  • "I don't recall who sang the song", when I heard that I laughed fully knowing he wrote the song...I had the great honor of opening for Mr. Robbins in 1977. What a talent, what a HAM!!! Oh, gosh, he was like this every show from what I've heard.

  • 18 people thought it said 'dis i like'

  • i agree this is what country music is all about.loveeeeeeeee it

  • Marty Robbins walked on water in country music , no one could match him. I cried like a baby when he died.maggie

  • oops...Feleena

  • you need to listen to Faleena. kinda ties El Paso and El Paso City all together. I live in Nashville and this town hasn't seen nor heard music like this in YEARS!!!! SAD....

  • One of the best, so sad that country music has changed so much, for the worse

  • Brilliant, a true legend. This song is so cleverly written, not many can write a song then come up with a sequel, rip marty x

  • One of the best ballads of all time. Very well crafted song. And Marty--he has such a beautiful, masculine voice. The tonal quality is extraordinary. I miss him.

  • GREAT GREAT WOW LOVE THIS CONCERT

  • Shaking the old man's hand at the end just adds to the legend that was Marty Robbins!

  • I swear some people just miss the like button

  • Well we found 17 people who do not know true historic talent when they hear it

Maybe they'll wake up some day.

  • @yvonnejm51 its all sythesizers now days.. get a pretty face.. get somebody to write a song for em and sell it.. yes, all us 45+ yr olds are blessed, not just in country but in all music.. look at all the classic stations on radio, that is the only ones making any real money.. and so many young folks are always tellin me how they love my old tapes.. i hate it for em, but at least there is recordings, so not all is lost.

  • @kingslegion1 you tryin to say marty aint got a pretty face??? LOL

  • @notaclerk1 oooh no by all means no.. he had it all and needed no synthesizers was my point.

  • A real live performance! Love when the mike fails.

  • Marty was one of the greatest. No one else like him

  • This man is in a class of his own, I love country music and enjoy listening to Jim Reeves, Don Williams, Kenny Rogers, Kris Kristofferson, and Dolly Parton and cannot compare as they are all magnificent with their own styles, but I musst admit that Marty brings tears to my eyes his stories are great!! God rest his soul!

  • marty robbins and many others from the 50's and 60's really rock. artists today are a joke compared to the days that music told you a story. belie dat!

  • love it, great to see marty and don having a giggle on stage as usual, my dads favourite tune ahhh memories ......

  • The Meat Puppets made a great cover of this, its on the Rare Meat album its pretty neat. The original is just as good though!

  • one of the greatest cowboy singers ever!!!.RIP MARTY.

  • I like Justin Bieber better.

  • @imjustpassinthru, Are you freaking serious?? WOW

  • @imjustpassinthru, Are you freaking serious?? WOW

Justin Bieber doesn't have sh*t on Marti Robbins

  • @imjustpassinthru Well, we all now what must be done. (Draws .45 Peacemaker)

  • @imjustpassinthru you are a troll. I am from India and didn't grow up with country music, but this is song and El Paso are amazing. Wonderful story telling and very easy to listen. I didn't even know about this song about 2 months when I stumbled across it on youtube. Feel like I am really there in El Paso.

  • @ehopeinjesus Since you like part I & II of the story you should also hear the girls story: Feleena - Marty Robins - look it up here on youtube - it is worth it

  • i put the video msbones 1950 a waiting grave not out of anger but as a warning to others of what can happen when one set of people have to much power

  • marty believed in reincarnation. the songs "el paso and el paso city" were written after dreams he had had. he dreamed that he was the cowboy in the songs.

  • @runtt007 Never know, maybe Marty was once a Love struck, Gunsligin' Cowboy...

    I can see it,

  • Hysterical!

  • whata tropper he was even when the mikes failed,

  • An American Troubador.

But American first. Love ya Marty and miss your presence.

  • I have been watching these Marty Robbins clips and I would love to know where and when the concert was?

