@DylanMultiProduction When she plugs in for the pythagorean theorem: h^2 + 144 = 400, subtract 144 to get h^2 = 256, now you need to get just h (instead of h^2), so you need to take the square root of both h^2 and 256 to get h=16 (because the square root of 256 is 16). Hope I didn't just confuse you!

@chellooza Well 12 squared is 144 because 12 x 12 = 144. And 20 squared is 400 because 20 x 20 = 400. Did you lean Pythagorean Theorem yet?

The presentation is good but the only thing is that everything does not make any sense because there is no unit involved. It would have been better if unit is indicated in the example so that students will be guided on how to deal with the units in calculating the area.

I always assumed that the area of a triangle would just be half of the rectangle(or square) that it would make if a mirror image of itself were attached to it.

Shouldn't this triangle be: half of 20x24(240)?

Here's what I know:

The formula for a right angled triangle is Half-base (1/2) times lenth (X L).

For instance:

3cm on side

6cm another

7cm another with an right angle. What I do is half the bottom/top: in this case its 6cm.

so 3cm X 3cm (top left/top right) equals 9cm square.

Bit I can't figure out the normal triangle (Isosceles or Equal triangle). Just giving giving my way.
