm welling up right now ... sniff ... damn ... sniff ...ok. We love you Teddy. We miss you.
I've composed a new verse for the song 'Seasons in the Sun' in dedication to Teddy and Sheets Byrd,
We had whores, we had beer,

but the broads and the booze,
like our dignity we lose.

Here it is again:

What about the murder of Mary Jo???? Kennedy should be in the pen. Byrd is senile and should go home and lock him self up:
mcmiraclevalley 3 years ago
Your other questions about the war are valid. There's no point in going there. It is a pointless exercise in futility for both of us. What I'm trying to point out is that the Democrats are shafting you. If Bush has committed a crime in putting US lives in jeopardy in this war, the Democrats are just as guilty in allowing it to continue. They could have stopped it (and SHOULD have based on what they SAY they believe) and you know it.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
If there's no point in arguing the validity of the war, then there's no point in our discourse. Dems will do what needs to be done come January, 2009. Too bad your party can't lead. Good riddance.

Conservatives ARE constantly divisive. I think it's a learned brain disorder.
ns0710 3 years ago
Liberalism doesn't emanate from the brain - it is released from another part of the body.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
Liberalism will saves lives of soldiers in Iraq. Let's come to reality, McBush. Obama 2008.
ns0710 3 years ago
Liberalism, in the form of the Democrat party, in control of both houses since 2006 continues to fund the war. It is fully within congressional power to defund the war, as was done in Vietnam, bringing the soldiers home and saving lives. Why hasn't this been done? This question is posed by a Reagan conservative, not a McCain supporter. McCain is a liberal - I don't believe in liberalism.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
Blame liberals first huh? The President is the Commander-in-Chief. There will never be unanimity in defund a war. If they are going to be there at the Presidnt's pen, the purse must be open. Stop trying to make this a contradiction. Why haven't you pushed Bush to end the war? Huh? "Reagan" conservative? Get over him. What did he do that was so great? End a Cold War? You're not a Bush Republican? McCain Republican?
ns0710 3 years ago
Ending a war, like entering one, does not require unanimous agreement. The US congress defunded the Vietnam war. Congress can reject Bush's spending requests, yet they don't. I asked you why? You may want to learn how the war is funded and Congress's part in it.
By the way, I never said I don't support the war, I said I don't like McCain. The question I asked still stands.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
I'm well aware about the process, my friend. Dems aren't defunding the war because the minute they do, conservatives will harp on the "traitor" card. Stop playing coy. Now, answer my question. Why have 3500+ Americans died when Iraq has no WMDs? What is the plan for "victory in Iraq?" Wasn't the mission in Iraq "already accomplished?" When will troops leave Iraq? What is the cost of staying in, with regard to lives and the pocket book? How does the war effect our economic circumstances?
ns0710 3 years ago
In essence you are saying the Democrats are risking and sacrificing the lives of US soldiers for political reasons. Is that what you are saying? The Democrats are doing what they know to be wrong - because they are afraid the public is essentially too dumb to see through the 'traitor' card. The Democrats do not stand behind their convictions. Is that your point?
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
Haha? Dems? Brother, you don't think Republicans are engaging in a political war? When you have "neo-conservatives" pushing to revolutionize the middle east, THAT is a political war. You didn't answer my questions. Dems aren't sacrificing lives, your President is.
ns0710 3 years ago
You're missing the point. I'm not trying to argue the merits of the war with you. That is pointless. Nor am I trying to justify the actions of the Republicans to you. I'm asking you to simply apply your own beliefs about it to the Democrats. They are cheating you and if Bush is guilty - they are as well. They have put politics above the alleged principles they claim to have. Can't you see that?
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
The democrats are not shafting me. The Repubican party is shafting me. Based in your logic, I'm supposed to run to the Republicans? Independent? Become disaffected? The democrats have pursued the course that I agree with. Can't full funds when the President has them in there. This is where Presidetial authority comes in. By the way, while you're so worried about me getting shafted, you still have not mentioned one things about your party. This is THEIR war.
ns0710 3 years ago
The Democrats have pursued the course you agree with. This course is putting politics before the lives of US soldiers and the principles you espouse. Good luck with that.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
Yo've got the party wrong, it seems like your party has not put lives before politics. You still haven't explained why 3,500+ are dead due to your poarty putting us in Iraq. Your cheap attempts to trash dems is so absolutely pointless. I really dont' get your point- yo probably don't either.
ns0710 3 years ago