  • so sweet, all of it.

    miss ya Marty

  • Marty was a star that realized his fans came first. He always had time for his fans. The voice fit the personality.

  • marty is and always will be my favorite singer. i will soon be 55 and i have enjoyed his music since childhood. no other singer can come close to this faboulous man! God bless you marty! you are missed

  • Awesome, became a Marty Robbins fan around 25 years ago, this one along with Ava Maria Morales and Bill Thaxton are my favourites!

  • One word for Marty's rendition of this song: OUTSTANDING

  • i can close my eyes and i see my self ridin a horseback in the bad lands of new mexico

  • You can't beat Marty Robbins on a good day in fact you can't beat Marty Robbins on even a bad day!

  • They just don't get any better than this ! What a voice...what a presence....fantastic singer,songwriter,entertainer and all around great guy !!!!!!

  • Great I've loved this song and Marty Robbins for a long time. I have this song on 45vinyl

  • great

  • Can anyone tell me what the name of this video is !!!!

  • I was in the cockpit of a National Airlines flight from LAX to IAH at 35000 ' above the Badlands of New Mexico when we were warned about a conflicting DC-10, head-on, 100 miles away. We were less than 4 minutes from colliding. As we veered south into Mexico to avoid the the intruding Continental Airlines DC-10, Marty Robbin's El Paso City was blaring on the cockpit radio. Two planes passed in the night. Neither saw the other.

  • @XSkycop Great story, thanks for sharing. I was in Tombstone a couple years ago. That's a creepy place.

God Bless and thanks for looking after us.

    Rick

  • 3 related songs with El Paso and Feleena. I understand he wrote while they drove back to AZ. God blessed him and blessed us with his talent.

  • when country music was GOOD!

  • It's about the City Of El Paso Texas.

  • Comment removed

  • @Gresh431 It's about the city of El Paso, in Texas, but it's also about another song that Marty Robbins sang, "El Paso", about a jealous cowboy and a Mexican woman named Feleena.

  • @Wolfsflower1 I heard El Paso and Feleena before they are great songs. I looked on Wikipedia and they said the song was about a guy flying over El Paso in a airplane and it reminded him of the story of El Paso.

  • He was a Great Singer Songwriter..:)

  • i love this song my dad introduced me to marty robbins thx dad

  • Doesn't seem it is now going on 28 years he passed.

  • i just lov this guy too . he was one of the best.

  • i'm not gay. but i loved the man

  • @uranorexic not your real age..whatever you say. uranorexic your a bater and a troll, doing a little history search on your apparently reveals this. I can see you have made a lot of friends on the web LOL.

  • @uranorexic,,well your 28 years of age...enough said.

  • @uranorexic No he wasn't gay, I don't know how old you are but in those days acting as such wasn't nothing abnormal.. After all we all did it and I know i am not gay. Your trying to fit today's standards to a day in yesteryear.

  • @deltabtry In the good old days gay meant what it said HAPPY as per the Oxford dictionary

  • @candw87 yes you are correct, I actually meant to post that. Thanx canw87

  • @uranorexic No he wasn't gay, this was a different day and time and he was a showman and entertainer and above all a great singer and musician..

  • Yeah, you're right....I was just 20. Opened for him at Big Country in Waterloo, IA. Band was called Fifth of Country, I played guitar and steel.

  • In today's security fueled times, if this happened recently, the poor fellow would have been body slammed, handcuffed, tassered, and locked up...if they got too close to the star or performer. :)

  • @kd5hms63 How times have changed..truly a shame.

  • The late great 'gunslinger' Marty Robbins set the bar high for todays so called Country singers. His ballads are legendary, his style is unmatched, and his

mark on Country music will never fade away!!!

  • Q:If Marty Robbins' mustache and Freddy Mercurys' mustache got in a fight, who would win?

    A: Everyone

  • they talk about george jones and merle haggard ,marty robbins is in that same class

  • Brilliant just brilliant

  • Just got chills hearing this song.....I opened for him in Waterloo, IA.

