  • Wow, amazing someone was right there with a video camera to watch this, now only if they new how to use the camera this would be a great video.

  • at least he had the time to react and swing the cab around so it was on top of the crash not the bottom !!

  • pretty sure he left his brain at home that day... what a fucken retard setting up that close to the bank.

  • its funny how all of a sudden everyones a crane expert

  • its funny how all of a sudden everyones a crane expert.

  • Is there always an even bigger crane, or how do they get it out of there later?

  • i saw this in henderson waitakere on triangle rd. not the waikato

  • The kiwi that approved the foundations for that crane said "yeah bro it will be sweet as, we'll be able to go home early boyz and watch da all blacks"

  • When the cameraman shouts "its sinking" the crane driver had about 6 seconds before it went over, he should have dropped the load. Total fool, hope he was fined for being such a dumb operator.

  • @SCOOTERBOY40029 he was luffing in to reduce load on the outrigger. Also would like to know how you would of "dropped the load" with a quick release???

You are showing your moronacy, stick to scooters SCOOTERBOY40029 and leave the crane driving to the men you child.

  • @SCOOTERBOY40029 fuck you are stupid little boy!! the operator did a fuckin great job, the crane was gonna topple anyway even if he did drop his load, he turned the cab to save himself!! go back to listening to scooter on your mommys cd player!!

  • You can see operator hitting the glass in cab and breaking window . There is a hole in the seat now

  • Bad foundation.

  • Operator calls boss

    Operator - Boss I got a problem

    Boss - Whats that

Operator - Im lying down on the job

Boss - Well get your lazy ass up and back in the crane

Operator - Umm boss, so is the crane

    Boss - #@*$%#*

  • Hope the operator is ok?

  • there is something very wrong!

  • DROP THE LOAD LINE,had a full second to do so,is it panic that makes an operator freeze up,I suppose its all in the training.Instinctive reflexes

  • Don't run towards the crane.

  • hahahahaha mean ride mate?

  • Crane driver was in OH SHIT mode

  • Comment removed

  • @VIDIEKIDIE Just luck and the counter balance weights.

  • Comment removed

  • DARUM SEIT IHR JA AUCH NICHT IN DER EU!!

  • something falls from the cab area @1.08

  • Only an idiot would have ok`d that crane position!

  • Por listos! solo espero que no hayan matado ningún pez.

  • yr all not pro!!!!

  • A certain commonly applicable Latin expletive comes to mind. Many times.

  • @dxutube Something like "Which of you verpas checked the soil stability before the crane moved in?" ?

  • It never ceases to amaze me how fools get put in charge of projects or expensive equipment, as a driver it is the MOST BASIC fundamental NOT to put a crane so close to the edge of ANY embankment especially on made-up ground, then rather than lower the load immediately/ASAP regardless of damage to the load he fanny’s around wasting time, then slews the counterweight which helps whip the whole thing over, you should always be at least the height of the embankment away from the embankment edge.

  • At the beginning of the video you can see a disturbing crack in the asphalt. The camera seemed to focus on it. I agree good job starting to swing the boom around but it''s yanked pretty hard at the end. Glad crane operator came through.

  • Wtf

  • I was told that another company would only do it with a 300 ton,so that they would be further away, but cost to much,so hence the video.

  • @kiwifitter I would want a 500ton and at least 20 feet further away.

  • Chuck stuffed up

  • hmm Typisch Wessies

  • That was Chuck Norris in the cab.. He was fine

  • Ur face hijo de puta!! Haha

  • if you look at 1:07 you can see him fly out of the crane

  • he hit the panic button! spun him around so it didn't crush him

  • Kranplätze müssen verdichtet sein

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

  • Jajaja very funny!!

  • @edgar18xxx cockhead

  • Operator did great at the end. I am guessing he was buckled in but he spun that cab around perfectly and probably saved himself a bit of injury or worse. Good job besides the whole unstable ground incident.

  • @zmost88 The counter balance weights did that. The operator was to busy reaching for the toilet paper.

  • i had my doubt about that sinking pad from the beginning, crane operator doesn't understand laws of physics very well

  • wow that guy in the crane must have shit himself

  • Ok that'll do fellas...tea break!

  • we used to say only in America.. in this case ONLY IN NZ

  • apparently everyone on the interwebs is an expert crane operator.

