Yeah they dont take it like they are humble and oldschool. Mike ohearn needs to literally learn to pose, his legs are way to dam big and i think its complete BS to say he didnt take steroids, yet arnold. priest, dave draper, and other did and this guy is as big or bigger. the world of BB today is a joke and no1 gives a shit because like people have said, this isnt legit posing, look at arnold at 20 yeards old, he flows and poses so awesome, even him them OWNS THEse guys now
all people saying "gross" and all the other typical bullshit nonsense you would expect from people who are from outside the sport, please do your research. body-building is by far one of the most time consuming and hardest sports you can do, its both physically and mentally challenging and you should really show respect to people who can actually body build on this level.
Wearing the thongs is gay. Shaking the thigh muscle is also gay. These guys need to look at some old school posing of the likes of Dorian Yates to get the idea of masculine posing technique. It makes you wonder if these guys work at gay strip clubs for a living. I have no problem with them being gay if they are but they should pose like men and not like girl fitness contestants.
They don't even know how to pose! Why are they wiggling around up there , calm the fuck down and stay still! Also the most muscular pose I just face Palmed that was like asking a 13 yearold how to pose, really hard to believe they were proffesinals.
@Faelian6t5 i'm an idiot because i made a joke, or because my reply to your reply being more than right? you're the stupid one here.. Now go back in your whole, you pathetic 23 year-old Disney lover disease. & GROW THE HELL UP.
@Faelian6t5 Uh, first of all, they do look like that all the time (just a little less shiny/oily) cause they got their big ass muscles 24/7. Second of all, i never said/wrote that this sport was gay or stupid (but i sure think it).. anyways none other sports are this stupid/gay. and last, well not all youtubers are nerds that don,t do sports. i work out 3 times a week and that's only because i don't have that much time (i'm a student). got anything else to say now?
I'm so glad they don't have drug problems in other things like singing. Could you imagine if there was a drug that allowed peoples voiceboxes to get more range / hold notes and key? Every time some young singer goes up on stage and she has an incredible voice and steady pitch people would be saying "Ugggh, if I took drugs I could sound like that" or "That's not normal". overall being natural or not takes alot of hard work. too many people give credit to steroids which is totally wrong. i know people who take alot of steroids and i was bigger then them! they dont put the hard work in to eat 6 meals day, train 5 times a week and pretty dont have a life when competing. Overall these natural shows do not make money like the npc show which dont do any testing.
@combatsportsvideos24 true i just dont like how people justify steriod use now.i just believe that you should do it natural and then you have the right to put you tube videos of you lifting up and walk around the gym thinking your a badass haha
I have met many guys and have friends that are huge and natural. everyone accuse them of being on drugs and some have accused me of taking drugs too. but when i challenge them for a drug test anywhere anytime for pink slip....they think twice about it now... :)
@LuckyGuu Well you see, that's what I was telling you being that you're not familiar as a competitor in the sport. :) If you were, you'd have no need to ask that question. The first half of the show is the prejudging yes that's when they decide who gets what. The final show is for the audience. Like any other sport, it wouldn't be an event without the audience. Is it "ego" when one medals in the Olympics, or who wins the World Series or the Superbowl in those sports? No that's Competition.
@laggerg it wasn't really a question. This video starts off asking for certain poses, as if the contest is undecided at this point, then they instantly give the award without delay for adding up scores. It was pointless to have them do these poses, especially because of all the other poses they've done for hours. I'm just saying it was poorly presented, to a degree. It's ego when you present the body almost nude, "hey look at me, I'm better than everyone, not by skill, just by how I look"
The presentation is for the audience. It wouldn't be an event without them. They want to show them who deserves what placing, that's the point. And if you wish to win, you ABSOLUTELY must go up there with an intent to WIN! Why? Because who needs experience on how to lose?? And if one doesn't take 1st place, it should be because the judges say so, not you the competitor. That's why I've been a 1st place finisher on two occasions. And you certainly won't show what you've got wearing a sweatsuit.
@laggerg no doubt it's an art form and not a sport. Why does it need to be a sport for you to feel okay with what you are doing? Why can't it be an exhibition?
Why do those who lift weights feel the need to show others and why do they need prizes? When you are 89, you may look back and ask, What was I thinking?!
