Republicans fought against the idea of global warming because it was a supposedly liberal issue - now it is considered factual - GM's leader called the Prius Hybrid impractical and not a money maker while the Japanese perfect the technology and he sells gas guzzlers - our car companies use the excuse that "they sell what we want" - stop fighting so "WE" can fix this issue - do you think oil companies making record profits will let this happen easily? Stop letting them fool you, and be American.

Since we are deathly dependant on Petroleum we have left ourselves open to political & monetary manipulation. Right now we are paying a monetary price. Paying a politcal price i.e. loss of freedoms is on the horizon.

The dollar is falling because many Legistlators, Judges, Government Agencies won't allow us to produce enough of our own natural resources. Fund out who those really are and vote them out! We need to develope ALL resources, not just the ones who line politians pockets!

The way alternative fuels are being pushed by idiot liberals is rediculous. They don't want us to drill for ANY oil at all, or build nuke plants, or build new dams, or build new refineries...they want "alternative" green fuels instead. IIRC, the concern there is about damage to the ecosystems around those dams, although I think that's better than damage to the air and atmosphere from fossil fuels.

It's not like that's only the fault of the "oil companies"; it's the fault just as much so of the consumers; they choose to keep using their cars. If they're in a small town, they could bike around instead. If they're in a city, they could take public transit instead. The oil companies aren't stopping them in either case. They choose to keep their habits.

this guy is about as clueless as an infant when it comes to fuel costs. demand and inflation cause high prices. not oil companies and supply! the make record profits b/c it takes more money to purchase a gallon of fuel thats worth as much as it was before. thats inflation. cost rises, value stays the same, but we get less. the government involving itself gave us stagflation in the 70s, a long term depression in the 30s, wonder what it will do this time? hmmm.....it will NOT help!

You can't say it's not supply, supply and demand go hand in hand. Since there is a huge demand, the oil companies have the power to charge more for their gas because people have to buy it no matter what. I also agree that there is some inflation going on, but the gas prices have risen at a much faster rate than anything else.

none of the other product we purchase are as directly affected by inflation as gasoline b/c the inflation is dispersed amongst the various chemicals and ingredients in every product. i.e. hand lotion is not much more expensive b/c it is made up of more than a dozen other products. the cost is more appropriately apportioned. but gasoline is not. we refine it, ship it, and then the gov't taxes it. supply has little effect. inflation has the greatest effect.

Thankyou! It has NOTHING to do with supply and demand, It has NOTHING to do with drilling or reserves. It has EVERYTHING to do with the value of the dollar! In 1947 a gallon of gas cost 23 cents. A 1947 quarter contained 1/4 ounce of silver.. today 1/4 ounce of silver is worth.. $4.55! Oil is traded in American dollars.. but what about other countries paying alot for gas? they also have floating currencies and the oil is heavily taxed. The value of money is going down, not gas going up.

The DOLLAR becomes worthless if we can't back it up with "USEABLE" Natural Resources (not gold which is essentially a luxury and therefore in the absence of food and oil become worthless)

So the problem is not printing more Dollars per say, because even the first printed dollar aka. PAPER is worthless if there are no USABLE Natural Resources to back it up

Which means the more NATURAL RESOURCES we produce on our own the higher the value of our dollar goes.
