I want to copy your build with a Phenom 965 black editon quad core. Would you recommend that I use the same motherboard as you did? I want to pair it up nicely as to maximize the performance of the cpu but I don't know what motherboard would be best this is my first build (budget) for gaming and general purpose. @lousep1964 New versions of the parts I used are released, so if you want to copy my build use the ASUS M5A88M-EVO AM3+ and the new 32 nm AMD Bulldozer FX CPU which now has 6 or 8 cores.

I don't think the fan on the video card will work fine with the HD bloking it...

decent build man. i really hate micro atx mobos and stock cpu coolers tho lol. also be careful with that OCZ psu they arent the best around but you arent loading it all the way so you should be fine.

@TheViolenceFreak Well I like my PC as small as possible so I build them in mini tower cases. The OCZ StealthXStream 500W is the only descent power supply I can find with a 4 pin CPU which the motherboard uses 4 pin. And the AMD Phenom II doesn't get hot even with stock CPU cooler and I would probably upgraded to Bulldozer when it comes out but I don't have this PC anymore, I have an Intel Sandy Bridge i7 2600K PC now

Why such a small case, ive used that case for a moderate setup before and i found the air flow to be very poor. Have you considered a haf series case or antec 902?

@thewildwan The Phenom doesn't run that hot so I chose the stock cooler instead, and sold the A70