  • @steveyraynelson You must have been a kid then. 20's. Did you get to talk to him?

The first time I heard this song it blew me away. That was 30 years ago. About a year ago I heard Mr Shorty for the first time. Wow.

  • Nothing like traveling with the whole family across this great country listening to Marty.. Thanks Marty!!!!

  • He is so real! Marty Robbins.

    Miss ya man.

  • He was one of very few Artists it just flows from. So naturally talented.

  • when and where is this???

  • Just great dont hear real country much

    Lots of feeling

  • I met him backstage in the late 1970's at the Horden Pavillion in Sydney.

  • This man left us waaaaaaaaay too early.

  • I LOVE MARTY ROBBINS!!!

  • He is the greatest , not only singer but actor, i love his musik .Hamburg , Germany

  • Marty had a knack of making any unusual happening a part of his act. Instead of ignoring the man who came up to the stage, Marry showed true professionalism by good naturedly playing along with the man. Not only did Marty make this man's day but also enhanced his own performance at the same time.

  • Miss you Marty, miss you Chuco! Someday I will return to you, El Paso!

  • this man was and is a prolific singer...is this the only video available, which makes him look like a fool with that scum bag in the audience??????? get a grip

  • I love Marty's voice; it is so natural. Just like Johnny's and Waylon's. Not so fakey like today's Country musicians.

  • wat a fag pose marty

  • What a class act this guy was!!

That was nice of him to approach the man and talk to him!!

  • Now live in El Paso, partly due to Marty Robbins music

  • the finest voice ever to be heard. no one will ever be marty's equal. he was awesome and he is missed.

  • The man will never die!!!!!

  • In my book, the greatest singer and true entertainer that ever lived! Still miss you, Marty. Fantastic video.

  • I think Marty had a bit of sugar in his tank eh?

  • What in the world was with the microphone and the old man's hat?! It was enough to make Marty crack up. . ."You better go to the restroom". . .FUNNY!

  • NASCAR car racer by day; Country music star by night = LEGEND

  • Awesome video! What a great, great man!

  • Jim Croce and Marty are two of the best storytellers.

  • @mrbobevans What a voice!!!!!

  • Marty, you take me back to my youth with my dad drinking beer with his mates. Its funny I now do the same to your beautiful music.....

  • The best song to make a country trip in the US.

  • NO!!!; He is the best! God has voice...

  • marty robbins: one of the best of the best

  • is this show available on dvd? anyone, please.

  • I can't figure out what that guy is doing by the stage, but this is a great song, by another great performer, who left us much too soon.

  • He'll be back. The song is saying as much.

  • { love this one}

  • He sung these songs like stories. He was one of the greatest story tellers of all time!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @deelberg He did believe in reincarnation. What this song is about.

  • i love this. Got my 15 year old listening to it.

  • @deelberg yes he did cause this was his song ,,it was said he really had preminissions of what you call an early death like alott of the old time cowboys,,kinda cool and pretty good!!!! i like your comment !!!

  • it look like the holland concert, it would be nice to know just what was going on--dosnt look at all like austin city limits stage

  • It was in West Palm Beach FL in 1980

  • he was a'legend surely missed to this very day these so called up and coming country singers of today could take afew lessons from martys style and vocal ability not this swift style of so called country

  • @morrisminor695, I agree Marty Robbins is one of the greatest!!

  • @morrisminor695 I couldn't agree with you more.

  • @morrisminor695 Friend...his "style and vocal ability" came NATURALLY by way of profound earnestness. What you mean, you say very beautifully. You are, in any event, right. Thanks.

  • I like another countryish tune called El Paso but this isnt it....anyone know which one that is

  • 'El Paso'.......you think

  • marty sings 2 el paso city and el paso if thats any help my dad told me that

  • There's a trilogy: Feleena, El Paso, and El Paso City.

    Feleena is now on YouTube.

