  • Terrific

It is the moose head coming down the stairs that got me !

I remember the show all those years ago. Thanks for posting

  • How halarious i love how judy garland folded her hands when there was no table in front of her shes so funny lol!!!!!!!

  • What an entertainer! Judy reduces me to tears with her singing and yet she can be so funny too! There was no one and there will never be another like her.

  • She's so beautiful. :)

  • listen to judy sing the battle hymn of the republic on the judy garland show amazing she did this song for jfk

  • I kinda wish I was around in this time period seems nice

  • @lily3dbj I was 8 back then & it was indeed a nice time. The economy had been mostly wonderful for 17 years & no one yet knew how bad Vietnam would be. We'd just put the first men in space & knew we would soon go to the moon. We thought & KNEW we could do almost anything! Phys Ed was just being introduced in elementary schools, & entertainers were ladies & gentlemen and showed their respect for us by behaving & dressing as such. I've made playlists for every yr since 1900 to relive those times.

  • Haha! Well, a lot of smoke did get in her eyes, but she was whisked off her feet before she started burning. :)

  • What d hell lol

  • This is a difficult song to sing but well worth the effort when mastered. Check out my studio-recorded version on my channel.

  • I love these videos! Muchas gracias for posting them!

  • Judy was the greatest entertainer that ever lived.

  • Is this from the Milton Burl show? He was a moron.

  • It's like like I'm watching the first episode of SNL ever.

  • @DimensionsofChange hey whadya mean

  • @ConfusedSponge It's funny at first, but the same joke gets dragged out for 4 minutes.

  • hahahaah, I love this.

  • Hilarious!

in the tradition of the great Ernie Kovacs.

  • theres is only one JUDY

  • LMAO at 3:09

  • And the star sings on . . . now that's integrity of dedication !

  • LOL Ahhh Judy who knew! LOL

  • @paintballme2 Judy hated this song but it was so popular that they did it anyway and the only way she'd do it was to make a joke of it, it is a good laugh. Notice the tin man and lion they take out, ha!

  • HAHAHAHA This is so not what I was expecting... This is even better!!! 100%, fully saturated entertainment. BRAVI!

  • this song is by the platters!

  • @21pyroburn well, actually first used as a instrumental song in a Fred Astaire an Ginger Rogers movie, Roberta, look fot that,s the original version. ;-)

  • Oh my gosh, this is FANTASTIC! I've never seen this one before! Thank you so much for posting! Brilliant humor was in between the 40s and 60s! There's no more humor anymore! So glad we have this to keep us going! I LOVE YOU JUDY!

  • Love this song. I'm looking for this song sung by Liz Taylor (somewhere in the 1940s/1950s in a movie) can anybody upload it?

  • What the hell just happened o_O

  • Just brilliant!

  • That wit! that professionalism! how beautiful and funny, my dear Judy Garland you were a case of cuteness, thank you very much for the laughs, tears, for the beautiful moments that divinity Alone!

  • Oh that's brilliant!!!! I love Judy Garland, She would have still been amazing today if she was around. I can't stop laughing while watching this!

  • ROFL!!!!

  • Love how they pull her out LAST. lol Quick, save the furniture! Oh yeah, don't forget Judy!

  • I love her sense of comedy!! Jusdy is Fabulous!

  • Yay! I found it again!! =D This had me rolling for hours. Amazing, funny, so talented!

  • This is so funny!

  • Wonderful version of great song

    Thanks Judie for sharing

  • what the fuck?? i wasn't expecting all that. LOL i thought it was some photoshop wackiness

  • 15 people have smoke in their eyes (& ears)

  • LOL! when I saw the smoke coming down the stairs, my first thought was "fire!" but then I thought, "no, maybe they're just gonna coat the floor with smoke, to add to the performance. why the stairs? shouldn't it be flooding in from behind her?" then the firemen are chopping down the door, & Judy's still singing, then I got the comedy. I love her so much, thanks for posting!!

