  • Wicked blade. Looks like it's being angry on your skin.

  • Never seen a straight razor shave before. I'm sitting here literally holding my breath and stretching my own skin. Very cool. I may have to try this. Thanks for the post.

  • Du blev ikke for aggressiv, du hev faktisk bladet sidelæns. Ser ellers interessant ud. Meget let tryk, ser det ud som.

  • Hej :)

Hvor kommer du fra i Danmark?

  • I'm waiting on a Feather AC SS here. Can't wait to give it a go. What blades do you prefer in your razor?

  • @NeutronDance I have only tried Feather blades. Congrats with the razor.

  • that looks a lot better than a razor. razors don't like me and i don't like them >=[

how come you didn't rinse your face with hot water to "soften the hair" and stuff?

  • @53329 That a very good question. I did that before I started filming. ;)

You should try old school wetshaving, if you are having problems with multibladed modern razors.

  • my grandpa is 88 and shaves like this...EXCEPT, no lather and dry and he's been using the same straight razor blade for 20 years.

  • @andrewfyip lol, sounds pretty hardcore.

  • @mokujingris1 I cringe. I remember going outside to get some shaving cream but by the time I got back, he was already scraping his face. Sounded like sand paper...

  • Пока он намыливался я бы уже 5 раз побрился обычным одноразовым станком.

  • Straight razors are for men, Gillette razor blades are for boys.

  • @MrHanz3n what a douche comment safety razors are for people who dont have time to use straight razor or dont like lacerations on the face. straight razors have a STEEP learning curve and are quite dangerous and it is something you have to ease yourself into

  • love all ur video, thumbs up!

  • @henrik7372 Great! Thx for commenting.

  • @ronikondo I do all of those things along with the use of and oldschool blade. I enjoy everything about it and the results are good.

I do not think that the risk is greater then the reward. But thank you for your input.

    Best regards

    Thomas

  • @ronikondo Gillette razor blades does not give the same feeling when shaving, it gives me skinirritation and little pimples. Its not compareable to the feeling of shaving oldschoolstyle, that feeling is awesome.

I am not sure what you consider to be risky.

  • @mokujingris1 Application of alum after shaving will soothe your shaving irritation

  • @snipper1ie I have tried alum, I didnt really get into it, it did not feel that comfortable to me. But thx for mentioning it.

  • @mokujingris1 I'll take it you've not tried Gillette Bleue Extras then... :)

  • what brush did you use for this shave, how much did it cost and where can i get the same one from

  • @fahimsultan93 You really should view my video on custom made shaving brushes.

  • thomas from dennmark, u look like a skin head

  • @lawnprinter300 lol do I really? :)

  • @lawnprinter300 - I don't think skinheads care for huge plugs very much - I have a feeling they are a little more... conservative? Plus Tomas (I think that's how it's spelled in danish) seems WAY too nice to be a skinhead. It's a good look though man, keep it.

  • @dellickson1 lol thanks man! :)

  • thank you very much, your videos are so amazing that i have obtained a shavette and started shaving with it

  • @soixe1997 Thats awesome! So how is it going for you? I have never tried a shavette myself, I would like to know what you think of it.

  • @mokujingris1 it shaves well, but the blade is very small. I cant wait to get my first standard strait

  • @vintagelements Thats awesome.

  • @mokujingris1 It's better to shave after a shower right? Since the hair is smoother. Or what do you suggest :P? Though I use those machine stuff to shave. My skin gets so irritated with razors.

  • Hey, look, it's Santa Claus at 3:10!

  • Love the videos sir! Question, do you prefer DE shaving, traditional straight razor shaving or the feather shaving?

  • @FroopieLoopies Thank you, I am glad that you do.

It is kind of a hard question, but I must say that its more and more rare that I use a traditional straight. I always use a DE and my head, but on my face I use both DEs and feather straights. I really enjoy the sharpness of the machined blades, the regular straights just cannot get that sharp.

  • @mokujingris1 great thanks!

  • I'm of Irish decent and have very sensitive skin. The only razors that seem to work for me are Mach 3 and the Mach with 5 blades (whatever it's called). I'm petrified of trying a straight razor. I'll get bleeding and rashes all over my face.

  • @Gossage54 If it works for you and you are happy, no need to change it then. :)

  • thank you sooo much!

  • @tinytoma25 No problem, you are welcome.

  • @tinytoma25 internet?

  • hello there! where can i get that straight razor from?

  • @tinytoma25 I go it from classicshaving com

  • Nice video, very understanding and easy to follow, however:

    - I'm using DE razor for ages, 100% satisfied but I think about buying a straight razor with disposable blades (some of them use a DE blade), just for fun. Would it be in any way different compared to DE razor or straight razor?

    - What is Your experience in this topic?

    - DE vs Straight razor vs Shavette?