It's a SPORT. Track, swimming, cycling, you need to be the fastest. Golf you need to make the fewest shots. Billiards you need to pocket all assigned balls first to pocket the 8 ball. Why? COMPETITION! There those in senior years, Masters div, STILL competing in bodybuilding.:)
I never said BBers don't compete, of course they do, but none of what you listed qualify it to be a sport. Paco Bautista was equally as massive as the Olympia winner and had the lowest bodyfat and is a great poser and has a dark tan, but still places out of the top 10. After Cutler, the next winner will be black....all to sell magazines. Competitive BBing is more than screwed and will never be in the Olympics. ESPN won't show it anymore.......I thought you said it is an art form?
I said it was an artistic sport, and if ESPN won't show the competitions, no problem. ESPN doesn't have the last word on what a sport is. But as I said before, until you have been a competitor, you can't relate. And bodybuilding certainly isn't the only sport in which a lot of marketing involved.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@laggerg I don't need to compete to understand how hard it is to be a competitive BBer, but it's still nothing more than an artform using the human body, with prizes to keep people interested, with a chance to say "I'm the best and certainly better than you guys!" I call it flexing your ego. We all have an ego, but BBers make it so obvious!
@LuckyGuu But you also can't speak on what competitive bodybuilding is because you're not one yourself. I am. And YES it is an "artform", but the competition makes it a "sport". Which is why I said that it is an "artitsic sport". And if you want to define a desire to WIN an "ego", that's because you evidently never have been a serious competitor in any sport yourself. Who needs experience on how to lose? WIN if you can, lose if you must. but NEVER QUIT! Otherwise don't compete. Waste of time.
@LuckyGuu If you've never been an actual competitor in whatever sport mentioned, it's ludicrous to knock it. I was at a Superbowl gathering yesterday, and I don't watch football, but no one heard me slamming it. In fact, I once gave congrats to Shannon Sharpe when he was with the Broncos when they won the Superbowl, and he knew I wasn't into football, but he also knew I still respect it and what he did.
I understand BBing, having followed contests off and on for 30 years, always aware of who just won the Olympia and I respect the effort that goes into the training, but when I stand back I can see how silly and ego centric it is, which doesn't that that it is also very interesting at times. Yes, it is possible to stand on both sides of the fence. So I disagree with your "ludicrous" comment. This is The Golden Age, the age of blogs and ideas, agreeing is NOT required.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Painter compete in an art show for ribbons or money(1st Place)....does that make it a sport?
Billards is just a game, sometimes played for money. Long hours of practice(hard work) does not make it a sport.
In BBing there are no goals to score, no distance to run, no one to tackle, and the only equipment are some tiny posing trunks, maybe stained with fake tan goop and baby oil................a sport? Hardly. It more resembles Ballet for mostly nude men aka a Gay Man's Dream night out.
@LuckyGuu If it's a competition be it "painting or billiards" , yes it's a sport. Why? because you're out to WIN. That's Competition.
And don't compare apples to oranges okay, running is running, skeet shooting is skeet shooting, you don't compete in one sport to win a title in another.
And that last part in trying to describe bodybuilding, SILLY.
BBing is "showbiz", with lots of "primping" like Miss America, only with muscles and total body shaving.
It's all show and no go. No goals or bullseyes, no amazing speed or skill, no points off for doing posing wrong.
Can you tell me WHY it's so important to you that BBing is a sport?
BBing on stage may involve prizes and titles, but it's still JUST SHOWBIZ, even Arnold said it was an "art form" in the film, Primping....I mean Pumping Iron.
I'm not arguing your uninvolved opinion okay. You're not a bodybuilder, you don't know what's involved, and if you wish to remain silly and stubborn that's allright by me. I have heard people like you for decades trying to discern and dismiss this sport. To add, if you want to quote Arnold in that film, he also said, " Obviously people will look at you and think what you are doing is kind of strange, but those are the ones who don't know much about it." That's you kid.:) Have a good..... life.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I first started BBing about 30 years ago and attented the 1981 Mr. Olympia and Mr. International. I have talked with Bob Kennedy and Vince Gironda and Rick Wayne. What do think this forum is for, only those who compete? Now that's silly. Sure BBing is strange, but it's also unique and interesting and ego centric and political and odd and silly.
Note that I said it's interesting, yes as a subculture to study. Nice people too. I'm just wonderingWHY someBBers here NEED it to be a "sport"?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Good luck showing everyone your muscles and shaving your entire body, then painting on FAKE tan and coating yourself in baby oil, that's one crazy "sport"!
