That's not Falkor. That's a Mechanical Luckdragon which Flygirl flies. Her goal is to use magical maps to restore areas of Fantasia lost to the Nothing and free the real Luckdragon, Falkor from the Dungeon of the wicked Sorceress, Xayide. In this adaptation of Michael Ende's book, Falkor looks more or less the same as in the film trilogy, (doglike with pearly scales on his body) except he has no fur, actually has wings and can breathe fire like a real dragon. He also cannot, or will not speak.
@Kaagh178 In other words, Fly Girl's goal is to get on the Dark Princess' nerves. OK, I'm just kidding. ;) But I mean that the Dark Princess wants to destroy Fantasia and Fly Girl restores areas of Fantasia turned into wasteland. For someone, who want destroy something, someone, who wants to restore it, is really annoying. I hope you understand what I've just written.
@Fuchur071 Yeah, I get what you're saying. And truthfully, Xayide does get ticked off by the wasteland areas being restored. Especially as she doesn't work out for a while who is doing it and how.
@Kaagh178 This is one of my jokes about 'Tales From The Neverending Story'. The second one is: Xayide doesn't know mercy and mercy is afraid to meet her. And the third joke: when they were trying to escape from the Dark City, Fly Girl run on the right, Atreyu run on the left and Gmork chased after them. ;)
In fact, this adaptation's version of Falkor is probably closer to Ende's original interpretation of the character than the film trilogy's version. He was drawn and described in the book as a chinese dragon, with fur like a dog, and with no wings for flying, as luck was all a Luckdragon needed. In all adaptations, Luckdragons also bestow luck on other people.
I wasn't referring to Falkor's look, really. I know the book described him as lion-like. I am more disturbed by the CGI cheese-fest. I'm a bigger fan of puppetry, honestly...
In the UK, it was split into the format of 13 episodes. However, when it was later released on DVD in the UK, it was restored back to its original 4 TV movie format.
I'm not sure about the other countries it was shown in, but I assume it was split into 13 episodes there too.
Tales consists of 4 movies, made for Television. Its NOT the 4th movie of the original trilogy, but is instead a retelling of the entire story. If u havent seen it already, i say u check it out!=) OK?
Why can they see the final episod of tales from the never ending story

Ancient Egyptians had ten plagues. Fantasians have only one plague - Xayide, the Dark Princess. ;)

AnimeMusic2008 2 years ago
Well it depends:
In the US it was 4 TV movies.
In the UK, it was split into the format of 13 episodes. However, when it was later released on DVD in the UK, it was restored back to its original 4 TV movie format.
I'm not sure about the other countries it was shown in, but I assume it was split into 13 episodes there too.
Hope that was helpful!=)