ns0710 = I'm not trashing Dems or building up the Reps, that isn't the point I'm trying to make. The point is this: Let's assume you are 100% right about the war. It is 100% unjust, 100% illegal, 100% wrong and the administration is risking US lives for this 100% wrong war. Ok? Let's say I give you your points 100% - no argument from me - say I agree with you 100% - Ok?
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
Many Democrats supported the Iraq resolution in 2002. Let's assume those who did were hoodwinked 100% as many of them say. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt without question. In 2006 the Dems gained control of both houses. It is within congressional power and responsibilty to fund (or defund) any war. The Democrats did it before and defunded Vietnam (their war- sorry). The Democrats have continued funding the war when they could easily have stopped it.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
The Dems of 2006 to the present consist of those opposed to the war from the beginning and those who say they were 'misled' by the administration. Those who oppose from the beginning would probably defund - they have been opposed from day 1. Yet the Dems continue to fund the war they say is wrong etc. for political reasons, despite the continuing loss of US military lives. You even say that. Correct?
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
Using your assumptions and beliefs about the war, I submit to you that the Democrats, especially those who continue the funding, are as guilty for the continuance of this 100% illegal, unjust,etc.,etc. war as Bush, Cheney and the Republicans. HelmutHedd 3 years ago
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
Your idiotic diatribe allows me to argue full circle, and for that I thank you: we will win the Presidency and end this stupid war. That is, as Democrats, not Republicans. Its too bad you're too ashamed to criticize your own party in the process. THerefore, you have contributed to the damage your party has wrought. The "you libs" thing is too funny. Take your cues from someone other than divisive talking-head Republicans, for a chance. Good riddance.
ns0710 3 years ago
You can claim it to be an 'idiotic diatribe' if you like. Your myopic view of things doesn't allow you to look at things without political overtones. I call you a 'lib' because that is what you are. It is not intended as an insult, although most libs take it that way. Why that is I do not know. I am not bothered being called a conservative.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
The Democratic party has been outwitted, out manouvred and outfought by an unpopular second-term President that you people call stupid and inept. With all the alleged brain-power and brilliant thinkers in the Democrat party, they have been thwarted by a man you call a dummy and should have been a lame duck. With control of both houses and an assumed lock on the presidency this year, Pelosi,Reid and the rest have accomplished zero since '06. I guess they got the minimum wage raised. Wow.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
You're not defending George Bush, are you? Finally, you're not seriously arguing that Democrats are somehow not worthy of credit for raising the minimum wage, which ensures that people can survive, right? Democrats are truly the pro-life party, my friend. Saving lives in Iraq and at home. Your party, my friend? No words. No words.
ns0710 3 years ago
Your points here are laughable. At any rate, there is no point in addressing them. Pass.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
Stop dodging the question. Again: K. Now, tell us what your party HAS done for America. Don't be a traditional Republican and merely attack w/o presnting positive achievements. And, don't start off with "protecting America." If that were true, there would have been no 9/11. Remember that PSB titled "Bin Laden Determind To Strike In U.S?" Don't forget who was President then, my friend. OK, go.
ns0710 3 years ago
The question was answered. I am not now and never have been a member of the Republican party. I have never voted for a Republican either. It is not my 'party'. I am a conservative. It has become apparent that I have encountered a closed mind.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
This is a lie. You, as a conservative have "never voted for a Republican?" Quit the lies first, and we'll talk.
ns0710 3 years ago
It is not a lie. Why would you assume I'm lying about that? Your assumption is wrong.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
Now, you have not stated your position on the war, since your disected mine. Is there a reason for that, Mr. conservative? I think I know exactly why... We'll see.
ns0710 3 years ago
I did not disect your position on the war. I accepted it as 100% correct and went from there. I am not critiquing your position on the war. It is as valid as mine. That is not the issue.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
Makes no sense. Two opposite position on the war aren't equally valid. MINE is clearly valid. Lives are being lost because of your kin. By the way, you are probably more culpable by abandoning your party for some political label because "neo-conservatives" invaded the Republican party in started pushing for this war.
ns0710 3 years ago
Discussing ideas with you at this point is all about political parties. We might as well be arguing about our favourite sports teams or rock bands.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago

HelmutHedd 3 years ago
Political parties start wars, my friend.
ns0710 3 years ago
Here is the point you do not counter:
Using your assumptions and beliefs about the war, I submit to you that the Democrats, especially those who continue the funding, are as guilty for the continuance of this 100% illegal, unjust,etc.,etc. war as Bush, Cheney and the Republicans. The Democrats are as responsible for the deaths as Bush, maybe even more - they claim to know better and also claim to have been given a mandate to stop it. Yet, they didn't
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
Democrats are best positioned the end the war from the executive seat. I'll repeat it because it is true. Cutting off funds, especially in this climate is tantamount to giving away the election to your party. We all know this. This is your party's war, stop trying to equate a vote for a resolution calling for war as a last resort with a unilateral invasion. The Democrats took the right course, and I agree with it. In fact, I have said this before, and therefore I've "countered" your "point."
ns0710 3 years ago
Again, you continue on with political parties and political affiliations which I do not have. We've been through this. You haven't countered anything. You have put politics ahead of what you believe to be morally right or wrong. You are no better morally or ethically than you believe Bush to be.
HelmutHedd 3 years ago
No, what you are is drawn into easy-outs. You have consistently refused to justify your arguments about the war, and instead engage in ths pointless finger-pointing about culpability for the war. The fucking point is that Democrats will end what your party, yes your party, started. I know you are a Republican, its just easy for YOU to escape culpability by hanging on to the "conservative" label. Outrageous. You're not fooling me.
ns0710 3 years ago
I am not arguing about the validity of the war. I've accepted your position as 100% correct and went from there.
As I have said repeatedly, I am not now and never have been a member of the Republican party. I have never voted for a Republican candidate. I am a conservative. That is the truth. Why would you assume I am lying to you?

Try opening a car door underwater and tell me how it goes. The water pressure is too great; the human body runs out of breath before it is able to overcome the pressure caused by the water. Do some research before you blindly attack Ted Kennedy over the Mary jo tragedy.
tookfounie 3 years ago
Did the car sink instantly? Nope, how about you check the facts. How about Teddy at least reporting the incident within a decent amount of time? Or how about not lying about it? How about Teddy not retreating to a compound funded by bootlegger money.
I hope he doesn't die soon, I hope it's a lengthly process. Like drowning is....

punchyouintheneck 3 years ago
You are free to speculate about the proper actions to take in pulling a human from a sinking car in the dark. Of course internet heroes have all the answers and can act rationally during an unexpected tragedy, ESPECIALLY after the tragedy has already occured and the internet hero only has to be courageous through the hard work of typing words on a keyboard. And simply brushing over the seriousness of the incident with "he couldn't even open a door" shows how empty your words are.
tookfounie 3 years ago
The position of Kopechne's body in the car suggests she may have suffocated and didn't drown. There is a distinction. Her head was in the foot area near the rear seat. From the water levels, conditions etc. there was an air pocket. She may have ran out of air. With timely notification of the proper authorities, she may have been pulled out before suffocation. Alas, we'll never know because Teddy contacted his lawyers, was 'confused' and didn't report the accident until the next morning.