Shaking the leg doesn't release anything and it looks the same if you shake it or not. If this was true, then BBers would go through a 13-step series shaking out all the major muscle parts. It's just for show......I mean more silly crap BBer who compete do------NO OFFENSE
The reason why some shake their legs, is mainly to demonstrate just how much muscle mass they've acquired from training, prior to flexing and showing the definition. And it's also key that you have done the overall necessary dieting to shed the subcutaneous water and bodyfat to give the added hard, shredded look and show the muscle fibers.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@laggerg your explanation sounds good on paper, but I'd have to respond that shaking the leg before flexing is simply a gimmic to attract the attention of the audience to the focal point. Side comment, it looks stupid.
to add to the conversation, actually bodybuilding can be very bad for you. it can kill you if you are not careful.
i' m talking if you slip your grip on a chest press, or shoulder press exercise, the bar - if it has no safety stops - can drop and do major damage on the body.
not to mention i once overloaded on the lat pull machine and i pulled my shoulder. it took 2 years to heal.
Not to ruin someone´s day but I dont see the point of taking steroids or compete with that kind of body.
In my opinion steroids are just useless supplements destroying the most important part of the body: The Heart.
I am not saying the bodybuilders are some dumbfucks cause they arent, is their life, their choise they know the risk but they do it, so some respect to theme.
Btw in order to look like that using steroids you still must have looked amazingly before using them as steroids actually help recovery and strength therefore defying the body is all up to the bodybuilders diets and hard work.
These man are reaching for perfection and people commenting are either jealous or have not been to the gym therefore they would not understand how it is, once you get hooked on to perfecting your own body. Please do not watch these clips unless your criticism is based on hating and jealousy as you people do not even understand how hard these man work to achieve what you can see.
LuckyGuru Look you fucking moron... I posted Quote "i think you mean .. please do not criticize these clips IF your criticism is based on hating " a response to pascal16argentyna Who posted Please do not watch these clips unless your criticism is based on hating and jealousy.. And you reply to me please please dont talk about hating??.. Learn to fucking read, and comprehend what people are saying. Youve been a body builder for 30 years BFD go to school and learn to read ya dumb fuck
not healthy??? oh thats right, sitting on the couch eating potato chips all day is so much more healthy then going to the gym every day for a couple of hours. you are so right....fucking moron!
ummm, what does that even have to do with what we are talking about???? are you high or something when you posted this or are you just delusional? fucking moron
what the fuck? you contradict yourself with each other comment you make! holy shit you are retarded. please stop smoking pot, you are making a fool of yourself.
see, here you go again posting shit that has nothing to do with anything that has been written. seriously, are you high or are do you have some delusional problem? you really need to check yourself in to a mental institution
you say you have followed bodybuilding for 30 years and you talk all about it and then you contradict yourself by putting it down. see what i mean, you are soooooo delusional
ummmm no! the whole point of bodybuilding is to have the best looking body according to certain guidelines. you are mistaking it for fitness training and lifting weights. These are what you do to grow stronger and improve your health. two different things altogether. please get some mental heath help soon.
wrong again LuckyMoron....its called "bodyBUILDING", which means building your body which doesnt imply becoming healthier.......nothing else. now please get some help
you are making yourself look stupid by saying that bodybuilding IS about improving your health. going to the gym for health reasons are absolutely different than going to the gym for bodybuilding. seriously dude, you are clueless
go look at the qualifications for judging in bodybuilding. it is all about appearance and absolutely NOTHING about health. if you dont believe me, go look. sorry but you are wrong and I am right. I have factual material to back me up while you only have your delusional mind to back you up.
Yes bodybuilding at contest level in particular,is about a 'look' but bodybuilding without drugs of course has fantastic health benefits...thats just obvious.
why dont you look up the definition of bodybuilding. it is simply a form of body modification involving muscle hypertrophy and fat loss where individuals are judged upon symetry, proportions, size, definition, etc..... Nowhere in any definition of bodybuilding does it state health improvement. you are confused in your delusional world
why dont you look at the definition for bodybuilding according to Merriam-Webster: the developing of the body through exercise and diet. Why dont you look at other definitions from other sources. You will find just about the same thing. sorry , you lose, i win
zrx7769 is correct. Bodybuilding is not the end result of getting healthier and in shape, it 's a sport which requires one to be in good physical condition prior to starting a bodybuilding regimen.
sounds good, but it's still not a sport, just an exhibition for prizes or money and glory and a giant ego boost. They are still amazing, even if they do pose in their underwear! Q: What happens if they don't shake their leg before they pose/flex it? ha ha ha! Contests only serve to sell magazines.
