  • called martial arts + the ukemi (human training dummies) were faking it. good job tho

  • Shi Ming's Mind Over Matter is the most profound explication of Chinese history ever published. If you want to know China and have read a fair amount of Chinese history and philosophy--including some Western philosophy--this book will bring you to another understanding. If you want to know about the marshaled energy emission, the book is also helpful, within a rather small and abstract realm. If you want to know, you'll have to give yourself up. Any other method is pointless.

  • Is he dead or still alive ? Master Shi Ming

  • I was a doubter, or at least I was open minded to the idea of Chi existing or not existing. But I went to three tai-chi classes and all my doubts were dispelled. While we were holding a certain stance, the teacher walked behind us and kind or corrected our stance without contact. As he did this I felt sort of aura of fuzzy energy coming about 1cm/1.5cm's off his hand. I was completely amazed, but it was an unmistakable, tangible feeling.

  • @HalSamuel

Strange that when experiments have been conducted, poor deluded fools couldn't tell when someone was there or not there when they were wearing a blindfold.

Simply put, it's suggestion and nothing else.

  • what a crock of horse doodie.

  • what is the difference between chi & kundalini? i don't know about this... although i've seen this done on a much lesser scale - is there anyone that studied there that is english speaking? i'm more interested in the consciousness and his will directing it - i know you can feel & see the energy hence holding the chi ball and its all around and there is john chang (: - but his mind...is it more zenlike...silent...does he have running thoughts?...so many questions....or just the feel of it?

  • Andrew should throw Bill Moyers.

  • hmzhab total lust bilder tauschen und chatn bin so einsam brauche dringend beschäftigung

  • The BIBLE says Jacob wrestled with a man, that was believed to be an angel or even God as man. When he saw he could not overcome Jacob, he touched Jacob on the hip and he became lame in that hip. Is this the same power that was used? Chi power? Think about it!...Genesis 32: 22-32

  • ho...great show but i bet it was a fake

  • Why didn't one of the 2 guys filming this episode have the "master" use his Chi against them, instead of asking others what it felt like, etc. The same goes for the throw attempted by the "student" - why not teach the move to one of the 2 guys ( wouldn't take that long) and have them try it against the "master"?

  • I always thought Bil Moyers should have tried to take him. I do not understand why he didn't try.

  • because then everyone would realize it's a sham.

  • Bill Moyers was 59 when this was made (1993); but good point, I wish they'd had a cameraman or someone else go at him.

  • @SeekerVI yeah that would make sense

  • @mikeamick exACTLY!

  • @mikeamick @SeekerVI @stevieola33

watch this for real demonstration (and try to do this without chi)

    youtube.com/watch?v=7qHL2PSpecI

  • yeah right!!!! the american student is a total retard nerd! Boxing my ass, a boxer would give you a real hiding! as for the other brain washed retards flying around please there are other ways to make money than scam or over act situations. This is not possibly only to brain washed people. Step back and get a seasoned fighter (after all he is a master of this chi) to give him a go, and not the brain washed village idiot. More like a westerner. I know who my money would be on.

  • A lot of nay-sayers commenting here.

Reminds me of the the first wave of American doctors visiting China, yelling "fake" as they watched, with their own eyes, surgery being done with no anesthetic, only acupuncture, on animals as well as people.

Why do we Americans think and act like this over every new idea that comes along?

  • Exactly nom - they can't handle the idea of this. If the dead-hand of science cannot pin it down or categorise it - it can't be true.

They must inhabit a very dull and finite world!

    I love Bill Moyers!

  • @1966BOBBY - "...the dead-hand of science" I would upvote your comment if I could, if only for that great piece of wordsmithing. So true. So very true.

What makes my life so delicious to me are ALL "intangibles", including my laboriously-earned attitude towards the tangibles.

  • Because science is intellectual, not intuitive. Science denies what it cannot test, the only downside to that is somethings require intuitive learning before they can be scientifically tested. Since Westerners rely solely on what they can physically test, they miss out a bit.

