  • i will be showing this horse this year and my mom is showing her daughter.

  • This was when she was young, and before she was shown under saddle. What are you showing her in this year?

  • i'm not sure yet prob ladies

  • Who is riding On Center Stage? Is that Sandy?

  • Peggy Alderman

  • Pretty hot mare, eh? LOL Beautiful!

  • i heard fire crackers

  • i dont get why she only rising sometimes :s ? like shell sit for 3 strides then rise again ?

  • maybee you people shouldnt try to give adivise to people who are world champion trainers cause obvioulsy you have no clue what your talking about.

  • Maybe the lady should quit trying to balance herself off of his face and he will go steadier because she is steadier. Up the stirrups a hole or two and dropping her weight into her seat would be good. Nice big horse.

  • I'm not one that believes in plates on horses feet. I kind of think that if they were meant to be that animated there wouldn't be any use for the plates. I have seen a lot more abuse and injuries to the horses feet that have plates vs the ones that don't have them.

  • hahaha... its slippery when they buck in a cutback saddle!

  • They do it so the horse is more animated and peppy, ears forward too. I do it some times

  • I could be wrong but I think Peggy's daugther rides this horse in equitation now.

  • Yes, it's her Eq horse now.

  • wow i know alot of people use that scaring the horse to pick up its feet more method but whats the point when u can always use your legs that method is for people that dont have enough time for their horse. i ride saddleseat and my horse picks up his feet with out is banging on stuff yippin at him or nething not trying to say its werong just trying to say use your legs b4 you bang on crapp... :/

  • Doesn't really have anything to do with making them pick up their feet higher....

  • Cool Horse!!! Thanks for sharing!

  • no i mean in the background, are they trying to make the horse get used to it?

  • Ah, well, the horse reacts to the noise making them more "hot" in a way, which helps them pick their feet up higher and wear the bridle well. Sort of gives an otherwise boring trip around the ring a little pazzaz for them.

  • Ohh. lol. I guess that makes sense.

  • why were the people makeing sooo much noise?

  • they do it so the horse will pick up pace better i think

  • How can you say that? Forcing a horse over a jump isn't artificial? Any horse that allows someone to ride it - race it - jump it - is being kind. Making rude comments like the above is unneccesary. As an equestrian and horse lover, I have alot of respect for any style of riding and/or horse breed.

  • I see , you are not used to ride and work with different breeds. I have a russian trotter (almoust the same as standardbred) and hes bombproof. An experienced rider is capable to calm down a horse in any sittuations..

  • Actually, it's not based on being "perched on" it's based on riding between your knee and your thigh, and if you can't hold on that way, you can't be a Saddleseat rider. Learn to ride Saddleseat and you will have no problem staying horseback in any other discipline. Saddleseat riders have no knee rolls, no deep saddles, nothing to hold us in place but our own thigh muscles. And the horses are not "kind." They're just like any other horse.

  • Exactly! We hold onto our horses with knee and thigh grip, nothing else. We have nothing to hold onto, no deep saddle, no knee rolls, and for someone who rides in a western saddle and never in a saddleseat saddle, there's a HUGE difference.

  • It's wrong to say that a breed of horses are easier to ride, because truthfully all horses - horseback riding in general - is all very difficult to ride. It depends on a the personality of the horses, and besides, in this video the horse obviously got spooked, just like any other horse would, and because the rider was just getting alittle relaxed, she didn't see it coming. Artsyhorse, at age 56, I'd like to see you try to stay on a bucking horse for as long as the trainer above did.

  • I agree. Any breed of horse can be difficult. I think the girl riding this horse did a great job staying on. Saddleseat saddles are a heck of a lot harder to stay in then a hunt or western saddle. That leap and jump she did would have offset anyone.

  • yah they are much much much kinder. i'm just saying they are definately difficult to ride.

  • artsyhorse.. i can personally say.. i have ridden all disciplines and saddlebreds and morgans are much harder than thoroubreds.. but saddlebreds do not hate their life like many thoroughbreds

  • Funny you say that because "this" woman is one of the best riders/trainers in the industry. Has trained and shown more wolrd champions than any other woman i know.

  • who is she!!!

  • What am I seeing on her fetlocks?

  • We wrap the lower leg in training to prevent the horse from hurting themselves or if they overstep behind it prevents the hoof from digging into the front leg. When the horses are in the show arena, they have nothing on their legs.

  • I know bell boots protect from over-step and striking, and splint boots/brush boots are used to protect the lower leg tendons from stress and dings when jumping: but it looks like this mare has something puffy strapped to her fetlocks and hooves, and if I were to se ethis in my arena, I'd assume it was to create more action/drama in the movement.

  • OH, I think that she might have had "stretchies" on while they were warming her up, but they took them off, or they broke off during the training session with her. Maybe that's what your are seeing is the fleece straps that go around the front hooves? Other than that, I dunno...

  • I know the horse doesn't have chains on, because I don't hear them...so it can't be that, then again, my trainer never really used chains, only a light leather strap on the hind end hooves, if needed.

  • is this a saddlebred or morgan?

  • She's a Morgan

  • oh well, i'm not usually a huge fan of morgans, but i love that morgan! nice job.

  • The trend in "High End" Morgans has gone toward the Saddlebred look and less the morgan look. Most really nice morgans now are much much bigger, have longer, thinner necks, and move more like Saddlebreds. However, there are Morganers who hate the fact that the industry is going toward the saddlebred look. I LUV the Saddlebred look on Morgans. But, my next horse purchase will be a Saddlebred.

  • Wow, that is amazing. I like the Morgan/Saddlebred look. I am glad that ya'll are turning toward it. And I am glad that you are going to purchase a saddlebred. they are simimlar to morgans, but i think they just having that little something extra, especially in the show ring. Our barn has a saddlebred 5 yr. old for sale. Do you want info?

  • what do you mean by park horse?

  • What was up with the bucking?

  • I think she was just full of it and needed a good jump and buck! :-)