  • He should have put it on more stable ground. Or put maximum counterweight on the rear

  • I'm not expert. However i wonder if they had a bigger crane with longer boom, it means they could be operating from a safer distance from the river and the ground naturally would be firmer and tough to withstand that weight

  • WEEEEEEEEE!!!

  • the worker at 1:00

" Jesus Christ, man. im getting da fuck out of here, oh shit wrong way".

  • I run A.T.s in the U.S. and this would have been operator error, the boss can tell you what ever but it falls to the operator to make the decision. A 1 and a half to 1 ratio from the edge of the drop off would have saved him, if the hole is 10 foot deep you should be 15 feet away.

  • There is a doco that has been made about this accident. Quite a few factors into way this crane tipped over. Watched doco as part of getting my crane operaters ticket

  • Chuck Norris

  • @Ashtree81

yes, he farted on the crane

  • the company had the outrigger pads put there, i guess its a cost cutting technique that saves cost to the company, but they got themselves into deeper shit by using an unsafe cost cutting technique. if the company tells him to set up on the poads, hes gotta set up on the outrigger pads, no matter how much he protests. but i do think he coulda jumped outta the cab.

  • At 0:16 a crack was developing from left to right along the bank at the point where the front wheel was, the guy was even looking at it. Surely he would be monitoring it, but by 0:59 it was a good six inches wide, so it was clear that the whole edge was sliding long before that??

  • Love it

  • holy shit, i hope the operator is ok, and he sues the shit outta that company.

  • @CumminsCrazedredneck why you realize its likely his fault for setting up his machine there... just saying

  • @XyleJKH no, the boss tells him where to set up the crane. he can protest all he wants, but if the boss tells him to set up there, hes gotta set up there. and i think he can sue.

  • @CumminsCrazedredneck Sues them for what? Sues the because HE is a dumbass? Him and his oiler set the crane up on unstable ground. End of story. How is the company liable for his mistake?

  • i wanna be constructioner

  • близко к краю

  • The crane should be at a 1:1 ratio from the bank this would have prevented this accident. The operator should have refused to do this lift, this is operator error. The site super should know about the safe operation of all the equipment on there site.

  • thats really funny hahaha

  • OMG...bloody awsome!!!!! welll captured footage....im my humble opinion ...living proof free fall is necessary...although I doubt the poor bugga had time to even realize what was happening

  • This added 1% to the unemployment rate

  • Accidents happen.

A few years ago, my boss flipped the boom on his big Lorain conventional because of a sticky clutch at high boom angles.

Not really the fault of the NZ operator, because he was probably just doing his job. The Super on the ground is the one who makes the call.

    Expensive lesson...regardless.

  • А этот придурок с радио видел , что насыпь проседает , почему не остановил процесс ?

  • Stupid

  • faark!, imagine if it came towards them

  • Was it just me or did the Crain drive turn his cab away from the direction of the fall on purpose just in tie e??

  • @checkoutdude nah man! that counter-weight slewed the whole machine as soon as she went off balance and tilted...

  • nice move dickhead!!!

  • as a crane op this was the operators fault he should of never of done the lift untill the load was tested and as soon as the ground cracked the lift should of been aborted i realy can't feel sorry for him

  • thats what happens, bank will collaspe under the pressure.

  • MEDIICCC !!

  • engineer's mistake

  • Looks to me like when he set it down next to the outrigger the soft soil gave way. Definitely should have rocked it and sat on crane mats.

  • awesome

  • by the way was the crane operator ok?

  • @CRUISEOBRIEN1 yeah hes ok.... i seen him down the local job centre the very next day!

  • @schwantz3434 thats right he was applying for a job as milkman.

  • guys is simple the man on the walkie talkie should have a aborted the lift when he seen the ground was sinking.

  • I am a certified mobile crane operator, this is an classic example of poor planing, way to small plates under the outriggers, they should have first checked the ground, and then they should have used rock-masses, and then used big steel plates under the outriggers, but its the operator who should discuss such things with the contractor and come up with the safest solution. he could have said NO

  • KA- BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM says the demoman

  • could have been worse i guess...

  • top parking boss

  • Just when you think you're on solid ground...

  • DAMN!

  • ohh oo

  • Murphy said thats against the law.

  • whoops

  • i hope nobody got hurt there...

  • They should have call for the PE(professional engineering) to inspect the gound condition and calculate how many kilo newton can it takes..