    Thanks 4 answer ;)

  • @123zoranche123 Glad you like the vids.

The shave with a straight will be quite different then the shave with the DE. There are cheap models of "shavettes" (Shavette is a brand by Dovo, but the term is often used for all straights with disposable blades) available on ebay. They are not good quality, but they will give you an idea of how it is to shave with such a razor, get one like that to start with.

A regular straight is another story entirely, I suggest you look at straightrazorplace . com

  • arent you supposed to stretch the skin?

  • @goatkiller68 It most certainly can be very helpfull. I also learned this, as you can see in the update video: "Feather shave part II".

  • mokujin you have taken the form of a real person!?

  • @Crim122 Yes - well sort of. "Gris" means pig, so I am Mokujin the Pig, in real person. ;)

  • @mokujingris1 Wait, Mokujin has a real definition? I always thought it was just the character from Tekken ha.

  • @Crim122 You are right, I have taken the name from the character in Tekken. :)

  • i will never use a straight razor cuz i value my life

  • @mintkendishin I am glad that you value your life. And straight razor shaving is not for everybody, so best you stay away from it, if you feel insecure about the whole thing.

  • Your skin is probably as sensitive as mine. What do you find to be the best treatment for razor burn?

  • @salazch12 Use no pressure and proper blade angle. Good prep and lather is a must as well.

  • @DefMurda Those are very good questions indeed.

What is all the commotion about, with this whole shave-thing?

I suggest that you try it out, then maybe you will understand. :)

    Merry X-mas!

  • @evanlikestoparty It is not better, nor worse.

It is a matter a personal preference, how wide and heavy a razor should be. You will have to try out for yourself how a razor feels in your hand, and how it handles when you shave. Best of luck.

  • that sandalwood cream is awesome! i just bought some and it smells so nice. Good choice my man.

  • @frogstomp91 Yeah its awesome! I think all the four scents are great! :)

  • A little hint... If you use home made soap you won't need all those products.

Home made soap contains glycerin, home made soap also provides more lubrication than any shaving cream you could buy. Real shaving soap is homemade soap with a few extra additives. The shaving soap you buy at many stores is just hand soap with sent in it..

  • @Greenmarine6 I have not gotten into making my own soap yet. Maybe I will some day. Untill then, I try out different products, some of them homemade by others, some from big brands.

I do not agree that shaving soap is just handsoap with a scent, I think that there is a big difference between the soaps and creams on the market, and the more expensive ones generally tends to be more luxuries and be of higher quality.

  • @Greenmarine6 please stop misleading people. most soaps marketed to straight shavers or DE shavers contain glycerin. glycerin is not the only product beneficial to shaving. you can also buy glycerin in a bottle and add it to your lather. uberlather.

shaving soap is nothing more than soap that creates a lather beneficial to shaving. it doesn't need special ingredients or etc it just needs to work. some people use shampoo for shaving and many will tell you that a soap isn't needed at all.

  • If I had a million banknotes I would challenge you who maintain the right shaving direction is in the direction of the hair growth, to shave me that way. It does not work for me at all. I majorly shave against the hair growth.

  • @Lepsaeus How comfortable shaving against the grain is, differs from person to person. Some people like shaving ATG very much, and get a fine smoothe result from it. Others - like myself - get massive skinirritation and sore skin from it, and therefore shave only WTG/XTG.

I am not saying one direction is better or more correct than another - I am saying that you need to find out what works best for you.

  • Hi Moku, I've been on the market for feather razor. Great review, excellent points and technique.

I heard it was sharp and i wanted to see for myself. Just wow, you look like u shaved against the grain, also the delicacy to which you performed the shaving... even caused a slight nick on your lip. Was that because the razor is so sharp that it could happen? or was there a bump on ur skin prior to shaving that spot?

  • Question: I have very thick hair, would i be satisfied with "professional" or "professional light" or "professional super"? To put that in perspective, i recently got my razor honed at classic shave, it was a decent shave but some of my hair is so think that the blade "tugs" at the hair, as appose to slicing thru it smoothly, so i've just been dieing to get a sharp razor.!

  • @PartitionPrince I would strongly recommend that you try a feather razor, it is on another level of sharpness and smoothness, I can not say enough good things about it.

  • @PartitionPrince I very glad you could use it.

I really cannot comment on the blades, other then the "Professional", which is the only one I have tried. I am extremely pleased with this blade, is very sharp and - very importantly - very smoothe.

The nick was caused by me having to put the blade in a 90 degree angle under the nose, and I accidently "sliced" just a bit with the razor.

The razor takes some getting used too, I rarely nick myself with it, now that a have gotten used to the razor.

  • were did you purchase the feather straight razor? How much? what blades did get for it? Thanks

  • @paulwilliamsd classicshaving - 150 us dollars. I got the "professional" blades. Enjoy!

  • You need help finding out the proper procedure of lathering. You're butchering it.

