The Road and Book of Eli inspired the development, and it's not going to be cancelled. They had to reboot the game because it was a piece of krap game, and you would have bitched about that more than a delay. This game will be so successful that they will make a 59.99 version for sure.

This game looks pretty good, but I'm not going to pay $60 for it. I have so many games to play, I can afford to wait a while on it. Anyway, in the other video, where one of the developers is talking, it sounded like there was some creative, original ideas in this game that could be pretty cool. It seems like they're aiming for realistic features that keep you thinking, rather than running into any situation blindly. It's ask questions first, shoot later, instead of the typical shoot first.