  • I think he was busy having sex with a goat in the cab and didnt realise it was going to tip he ejacalated just in time though dirty little fecker

  • Zena could have done it, you kiwi fruits.

  • Very impressive

  • let me tell you, when those support plates are going into the ground, you may wanna stop pulling, and just drop it. Small suggestion... lol

  • Operator should have said no to the lift. The packing was sub standard on all fronts. The operator should have dumped the lift at the first sign of trouble, who cares about the product people's safety is at risk. Now they're screwed on all fronts. Stupid kiwis, is there anything they CAN do APART from fuck up all the time? What a bunch of dumb-fuck morons.

  • @chargrilledcharlie

the crane was too far gone.. even if he dumped the load the weight of the boom itself is enough to cause the accident..pad failed once its gone its gone..no stooping it once you're that far out of level..not much you can do..happens way too fast for a person to react to stop it..

  • I bet an OSHA rep was filming this. He was either going to use it for A)How to setup a crane next to a riverbank, or B) How not to setup a crane next to a river bank. And who the hell told that poor man to stand next to the rig and watch the footing!

  • GOD DAMN IT!!!

  • im a certified crane operator and the first thing he should have known was the stability of the ground {the VERY first thing} he is setting up on especially on a river because the stability can deteriorate very rapidly..which is what happened..plus swinging over an out-rigger puts all the weight on that one outrigger..operator is responsible..should have denied the lift..i have.better safe then sorry

  • Oh dear!

  • @nighthawk006phoenix

haha.........great video!! thanks for recommending this.........do I know you?

  • @ZoracYTManager: No problem.

You probably have heard of me, ZoracYTManager. I uploaded three important videos about the first A320 Airbus crash at Habsheim, France on the 26th June, 1988. Sadly three people died but the good news is that 133 people survived.

Check out my channel some time and have a look at all the other interesting videos I've posted (474 to date).

  • @nighthawk006phoenix

yes I think I do remember you...........are you the user who had your channel deleted by youtube for breach of copyright?

btw that plane crash you are referring to was unmanned..........no injuries or fatalities I'm pleased to confirm.

------------->Zorac feels fresh and ready for battle following his near 2 month absence from youtube.

  • @ZoracYTManager: well someone forgot to do their ground test strength didn't they? No, you may be confusing me with Nighthawk006. He was a bit naughty uploading all those copyrighted videos.

  • lol... proud owner of a brand spanking new pair of brown undies!

  • thats why they sell crane matts u cheap muther fuckers see wht happens

  • Wow, ground under 3 of the 4 stands gave way and I bet that guy next to crane was glad he ran the right way or the crane would have made ground beef out of him dragging that section over him.

  • Putting one of the crane jack-stands on an area of ground that was only supposed to be used as fill-ground, was a really bad idea.

  • warum haben wir nicht auf ronny schäfer gehört

  • LOL stupid maori's

  • I have only one thing to say............THAT WAS SWEET!

  • camera man you suck

  • now thats what iam taking about

  • id be happy with that.

  • EPIC FAIL

  • Kiwi's LOL... Uh next time let have a little more finess.

  • za blisko stał jeszcze widać że skarpa świeżo usypana totalna amatorka szkoda mi tylko maszyny bo piękna była a taki debil w kilka sekund zniszczył

  • wma wma wma wmaaaaaarrrr

  • omg is the man okay in there help me

  • omg is the man okay in there

  • 1:00 - WHERE DO I GO? WHERE DO I GO?????

  • thats 1 bigass fishing rod

  • operator werent stupid he knew exactly what was about to happen thats why he turned so the cab was facing up

  • @rickm09

The operator could have said no before he lifted, and it is his responsibility. In addition, it was not the operator who turned the crane, it was the counterweight which forced the crane to turn. One can not blame others for the operator chooses to park his crane as close to a riverbank. Therefore, the fault easy to Place the ... 40 inches from the joystick.

  • @trodat5200 - Doubtful the placement of the crane was chosen by the operator. That would have been predetermined as part of an overall plan by the project managers.

  • @GeoffBlackmore - Regardless of where or how, it's the crane operator's responsibility that the job gets done safely. You can never put the blame to others, regardless of what he has told from the management. A crane operator can and must always speak out if it is not safe to lift. As a crane operator, I could see from the beginning what would happen. He should not have started lifting.