  • This reminds of Buddy Holly's "Peggy Sue Got Married" which was a follow up to "Peggy Sue." "El Paso City" was a follow up to "El Paso". I like "El Paso City" and "Peggy Sue Got Married" more than originals.

  • Where did this performance come from? I have to have a copy of it it.

  • if i'm correct, it's from Austin city limits

  • Thanks, I tried to find it by googling Austin City Limits, but I was notr successful. I am heartbroken. This hadto be one of the happiest times in Marty's life!!

  • @concertgod2

you are 100% correct, the same venue that the late, great Roy Orbison played in 1983, the Orbison concert is available on dvd, so i can't see why marty's hasn't been released.

  • Marty Robbins...one of the very best. Ever. Period!

  • Thats my cousin, no joke.

  • So? We supposed to ask for your autograph?

  • One of the best!!

  • again my grandad danced to ths back in the very old days hehe

  • Marty Robbins was a class act

  • what i was geting at the elderly gentlmans was not an old fool like somebody else commented but a great fan of Marty Robbins.yes Marty respected that ,.Marty was the greatest singer of all times,Im thankfull that we can still injoy his music.

  • Is the guy playing guitar and back vocals (with a beard) Marty's son Ronnie or Marty Jr. Thank you. Marty is one of the best country music ''PERFORMER'' ever.

  • @vendanges3 Just saw your question. The guitar player/background singer with the beard is Jeff Chandler, who used to live in Estes Park, Colorado, and performed with the Lazy B Wranglers. His wife used to work in my souvenir shop there.

  • @mexdavet Thank's for the info. I'm a great fan of Marty Robbins. Great singer and one of the best entertainer of the country music world!

  • @vendanges3 Around 1980-81, Marty Robbins and his band (including Jeff Chandler) came to Estes Park for a one-night concert at the Lazy B Ranch, where Jeff used to perform. I was news editor and photographer for the local newspaper, and got to meet, interview, and photograph him before the concert. He was very gracious and had a great sense of humor. I love his music, especially "El Paso City."

  • THE GREAT MARTY ROBBINS

  • That elderly gentleman must of been a real fan and realy wanted to get marty attention and he did with his squirrel he got to shake hands with him, he must of told all his buddys on coffee row that he got to shake hands with the great marty Robbins, he must of retold over and over wow how great was that, for that elderly gentman..

  • Marty was great -He respected all his fans young or old-that's why he shook the gentleman's hand

  • Man, but did he handle that old fool with grace. That's serious class there.

Marty Robbins, a true Western Gentleman. Here's to you, wherever you are.

  • @SeverusFelix

marty certainly didn't think him an old fool, he made the old mans day, and treat him with a mix of humour but most of all, respect. Isn't it sad when people regard the elderly as "old fools", we'll all be old one day !

  • @sarahsboy1 He had something to tell his grand children -When he shook Marty's hand

  • if I had that jacket...

  • Texas rules.

  • yes it does yes it does

  • When I had the chance of coming to the US, I was given the choice between 2 cities; Either El Paso TX or Cincinati OH.

Without blinking an eye I chose El Paso, just because of Marty Robbins' song; there wasn't one I knew about Cincinati.

Funny, how sometimes decicions are made - Oh, I once went to Anthony, NM (right @ the corner from El Paso) and saw this narrow "creek", with a few drops of water trickling down to whereever, and was told that this is the Rio Grande River - imagine my shock

  • it's all gone to agriculture and hydropower now. there is no rio grande in texas most of the year.

  • and that kids is how its done!what a showman!

  • Silly old sod . Thanks 1

  • the old man out front with the squirel on his hat was stepping on the speaker chords.

  • what asong

  • really nice band :D

  • Marty IS Class deidreolan!

    Miss ya Marty.

  • Its a great song, sung by a great artist, and how gracious is he with the eccentric fan, can you imagine how precious some performers could be in the same circumstance? The man's all class.

  • +~+~*
