  • Kristis alive, ok, and doing just fine. She's even coaching my competetive cheer squad.

  • Was this the girl who's story was in CosmoGIRL or Seventeen?

  • cheerleading is a waste of time and unnecessary risk to bodies.

  • I admire her spirit but she could have further damaged herself with that stunt... really should have stayed still, a few cheers are not worth life in a wheelchair.

  • thats awesome. who's got spirit? we do baby!

  • Wow! Thats what I call a real Cheerleader! Shes got alot of spirit. poor girl

  • i remember her she was like all of the news and stuff...hope she was ok...

  • i was watching the game when this happened, i live about 30 miles from SIU, i about crapped myself cuz it was a timeout and the camera was on SIUS bench and all of a sudden u see a cheerleader in the background fall

  • she fell nearly 15ft headfirst on to a hard ground... how would u like it if that happened to u and no one cared??

she is lucky.. a fall like that is really bad

    good thing she is ok

  • that was a really cheerleader as she gets wheeled away she still does a cheer!! not she gots spirt

  • the stereotype for the ditzy cheerleader has made amazing progess, well done.

  • cheetostud what does that mean?

  • sagar858d223 is a pervert!

  • do u guys go around just advertising that?

  • how the hell did she fall?? The crappy camera angle they show here makes it seem like she just fainted and fell off the top....I really don't understand HOW or WHY she fell. Is there a better video of this, where we can see what happened better?

  • i dont care about cheerleaders, but even this brought a tear to my eye... (okay, so i saw the movie bring it on)... that gal had spirit

  • I feel so bad for her. I know she must have really hurt herself being a cheerleader myself. What was up with her spotter?

  • I think he was spotting her ass, but not sure.

  • we didn;t even see the fall.

  • GO SALUKIS!

  • omg i hope shes ok

  • I was in the arean that afternoon and to see Kristi cheer to the schools fight song brought a tear to my eye, i was so proud. This happened with just a few minutes left in the championship game of the conference tournament. Yes she is ok and in on the squad again this year.

  • those bases should have caught her!

  • nice upskirt...

  • i dont cheer and i dont really know anything 'bout it, but i still feel bad 'cause you could tell that was pretty high to be falling and to hit the floor.hope she was okay.

  • This even made the news here in Sydney Australia. When i saw i asked myself, am i supposed to care? :)

  • ok. for all of you assholes who know nothing about collegiate cheerleading, i'm amazed that you even took the time to watch this clip, let alone comment about it. she didn't simply fall a few inches off a skateboard, or 3 feet off a bike...she fell head-first from about the height of a 2nd story window. she's lucky she didn't die instantly (though i'm sure several of you will post comments to the contrary), and prolly why she chose to cheer when she heard her school's fight song.

  • Uh...thanks for making my point for me.

"She was cheering to show that she all right and that everyone shouldn't be freaking out, idiot."

  • Sorry, I didn't even realize that this video *had* a "point" to make in the first place. You're saying that the creator of this video was trying to convey a message? That seems at odds with the fact that this was simply television coverage of a basketball game where a cheerleader happened to fall, and then made an ass of herself by continuing to cheer while being wheeled out of the arena.

I will close by saying, and I mean absolutely no offense by this, that you are an idiot.

  • Just wanted to jump in on this conversation, but I realized I had nothing to say.

  • May I take a moment to correct your grammar? Your comment should read, "She was cheering to show that she was all right, and that no one should be freaking out, idiot."

    Go back to English class.

  • Did you place a video camera in front of your tv? This is some old school video transfer here people. Stand in awe.

  • Yeah I did the camera in front of the TV thing, that was the easiest way to transfer it off of the DVR... Damn Dish Network locks their equipment down. If you know of a way to pull it into a PC for editing let me know - I have about 25 hours worth of stuff I'd like to pull onto DVD archive...

  • The cheerleader's name is Kristi Yamaoka - look it up in Wikipedia... I didn't realize they banned certain elements of cheerleading after that within the Missouri Valley Conference, dang.

  • It was an incredibly heartfelt and brave response from her to cheer after being lifted. To remember all the people watching and want to lift their worries is a beautiful thing.

  • Oh, that poor girl! I don't mean because of her fall, but because she kept on cheering. How embarrassing! To think that what you do is so vital that, by golly, I'm gonna keep on cheering despite being on a stretcher! LOL! Did you see the woman trying to stop her from cheering? She kept grabbing her hand like, "Please, sweetie, everyone's going to laugh at you on YouTube someday if you cheer."

  • lol wtf

  • I was a Saluki Cheerleader back in the late 90's and I remember watching this LIVE when it happened, I cried in worry, and laughed in amazement and cheered out of pride for this cheerleader. Her spirit made me PROUD to be a SALUKI all over again. GO DAWGS!

  • great story