  • the building on fire judy

    rob

  • I adore her at 1:41 i laughed because she flinched! =P

  • FOOD!!!!!!!

  • this is my favorite song that she sings

  • aww love and miss you judy garland >.<

  • My God how refreshing to hear and see Judy. I bought a dvd the other day of many of her preformences and her Biography. very emotional and moving life story. you should get it.God gave her to us to enjoy forever. ..

  • Focus and control. Judy has great control of her voice. American Idol contestants should take note, their concept of classic is Mariah Carey. Judy was way before my time... I was listening to her and at the same time Iggy Pop and The Velvet Underground. The kids today do not understand live performance since most "live performance" today are altered by Protools.

  • This is a beautifull song, sung by the most beautiful person in the world. Love you Judy.

  • Not her best.

  • @lostinthought179 it was meant to be comedic. of course it's not gonna be her best, it wasn't supposed to be. its still Judy Garland, it's still exquisite talent.

  • OMG that was fantastic! I`ve never seen her shows before maybe just a couple of clips. The humour in that was so unexpected, I thought, oh this is nice I love this song and Judy then suddenly the fire brigade show up!! Brilliance!!!:)

  • Never saw that! So damn funny. Only Judy.

  • I don't remember if it was Judy's idea to do this-- but we had great fun with it... I was there for the taping..... wish younger performers would watch her gesture and facial expressions....a total acting lesson in one song.

  • People say what a great actress she WAS...but I'm sure she is still entertaining people in heaven.

  • This is just the type of routine that variety tv was ALL about....love it!

  • Simply classic, period.

  • That was hilarious, good effort! Cheers for the upload. ;D

  • Great. The house she grew up in at Grand Rapids, Minn. is restored and now across the street from a Home Depot...It should be No Place like Home Depot. I'd like to think she'd get a kick out of that.

  • grown men wept when Judy sang...........and I understand why......

  • when i saw the smoke coming down the staircase i thought the set had caught on fire

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT JUDY GARLAND!

  • She is truly a legend, her voice makes me shiver,oh ,i love her so much!

  • Judy didn't like this song-- for good reason-- and so it was parodied. As outrageously funny as Judy was, they rarely knew how to showcase her comedic talent.

  • franksfan Love her, there'll never be another. She's the No 1 female singer EVER

  • This setting and performance are very MGM movie scene-ish! Beautiful. I wish Judy'd been together enough to have had one mmore classy, sophisticated, well-produced movie musical in the '60s to her credit.. I always thought she would've been GREAT in the movie Gypsy!

  • One minute you in tears with emotion, and then your like huh? what and then hahahahahahahaha and then its the emotion and tears and the laughing and then your crying just admiring this incredible woman, and distraught she's gone, you just cry as you read all the emotions through her singing and expressions, and as the tears stroll down your face, you begin to laugh again when she's so humorously carried away in the arms of a fireman..... beauty, feeling and class xxx

  • Of course, they take all the furniture out, AND THEN the person. This is so funny, and judy is amazing too, in everything shes amazing :-)

  • Judy was so cute! She was already two years dead when I came on this planet, but Judy is timeless, I love her very much...she is really a legend.

  • Such an amazing performer! Few others could convey such emotion in a song. To be so funny and such a talented actress on top of it just floors me. It's sad that she was another victim of the Hollywood machine. But a talent like that is never forgotten. Love you Judy!

  • I have never seen this performance. When I first saw the smoke, I thought it was for a romantic effect and I thought, "Oh, why didn't they just let her sing it without that much shmaltz. But then when I saw the whole bit I fell in love with Judy all over again. She was simply a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon.

  • Precious!

  • She "was" Just Brilliant !!!!! Genius !!!!

  • She is my favourite actresses of all time, when you ask people who Judy Garland is they say Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, people wouldn't think she was such a great commedian as well as an actress and singer she's so natural at all them things. She is a legend.

