@PreppingOnABudget ~ I am tellin' you what! Since it has a 30 day satisfaction guarantee - you bet your sweet bippy I was getting out there to test it!
I wasn't going to suggest f it without seeing the idiot-proof level of the thing. If *I* can use it with success anyone can learn to do the same!
Today on the solar menu - two pots of different beans (cooking ahead) and cornbread.
They should all fit and it's gonna be a full sunny day!
We are also a homeschooling family, 3 generations now. And I like how you explain and show things, like the clouds which tells people that the sky need NOT be 100% clear. Even in the Sierras, Rockies (real mountains) in the winter as long as its sunny even with snow on the ground we can use the solar oven.
@MotherLodeBeth ~ Yep. The only place it cannot be used is in Alaska in those long 24hr dark days! Cool! Three gens of homeschooling! Love it!
Yes, we live in the 'baby mountains' of NC...nothing to compare with your mountains! I love the west! And you're right, snow is not a road block to solar cooking....just focus the rays right IN and you can really cook! Winters are clearer here sometimes so I'm looking forward to cooking in the cold! (o:
LOL! Slow Cooker on STEROIDS! Happy Dance!! You slay me! :-) I love your videos! This is great, baking bread in the Sun Oven! Gorgeous bread! I'm impressed! (Hey, I'm so glad you didn't tumble it over the railing!) :::HUGS:::
@RealFoodLiving1 ~ Wow...wasn't it just brilliant of me to have that idea in the first place! WOW. What a dufas! Oh well at least I stopped before I got it out of the pan!
It makes me smile to know you've watched this. I miss you. We have to get together soon!
I am now re-thinking my appliances in my kitchen, lol. I am going to forward this to some geeky friends of mine and see if they have an explanation for this. Cool stuff. I'm sold on it. I have too many other small appliances in my kitchen that just "eat electricity", and besides, I want to put this thing through its paces. Maybe it makes toast, too?? Yummy thought...even later in the day when sun allows!
@lsmith254 ~ Ok, toast may work well! I will try it in the morning. We get such good morning sun here (usually showers come in the afternoon - which bums me out) so I'll toast my bread and let you know! (o:
So, are you saying the bread lasted longer than it would have had it been cooked in a regular oven? I wonder why this could be, possibly you are onto something here...I have read how microwaves change the nutritive value of food. Perhaps the sun's rays (unseen by the eyes) do not kill beneficial nutrients. You may have just reinvented the bread "wheel"!! I am saving for one of these Starting Right Now! I had seen them advertised before, but the price was a bit high for yet another "appliance"
@lsmith254 ~ Yes that is what I am saying. Here's my theory. When I interviewed the Global Sun Oven Pres. on my radio show he talked about how what it does is bring food to the temp inside the cooking chamber...not radiate the heat from top or bottom - but from all around (like a convection oven without the fan) and it would NOT burn...simply meet the temp of the air in the box. So....I think that THAT WAY of cooking the bread made the texture stay better and last longer. (more).....
....You may also be right in that the rays 'treat' the food this way due to it being a natural way of cooking. All I know is the texture usually changes over a couple of days on my oven baked fresh milled whole wheat and this one has remained the same texture and softness as day one.
Talk about some happy folks! Free energy and better bread! I'm so stoked!
I have to tell you a secret...I get to sell a special pack of these soon...email me privately and I'll clue you in.
OMGosh woman what cant you do? Your videos get shared with so many of my friends here in the CA Sierras. Love how you make healthy whole foods that cost very little money, and require a wee bit of time. Keep the videos coming.
@MotherLodeBeth ~ I can't do Algebra. My kids had to teach themselves (we homeschooled) and one went way on to calculus and trig (pffft...not me!).
Thanks for passing these on. It is my hope they will inspire others to try to do some things like this. Truly if *I* can do this kind of stuff ANYONE can!
Tomorrow it's pinto beans and cornbread in the solar oven! We shall see how it goes!! (o:

today it was clear most the day at 90plus then at 200pm we had our 45 min rain then it clear again had a nice sun set
i would love to have one but there is always some fat person walking in the house with fast food that my doctors told me not to eat
RCvolunteer1978 7 months ago
@RCvolunteer1978 ~ Sounds like good solar cooking weather! Well, maybe if you use one of these the fast food won't be so tempting! (o:
Thanks for the comment!
