I believe the Hero's Flash is somewhat of a flash lite. Not necessarily a full amount of flash to view full web content. I think it is more of a convenience factor..more on the go where you can see a vid that you might just need to at the moment..and later view on your desktop. in my opinion its actually pretty cool...and i don't mind if it doesn't play here n there..its better than other phones with no flash..like the iphone.
Because it does more than just move or scale the content. This device is constantly reformatting the content to adapt columns of text to the visible area. Sadly it's not possible to disable this function so it is impossible to perform a direct comparison of performance with devices without this function.
WOW. I love my Palm Pre, but this looks really nice. The hardware is gorgeous, the graphics look really pretty, but what I've noticed is the lack of very much animation (from what I've seen). The Pre has much more smooth scrolling, and it looks like the hero doesn't.

HTC usually makes good phones...this time they missed the mark with this Android...it's ugly nothing special about it. I had full HTML broswer on my 8925 with flash through skyfire browser I wouldn't call this an "Iphone Killer" nothing more then a middle of the road smartphone.
When I first looked at the Hero I was impressed and now that it's released and I got in-depth with it, I found it to be very dissapointing. Why don't they put better hardware on it? For anyone who wants a good phone, go with a pre, iPhone, or blackberry.
No other smartphone will really be able to match the smoothness of animations on the iPhone. Reason is because iPhones OS is built with OSX, which has very strong graphics because of quartz and core animation. Most these other clones use Linux, like the Pre, and while the Pre is probably the closest it still doesn't match the smoothness of iPhones OS.

Widgets? Two months ago I had an HTC, with widgets and "kool stuff". After a week using it I returned it to the store. The same with Samsung Star. I have had my iPhone 3g for over a year and nothing is better.

There was nothing to compare it agaisnt really the iphone. It was amazing when it came out, i was in the queue to get one. But years later and 2 further phones down the line, nothing has changed, same dull UI, even the shape looks the same, and putting 3g on the 2nd iPhone and Apple sounded like they invented 3g when infact, it was a ultimatley glaring error in omitting it from the first one. But thats an American company for you, Europe has had HSDPA for years so apple didnt bother.

on the HERO it takes just 1 sec.
the keyboard is much better. hero slugginess is overexaggerated.status bar is innovative, lockscreen gives much more information than iphone.

Backgrounder on the iphone is worst of all.
Your phone may crash or the app may not work correctly ( that too on jailbroken iphone where ur warranty is void )

When I first looked at the Hero I was impressed and now that it's released and I got in-depth with it, I found it to be very dissapointing. Why don't they put better hardware on it? For anyone who wants a good phone, go with a pre, iPhone, or blackberry.

No other smartphone will really be able to match the smoothness of animations on the iPhone. Reason is because iPhones OS is built with OSX, which has very strong graphics because of quartz and core animation. Most these other clones use Linux, like the Pre, and while the Pre is probably the closest it still doesn't match the smoothness of iPhones OS.

we all have seen on other videos what all flash can do on htc HERO...say running videos, games , pop ups.....listen u retarded faggots....my 50% of the web experience gets spoiled and i have to open my laptop to run flash for getting some vital informations from a few sites.

Widgets? Two months ago I had an HTC, with widgets and "kool stuff". After a week using it I returned it to the store. The same with Samsung Star. I have had my iPhone 3g for over a year and nothing is better.

thats the most weird description of the wonderful browser on the HERO ( just see how beautifully it adapts everything on the screen whenever it is zoomed in and out (never possible on iphone , that also took it 3 upgrades to reach this level of smoothness)....faggots remember this is the first version of htc browser, and that too with FLASH & MULTITOUCH.

HTC Hero is horrible when it comes to the web browser.
1)The Accelerometer is horrible.
2)When you pinch out and pinch in its laggy.

You dont need to compare it to any phone to do a review or review its browser. Its like Apple have borked everyones mind into thinking there is only 1 touchscreen phone out there. After their 3rd attempt at a phone apple have still the same years old boring ui, on a phone that cant even multitask correctly. 4) Generally more appealing to the eye
5) Doesn't feel bulky
6) It's the baseline that other manufactures try and match, and consequently fail every time.

btw, if multitasking is seriously that big of an issue for you, you can jailbreak the iPhone and download something called backgrounder, which lets you multitask. I have it and barely even use it because multitasking really isn't that big of a deal on a phone.

yes, Multitasking is waay more important than oohing and aahing on the phones icons. If it cant do multi tasking then its not a good phone. In this era of Dual core CPU's and Mulit threading processors, Multi tasking is a must.
Bring me Multi tasking and full flash video within browser and then I will be the first one to buy an iPhone, otherwise iphone is just a toy for teenagers who love playing with icon animations on it.

There was nothing to compare it agaisnt really the iphone. It was amazing when it came out, i was in the queue to get one. But years later and 2 further phones down the line, nothing has changed, same dull UI, even the shape looks the same, and putting 3g on the 2nd iPhone and Apple sounded like they invented 3g when infact, it was a ultimatley glaring error in omitting it from the first one. But thats an American company for you, Europe has had HSDPA for years so apple didnt bother.