In other words... Scientists can only test what they can get their hands on and because this concept is over their heads it is currently out of their reach.

  • Nicely said, Sei783. :-)

  • w

    t

    f

    ?

  • that is not how to throw someone

  • Of course it isn't! The young guy says he's been practicing martial arts for a long time and looks like a total retard when trying to imitate a real fight situation.

  • As a scientist in the field of psychology and as a martial artist in Wing Chun Kung Fu: There are theories on this feats, but nothing has been proven. However, we can't deny the existence of certain phenomena that are beyond logical understanding. First, big problem: defining chi, then to obtain a scientific way to measure it. Acupuncture, Chi Kung and Herbology defy most orthodox scientific standards.

  • The "Andrew" in this video clip is Andrew Nugent-Head. At a Xie Peiqi bagua seminar once, Andrew remarked to Buddy Tripp that the whole situation was a cooperative set-up for the Moyers program. Andrew later stopped studying with Shi Ming to take up baguazhang training under Xie Peiqi and He Jinbao.

  • Ueshiba was said to have been able to use this in combat (Aikido), and was likely to have learned this while in Manchuria.

Several westerners have said his demonstrations where truely unreal, and they never met anyone in HK, China or japan that had cultivated their combat use to Ueshiba's level.

  • very good example of an instant "placebo effect" & group hypnotism (wishful thinking).

  • fake bull shit

  • Care to elaborate?

  • @stevieola33 dude my friend just send electricity through my paralyzed leg with his hands... my muscles were contracting on theres own and vibrating. And i cant even move it if i tried. Its like the electrodes you use for muscle rehad.

  • to be honest I too have experience the power of chi. It may not look real but I assure you, it is not a power to underestimate. I truley once have thrown a jewish man 15 feet.

  • it's 99% mentalism.

  • this video is bullshit. I am not yelling at the poster of this video, but its fake. Chi is very real, but you can not truely use it in fighting.

  • i totally agree with you i trained in martial arts since i was 10 and i have been traning ninjutsu for 7 years now and even ive seen an old man perform things out of his world form the grand master in japan but this is just....a big joke I mean... there is chi and energy involved and an understanding of it does affect you but this is more hokus pokus thing....not real

  • And who is that Andrew guy?

  • "4 more years!" Hehe. I love it.

This guy, Shi Ming, may look fake, but when you read his book "Mind Over Matter: Higher Martial Arts", maybe you will start to believe that he is serious. I mean, his book is some seriously heavy stuff...I have read it several times, and I doscover something new each time.

  • the nomenclature accords to the culture may varies but the "eneregy"/chi../etc will be always there whoever wanna to feel and practice....THIS IS A NaTUaR-LaW.if you want to be skeptic and seek more info be remain the same...also bEwarE of chArlAtAns!!!

  • hey guys "chi" is another form like PSI-Factor...telekinesis!!!!its nothen but ppl like james rhandy who is supported by the secret socities would dispute and nullify the effect of natural force like this!in nutshell they make ppl not to belive in UFO or ESP....howebeit,the matrix world will revolute and bring all to light!

  • Benjamin Franklin disproved this kind of thing back in the 1700's. Read up on his critique of Mesmer.

If you notice, this quack didn't try to affect Bill Moyers.

  • Does the term "quack" apply to anyone who's not a doctor (or duck)? Huckster, con artist, or charlatan, maybe; but quack?

  • I am using the definition, "a person who pretends, professionally or publicly, to have skill, knowledge, or qualifications he or she does not possess; a charlatan".

  • @SeekerVI

Yeah, "quack". The guy in the video is a huckster. He's since come to the West and tried to make sensationalistic claims that are total BS.

  • @SeekerVI

in MGS3 the doctor (Para-Medic) was called "Quack"

  • @imrational thats a load of shit ben franklin didn't study like these guys i just lost some respect for ol'e BF

  • @imrational Benjamin Franklin disproved this kind of thing back in the 1700's. You got to be kidding me. How can 1700's technology be compared to the ever changing and advancing world of science?