  • @IMMUNEHUMAN Well enlighten me then, please.

  • @IMMUNEHUMAN You're talking to a lathering pro and legend, I suggest you pull your head in and show some respect.

  • @gamerguy69 You don't have to be intimidated by his expensive equipment. This man has no clue how to lather properly. There is a fact I will point out and you can accept it or not that's not my problem. I don't care if you want to worship him as the next god or kiss his feet, all it does is show your ignorance of proper lathering techniques. Do your research next time.

  • @IMMUNEHUMAN I am always interested in learning how to better or improve my technique.

Can you be more specific in your critique, maybe some suggestions on how I can improve? Or even better, make a video illustration your points?

  • @IMMUNEHUMAN. If it works, who cares? He does great videos, and it works for him. We all have different preferences. Don't be a twit, and sod off.

  • @TSardaukar He doesn't do it because it works. He does it because he enjoys it and he will enjoy it much more with a proper lather. You're the twit.

  • @IMMUNEHUMAN I understand that you think something could be done better. As I wrote to you earlier, I am always curious about new techniques, when it comes to wet shaving.

Unfortunatly, you critique is not very constructive, so its hard for me to benefit from it in any way.

  • @IMMUNEHUMAN: Good comeback.

  • @IMMUNEHUMAN That lather looks really good to me. lather is there to lubricate the skin, so that when the blade passes, it cuts the hair, but slides over the skin, preventing razor burn and nicks. a heavier lather will do this job better, but his looks plenty heavy to me.

  • @bludpuddle That sounds great! I am glad that I could help. I assume that you have also seen my review of the Feather, othervise it might be helpfull to you.

  • Wow, it doesn't make any sound while cutting hair. It must be damn sharp.

Why didn't you wet your beard before applying lather? Moreover, I'm a great fan of "face lathering", and I recommend it.

    Thanks for sharing ^_^

  • @egarrulo It is so sharp, that its really unbelievable.

i think I wet my face before filming.

I also facelather sometimes, it offers comfort aswell.

    You are welcome. :)

  • love how you put on that lather thick. cleaner smoother shave.

  • @Sinfull702x602 I agree. The thick leather put on throughly is a big part of the process for me. Makes the shave and the whole experience more enjoyable.

  • @mokujingris1 yes sir.

  • great job man.we all do it different.whatever feels good.

  • @popebenadict16 Thx. I find your way of shaving rather amusing. :)

  • Great Job! I love how you actually made a video for the request from your last video. You are really doing a service for everyone who watches. Thanks a bunch mate :D

  • @kanochain Thank you very much. I am happy to do these videos for you fellow shavers out there.

  • Thank you for your videos.

  • @wheelerwood No problem. :)

  • great video cheers from australia. i have never used one but i would love to try. i just dont want to cut myself everywhere.

  • @planes100 Cheers mate - you are very welcome.

Give it a shot, its not that hard if you concentrate and focus, and its a great pleasure.

  • I would get it if I could afford it, but instead I'll settle for a shavette.

  • @gamemeister27 I understand. The Shavette is very affordable. The Feather however is a real treat.

  • Do you still use the Feather Straight Razors? I was wondering if its still holding up or if maybe you tossed it because it fell apart or anything? Im asking because I just purchased one yesterday and Im curious if people still use it. Your one of very few people who actually posted videos about the razor. Really informative, thanks for the posts!

  • @bill8585 I still use it. It is a very solid product, that will probably outlive me, if it is not mistreated.

Glad that you found the video usefull.

  • where do you buy your feather blades from?

  • As always, great video. Your comments are definately true, especially with regards to weight and feedback of the blade on your face. With these razors, you barely need to touch the blade to your beard and it comes right off. It has taken me about a month to get use to mine.

  • I really appreciate your videos, I find them very down to earth.

I use the Feather RG and really like it. I went from DE's to the straight and i really love the shave I get from the Feather. Have you tried the other blades available?

Looking forward to more videos from you..

    Thanks

  • Thank you very much, it is nice that people take their time to write me and tell me they like th videos.

I have not tried the other blades from feather, but I definitly plan to do this in the future.

The one blade i probably wont use (but i might buy a pack just to have it) is the guarded blade. I am sure that the guard works well (I remember guarded wilkinson multibaldes from my teen years and the guard was an outstanding protection), but it takes away the thrilling dangeraspect of the shave.

  • Comment removed

  • thank you so much for feeding my feather appetite.. i have become so interested in this razor and cannot wait to purchase one.. i believe i'll be getting the dx.. just because i'm vain... however.. do you feel as if the japanese straight handle would have been a better purchase?

  • That is really hard to say, because how you hold the razor is a personal preference.

However, I think that you are better of starting with a folding model, that way you have more options, since you can hold the folding model folded out straight, as I do.

    Good luck!