  • @gingwell10 they were considering shirley temple for the role but imagine shirley temple singing over the rainbow.

  • Judy.

    Judy, Judy.

  • LOL :D ... Judy was a wonderful singer, actress and comedian ... this proves it once more.

  • Beautiful voice and funny skit :p

  • funny performance

    XD

  • great!! I cracked down to the ground because I had to laugh so hard as I watched the end!!!

this kind of entertaining you never will find again in our times. And I'm telling you this with my young twenty two years... so sad!

  • i love how the last thing they take out

    is the PERSON

    LOL

  • g.morandi is the best for "smoke gets in your eyes"

  • Sheer class--- and funny!

  • Terrific! Pre-Python Python humor. She's just fabulous.

  • This is real entertainment!

This television show has more years than I know, and still has better quality than most of today's shows. I loved it!!!! Judy was a natural treasure! She is immortal. They should show all those oldies tv gems, so we could see that tv doesn't have to be bad all the time. Loved it!!!!

  • So funny . . . Judy's the best!

  • THAT was soooooooooo funny,, I wasnt expecting that....

  • Kisses!

  • Wicked funny!

  • HAHAHAHAHH awesome!!!

  • This was soooo cute!

  • I'll never be able to listen to this again without thinking of this video! Wonderful!! The show should have lasted longer!

  • hah so funny

  • I love Judy! What a great performer she was...

  • That's so cool! :D

  • this is sooooooooooo funny!!!

  • MERAVIGLIOSA

  • przypomina mi to wydanie Wiadomości z Jolanta Pieńkowską, gdy strażacy gasili pożar w studiu za jej plecami xD

  • From The Wizard of OZ till the day she tragically died she was a legend. Yes, her voice changed over the years but as a singer she is still unsurpassed. Such power as a mesosaprono. Love always!

  • She was a legend since she sang her first song!

  • HOW she was able to do this while keeping a straight face is unknown to me. What talent. :D I was giggling the whole time I was watching this.

  • lol looter firefighters haha

  • her voice sounded old, ya know?? her voice always had a mature sound to it that i could never get use to. sorry, just my opinion.

  • unfortunately that was because of the drugs she took throughout her life, and how nonstop she worked etc.. it all made her look and sound about 15/20 years older than she was. shame really. her voice sounded best (in my opinion) around Meet Me in St. Louis days i.e. early 20s.

  • Yep, the thing about drugs and looking older, and dying younger is true for lots of (not only Jazz) artists during those times

  • I was just getting into it and appreciating Judy's unique rendition - acting marvelously, when the smoke started to waft its way downstairs, followed by the firemen at the door. What a sense of humour. What a trouper.

  • Comment removed

  • Unexpected, Brilliant, and her voice is Marvelous.

  • Que bolas, hechar a perder semejante actuacion con una cuerda de estupidos...

  • Well, that was unexpected.

It's a shame that her voice isn't in top condition here :(

  • Judy did a really nice job on this song, even though it was out of her element.

  • Oh Shit... lol...

  • Really painful to see such a great artist in a gag like that ! A real shame !

  • Sorry, the gag is nice but the singing is very painful. She was not anymore in a good shape, I know her problems, but still the show is the show and it's not easy to enjoy this performance, vocally speaking. The voice is sadly broken... What a pity, she was wonderful

  • not good

  • FANTASTIC

  • 1964 was the year.

  • What year was this? It's wonderful :)

  • the woman could belch out the alphabet and still have more of an impact than any of the singers we have today.

  • wait isnt her daughter liza minelli?

  • yes, she is.

  • of course

  • The Platters were hardly ORIGINAL when the song was sung by Irene Dunne in Roberta in 1936, and on Broadway before that.

  • they evacuated her furnitures before evacuating her.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAA FUNNY!!!

  • I actually remember this . . . enjoyed it then and appreciate it now . . . thank you.