  • @trodat5200 I have been driving mobiles for over 30 years and i half agree...but these days in the uk hse is so tight ...ground loading is no longer the crane drivers responsibility (I override this when I feel the necessity...who's gonna argue lets face it )...but back in the day I always had a back up strategy....In this situation I would have put the slew pin in and shortened my radius rapid and dropped that bridge section in the river.....this would have been my plan before I started

  • @trodat5200 your an idiot. quite obviously the foremans fault. his the one who coordinates the setting up of cranes and all that shit. all the operator does is what his told, sure he can protest but if the foreman says continue, then his gotta go on.

  • @0salot If your comment is correct, ALL employees need to be empowered to refuse to perform an activity that they deem UNSAFE or have doubts about.

Just because he's the foreman doesn't give him the authority to OK a lift that will end with the crane in the river.

Unless the contract calls for the crane to end up in the river.

Not to mention the operator is the one that's hurt....NOT the foreman.

Pretty silly for the operator to lift if he had doubts.

  • overload

  • The very start of the job was the problem. someone got the ground loading very wrong and everyone looks at the driver. very easy to blame the jocky. tossers

  • Dump ass operator, so many fails in 1 minut.....

  • that was pretty scary watchin that ;)

  • he didnt put it down on the bridge because he is obviously a dumb fuk kiwi. We where always tought when i was first starting out that what you are lifting is never worth as much as the crane or a life. put it down anywhere and save lives. dumb fuk kiwis

  • Am I missing something? Why did he hot just put it down on the bridge.

  • DIOS MIO¡¡¡¡¡ LIBRAME DE UN ACCIDENTE DE ESTOS LO PEOR QUE PODRIA PASAR

  • pizdets

  • Didds79 he was a fuckin idiot and by the sound of it so are you

  • blatantly obvious if he maxed the lmi when he was jibbed up that far the other crane would have gone but it didnt he was letting the rope down but the ground was giving way quicker than it would come down this is because of the amount of ropes on his jib i reckon he had four fours on because of the wait load this equalls a slow up down motion on the rope this is why he couldnt deck it in time and yea the ground gave way its his quick reaction at letting the rope down that saved the other crane

  • The operator saved himslef by turning at the last moment.

  • @madmario34 operator had nothing to do with it, it was counterweight that turned crane to fall backward

  • they built up a shonky pad with subgrade fill minimal compaction up against a bank.looks like recent rain on rain has washed all the fines away through the fill.looks like another case of cost cutting that got you in the shit more.

  • I'm gonna take my bike to NZ and ride over this bridge, just so it was all for something.

  • bet that operator had some brown stuff running down his legs after that haha

  • ZOOM OUT YA PRICK

  • fuck :O

  • Stupid cunt . Drive some sheet piles in frout of the crane and use a crushed concrete pad under the crane i laughed my bollocks off when i saw this i bet the driver shit all over the cab

  • it;ll buff out

  • it will buff out !

  • Thank goodness the operator is alright.

  • oh shit wot happened

  • that was impossible for the operator to stop once it started as for the outriggers? way too close to the bank if the crane can scope out which any monkey knows that.. move back 20 feet off the bank pfft noobs

  • looks like the outriggers where way too close to the bank, thats something any dogman should know

  • Whoever did the grading on the lift pad really screwed the crane operator and his machine big time. Did anyone settle up with the crew that did the grading. They just backed up the dump truck and off loaded the wrong kind of fill and not even compacting it . Did the operator make it out alive?

  • It has nothing to do with the LMI. The load was next to the truck. The crane was as strong as it can get for that size crane. The ground gave way. The crane was to close to the soft edge!!!! Somebody should have researched the situation a lot more.

  • dont bypass the L.M.I next time..... If you didnt my bad but stability chart is hard to mess up..... even on bad ground.

  • @no1wrench Stick to the wrenches bud,its very clear the ground gave out under the crane. The only thing that was "bypassed" was the money for a proper pad to suit the machine.

  • Im not familliar with the load chart... but the opperetor was anything but smooth with the load.... Im no opperator but asa crane mechanic for 11 years I have seen this too many times.... shoulda brought a bigger rig and NOT bypassed the L.M.I.

  • kk

  • I cant understand why the crane wasn't abandoned as soon as the cracks appeared in the ground. If I were the driver I would of been out of there the moment it was spotted.