  • @qiankundanuoyi1

Did you even watch this video? It's gullible followers succumbing to wishful thinking. It's the placebo effect. A simple skeptic remains totally unaffected by this "chi power".

  • @qiankundanuoyi1

We still repeat experiments done farther back than that and they continue to hold true. For example, look at some of Galileo's classic experiments.

The guy in this video is a proven fake. He is unable to affect a simple skeptic or uses simple body mechanics that anyone with a basic understanding of physics could do (like when a chain of people are pushing on him and not moving him - they are merely pushing on one another and absorbing each other's force).

  • @imrational if you dont experience it.. then you will always have doubt... but then once you feel, then you can most likely do it.

  • @theavatarstoneburner

Apparently, there is a vid of him trying it with Moyers and failing miserably.

Anyway, you're right, if I don't experience it, I will doubt. Maybe one of these days I will feel it (and have a testable theory supporting it, rather than relying on subjective experience that might be related to psychological effects).

  • So why does it only work with his students? Why doesn;t he try it on Bill Moyers? Or on someone who is skeptical?

  • I've experieced my own Chi energy... yet, I cannot say that I've witnessed or can do anything such as this guy.

  • how exactly hav u exparienced ur chi energy?

  • I've seen this happen with my own eyes, it's something else. It's not a trick, but chi dosen't make you invulnerable...I would never believe this if i had not witness it and seen my trusted friends getting thrown. It's mind blowing.

  • Can you provide any details, perhaps who did it and where? I'm looking for any practitioners or material relating to this sort of thing in the USA.

  • I'll be brutally honest with you, even if that seems to make right people who would call this a trick, because i do not really care. The martial art I practice is strongly opposed to bragging on such subjects on the internet. All I can tell you is we were in Japan for some big event, and it's wonderful to observe such things, especially when you are convinced its fake but you realize it isint. I think this kind of stuff is not just shown to anyone for a reason.

  • FANTASTIC VIDEO! It's a shame Shaolin chi-magic is just a bunch of parlor trick hokey BS that isn't really all that applicable in real fighting. I hope you all know that. If not, good luck focusing your mystic chi to prevent a punch combo and takedown.

  • I think it's a perfectly good example of how individuals in a culture that believes parlor trick hokey BS are affected by it.

Much like Americans are tricked by the pharmaceutical industry's advertising, a form of information accepted to the point of empowering the placebo effect in conjunction with their products.

  • Indeed, The human mind is a wonder. If a culure believes in Chi enough then to them it will exist. People feel better after taking a plasebo because they believed enough that it would help. The mind is amazing!

  • I seen this video in college, excellent, i believe it. Can you tell me where i can get a copy of it ? and thanks again for putting up something so rare. and check out my vids too. thanks D

  • If thou checkest yon right-syde descriptory commentation, thou wilt spy thee websyte oft thee shoppe.

  • I'm absolutly sure many people fake skills like that, but I'm just as sure, that certain people... very certain people can do actually things like this, and if that is so, it must be a certain muscle manipupation, but hey, I may be wrong, there are many things humans have yet to find out, about ourselves, and the world around us.

  • complete fraud to fool stupid westeners - the chi tricks always work ONLY with the personal students of the "master"

  • I'd say it's just as interesting to see people fooled by tricks as it is to see bizarre phenomenon.

  • I want to see him try it on anyone that isn't one of his students.

  • I want to see this guy in the UFC

  • Why doesn't the TV Personality get thrown around? Why did he not try it? Hmmm.... get the TV guy to be thrown around and he can see and feel for himslef instead of asking everyone what's going on.

  • where is this?

  • Purple Bamboo Park, Beijing, China.

  • thanks man.

  • hello seeker, do you still have other videos of shi ming, could be glad if you do post more up. thank you.