  • Love it that was hilarious! the end was awesome when she was carried and she still sang I rolf'd

  • Judy sound fabulous and I love those old corny skits like the Carol Burnett show......ty, John for sending

  • brilliant!

  • Hilarious! Great combination of talents - singing and acting! Thanks for posting!

  • So funny! One of my faves from Judy's TV series...thanks Loretta for sending! :)

  • Yes, this is one I have not seen, at least not recently. Very cute.

    -------Ellen

  • I stand corrected, it's not the hacking, it's the fire extinguisher that results in the "WTF?" face I was talking about haha. Thanks for reminding me of this vid!

  • Judy had a sense of humor, didn't she!?

  • Lol, that was excellent. I didn't expect to see that at all. Judy did have a sense of humour and that is overshadowed by the sadness in her life. Thanks for uploading,

  • She is Just Amazing. Much love Judy Garland. Awesome. Lovely

  • lol

  • She is wonderful!!!

  • HOLY SMOKES! THAT WAS HILARIOUS.

    (pun intended)

  • Very funny! :)

  • she could laugh at herself...yet, she sang beautifully

  • lol 2:00

  • Maybe it's just me, but what are those 'clowns' doing there - In a scene with Judy Garland?

I hope this made the producer enough money to get buried in!

  • you obviously dont get the joke.

  • bwahaha! omg! this was so amazing. beautifully tragic and so funny, just like judy. love her!

    ~lAUra

  • At 2:00 Judy gets scared. :)

    sooo cute!

  • BRILLIANT!!

  • did anyone notice the wizard of oz cutouts the firemen carried out?

  • Only someone who has seen real pain could do this number! Hope deferred makes the heart sick. Cynicism is one way of handling a deep heartache. Thank God for real love.

  • sooo funny!!!! hahahaha :D

  • Awesome clip. Showcases her voice and talent for comedy.

  • This was my Mother's favorite song (and she also liked a laugh).

  • She was a really good comedienne and was able to not take herself too seriously in spite of her problems. She died 40 years ago today. Peace, dear Judy!

  • wht the heck!!!!!!

  • lmao I wasnt expecting the axe through the door

  • Well, least back in these days they tried to get the furniture and stuff out and save em .. I had a fire in my apt last year and they threw all out the window..

  • Rofl!!!! That was hilarious!!! She was a true genius!

  • Hilarious! She was a class act.

  • whyyy?

  • Because he has no taste.

  • With all the comments this past month over Judy's tragic life, very few people seem to have noticed her set was 'on fire'. This is one of the most hilarious sketches I've ever seen!!!! And for Judy to maintain her composure singinging a dramatic song through a comedy sketch, you just gotta say WoW ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

  • Very funny. A lovely gentle sendup.

  • it is a pitty she died so young she was like 50 or somethin

  • Damn, the merit of a human being is not determined by how well they are able to asthetically gratify you. No wonder so many famous people tend to go down hill so drastically after they cease being young.

  • I love this song. The video is both poignant and funny.

  • oh my, judy. this rips my heart out.

  • What an actress! Beautiful voice! How deep is her heart, I will always love her too!

    :-)

  • Yes she is known as only being at the maximum age of 47 and under because she only lived that long. But she should have looked after herself and lived to old age.I understand that she had some sort of issues stemming from her childhood with her mother and the MGM men who started her on those addictive pills.

    Enough.

  • Some people just have an addictive personality - no one is to blame - to use another quote "life sucks and then you die."

  • lol garland is such a trouper

  • This sketch proves that her great artistry could be juxtaposed with her outrageous sense of humor. I watched her show in the 60's but missed this episode. It is such a treat to discover something new and out of the ordinary. Thanks to JessyFriend.

  • haha i love the smoke on the steps

  • lollllll

  • Anyone who really knew Judy Garland described her as funny, with a great sense of humor. ...