I take it that you've never been a competitor in the sport, otherwise you wouldn't have that kind of comment. Speaking as someone who has and a former amateur champion in the sport. But unless you're involved, you can't relate.
It's not about relating or not. BBing is still just an exhibition for prizes and/or money and glory. It's a giant ego boost to stand there almost nude to cheer crowds. I have been to the Olympia twice and Night of Ghampions once and met Platz, Kennedy, Gironda and Gaspari and Rick Wayne, that was years ago of course.
@LuckyGuu That would perhaps be your agenda if you were to get involved in it, but as I said before, you're not invovled so you can't relate.
It's about competition, like any other sport. Not about ego, it is an artistic sport, like rhythmic gymnastics, sinc. swimming. And about the disciplines it takes to win that 1st place position, and yes there are perks that can come with it, like any other sport with a lot of exposure. Plus if you're smart , marketing in the fitness industry.
What's odd is how these clips attract all you closet cases with your steroid this and gay that BS. But if it weren't for these bodybuilding clips, you all wouldn't have a purpose in your pathetic lives, would you?
lol bodybuilding isnt just a youtube thing.. and i bet i have more of a life than you.. ur sooo bored of doing nothing, u'v typed bodybuilding (something you obviously hate) in to youtube, just to try to offend and put other people watching it down...
Wait, what is this? I thought Mr Universe was going to be like Ms Universe where they did all that charity work and speak about world peace, what a letdown.
wow..its a bodybuilding video..get over urselves and stop calling other pple faggots for watching this. everyone who posted, watched this. fucking dumshits have to talk shit about every single video no matter what it entails.

ESPN won't show it anymore.......I thought you said it is an art form?
LuckyGuu 2 years ago
I said it was an artistic sport, and if ESPN won't show the competitions, no problem. ESPN doesn't have the last word on what a sport is. But as I said before, until you have been a competitor, you can't relate. And bodybuilding certainly isn't the only sport in which a lot of marketing involved.

LuckyGuu 2 years ago
@LuckyGuu But you also can't speak on what competitive bodybuilding is because you're not one yourself. I am. And YES it is an "artform", but the competition makes it a "sport". Which is why I said that it is an "artitsic sport". And if you want to define a desire to WIN an "ego", that's because you evidently never have been a serious competitor in any sport yourself. Who needs experience on how to lose? WIN if you can, lose if you must. but NEVER QUIT! Otherwise don't compete. Waste of time.
laggerg 2 years ago
So unless I compete in football I shouldn't make any comments? Does that apply to everyone or just me?
LuckyGuu 2 years ago
@LuckyGuu If you've never been an actual competitor in whatever sport mentioned, it's ludicrous to knock it. I was at a Superbowl gathering yesterday, and I don't watch football, but no one heard me slamming it. In fact, I once gave congrats to Shannon Sharpe when he was with the Broncos when they won the Superbowl, and he knew I wasn't into football, but he also knew I still respect it and what he did.
laggerg 2 years ago
I understand BBing, having followed contests off and on for 30 years, always aware of who just won the Olympia and I respect the effort that goes into the training, but when I stand back I can see how silly and ego centric it is, which doesn't that that it is also very interesting at times. Yes, it is possible to stand on both sides of the fence. So I disagree with your "ludicrous" comment. This is The Golden Age, the age of blogs and ideas, agreeing is NOT required.
LuckyGuu 2 years ago
By the way, what is your definition of what a "sport" is? And have you competed in any, won titles, if so what in?
laggerg 2 years ago
@laggerg sorry for the long delay, a sport has:
1. Strength
2. Speed
3. Stamina
4. Cordination
5. Flexability
6. Skill and sometimes 7. Bravery
Arnold aka The King of BBers was right, it's an "artform". If someone doesn't agree, then they should complain to Arnold or Joe Weider
LuckyGuu 2 years ago

Painter compete in an art show for ribbons or money(1st Place)....does that make it a sport?
Billards is just a game, sometimes played for money. Long hours of practice(hard work) does not make it a sport.
In BBing there are no goals to score, no distance to run, no one to tackle, and the only equipment are some tiny posing trunks, maybe stained with fake tan goop and baby oil................a sport? Hardly. It more resembles Ballet for mostly nude men aka a Gay Man's Dream night out.
LuckyGuu 2 years ago
@LuckyGuu If it's a competition be it "painting or billiards" , yes it's a sport. Why? because you're out to WIN. That's Competition.
And don't compare apples to oranges okay, running is running, skeet shooting is skeet shooting, you don't compete in one sport to win a title in another.
And that last part in trying to describe bodybuilding, SILLY.
laggerg 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
@laggerg apples and oranges? huh?
LuckyGuu 2 years ago
I'm not arguing your uninvolved opinion okay. You're not a bodybuilder, you don't know what's involved, and if you wish to remain silly and stubborn that's allright by me. I have heard people like you for decades trying to discern and dismiss this sport. To add, if you want to quote Arnold in that film, he also said, " Obviously people will look at you and think what you are doing is kind of strange, but those are the ones who don't know much about it." That's you kid.:) Have a good..... life.

Why do they all shake their legs before doing a certain pose?
MusicalAthlete0 2 years ago
shaking their legs releases lactic acids from the muscles making their flexes more presentable and bulky looking, especially in the thighs
lopezbc 2 years ago
Shaking the leg doesn't release anything and it looks the same if you shake it or not. If this was true, then BBers would go through a 13-step series shaking out all the major muscle parts. It's just for show......I mean more silly crap BBer who compete do------NO OFFENSE
LuckyGuu 2 years ago
To MusicalAthlete0,
The reason why some shake their legs, is mainly to demonstrate just how much muscle mass they've acquired from training, prior to flexing and showing the definition. And it's also key that you have done the overall necessary dieting to shed the subcutaneous water and bodyfat to give the added hard, shredded look and show the muscle fibers.
laggerg 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
@laggerg your explanation sounds good on paper, but I'd have to respond that shaking the leg before flexing is simply a gimmic to attract the attention of the audience to the focal point.

Yes,and walking across the road can be very bad for you.
You overloaded the machine...you caused the injury.

Not to ruin someone´s day but I dont see the point of taking steroids or compete with that kind of body.
In my opinion steroids are just useless supplements destroying the most important part of the body: The Heart.
I am not saying the bodybuilders are some dumbfucks cause they arent, is their life, their choise they know the risk but they do it, so some respect to theme.

zrx7769 2 years ago
Yes bodybuilding at contest level in particular,is about a 'look' but bodybuilding without drugs of course has fantastic health benefits...thats just obvious.

why dont you look up the definition of bodybuilding. it is simply a form of body modification involving muscle hypertrophy and fat loss where individuals are judged upon symetry, proportions, size, definition, etc..... Nowhere in any definition of bodybuilding does it state health improvement. you are confused in your delusional world
zrx7769 2 years ago
why dont you look at the definition for bodybuilding according to Merriam-Webster: the developing of the body through exercise and diet. Why dont you look at other definitions from other sources. You will find just about the same thing. sorry , you lose, i win
zrx7769 2 years ago
zrx7769 is correct. Bodybuilding is not the end result of getting healthier and in shape, it 's a sport which requires one to be in good physical condition prior to starting a bodybuilding regimen.
laggerg 2 years ago
sounds good, but it's still not a sport, just an exhibition for prizes or money and glory and a giant ego boost. They are still amazing, even if they do pose in their underwear! Q: What happens if they don't shake their leg before they pose/flex it? ha ha ha! Contests only serve to sell magazines.
LuckyGuu 2 years ago
I take it that you've never been a competitor in the sport, otherwise you wouldn't have that kind of comment. Speaking as someone who has and a former amateur champion in the sport. But unless you're involved, you can't relate.
laggerg 2 years ago
It's not about relating or not. BBing is still just an exhibition for prizes and/or money and glory. It's a giant ego boost to stand there almost nude to cheer crowds. I have been to the Olympia twice and Night of Ghampions once and met Platz, Kennedy, Gironda and Gaspari and Rick Wayne, that was years ago of course.
LuckyGuu 2 years ago
@LuckyGuu That would perhaps be your agenda if you were to get involved in it, but as I said before, you're not invovled so you can't relate.
It's about competition, like any other sport. Not about ego, it is an artistic sport, like rhythmic gymnastics, sinc. swimming. And about the disciplines it takes to win that 1st place position, and yes there are perks that can come with it, like any other sport with a lot of exposure. Plus if you're smart , marketing in the fitness industry.
laggerg 2 years ago
I used to kid myself that BBing is not about ego. I had stacks of muscle mags, from when I started in 1979.........sounds like 30 years to me.
