  • I wonder if Angus Young learned his vibrato technique from this guy?

I'm ashamed to say that I only heard this song for the first time tonight.

It won't be the last I know that. When the sun comes up my amp is lighting up!

  • @TheNonautomatoN Nobody had or has the vibrato that Koss got!

  • @jackHNv I have to agree!

  • been my favorite song for the past 30 yrs still get goosebumps every time i hear it

  • plant and rodgers may just be the two greatest rock voices ever, although freddie mercury is tough competition

  • Despite all the comments about white bands who stole this riff, this was done by Albert King a long time ago.

  • hmm the opening riff sounds like hole in the sky by black sabbath

  • @zdwaffles agree - though it should be the other way around, as hole in the sky was released later :) but yeah, both are really good songs! sabbath is my favorite band :)

  • How many more times is still better but this is sick!

  • looking for this version forever

  • This is an Albert King song

  • @kharmabum ..aye,yer no wrong...no-one did it like these fella's tho..many have tried.

  • who doesn"t disagree, free were best listened to live, especially in sunderland where they are worshipped still.the hunter and mr big were their encores and they always brought the house down.still no better songs to sing than theirs, simple lyrics but what impact !!!!

  • free's anthem...superb! ...rip koss.

  • 0 dislikes? i wonder why... =)

  • Could someone post the original (Albert King - The Hunter [1967])

  • this was sung at the end of "how many more times" on zeppelin ii. which was in 1969. who did this originally?

  • @hteverow Albert King - The Hunter

  • Paul Rodgers singing mixed with Paul Kossoff's playing is a match like no other!

  • free live album

  • There's one word I can say about Paul Kossoff's playing, "VIBRATO"

  • bet they got alotta pussy after playin this one

  • I have found the BEST kossoff soundalike I have followed Free since they started and this japanese guy is the ONLY man to sound like the great little man type in tonsofsobsnaomi and be ready to hear the best version of the hunter since Free themselves

  • Just heard that band. Sounds awesome. Thanx for the tip man.

  • Another good man to look out for ......type in goldtop68 and just listen!!!!!!! happy listening

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!!!!!!!!

  • Kossoff had probably the finest vibrato technique ever. And he pulled the best faces ;-)

  • damn right brother! Koss was a one and only. Never has there been someone like him and there never will be again. I'm just glad I found his music.

  • @CoC350 Absolutely!! maybe not the speed merchant of the guitar styles of later years but My God he could play the blues, and make the Free sound so full and warm.

Few guitarists if any had his 'feel' for the music. One of a kind was Paul...sadly missed

  • this is a better song than Alright Now !

  • I agree :)

  • @jonmorr777

I dig Blue Cheer's version also.

  • @jonmorr777 Most of their songs were!

  • Just great!

  • god bless the seventies

  • MrPrimemover1 said it all for me! :D

Thanks for sharing the vid with us Zedice!!!

    Love it!

  • No problem. I can upload more Free songs that I have, if you want. Just give me a message on my channel :)

  • @MrPrimemover1 This is from 1968 dude.

  • Jason Bonham official; has posted a vid of this track with Paul Rodgers live from

Germany. As near as you'll get to finding

a vid of Free doing this tune.

  • The Voice! And he still sounds amazing live, 40 years later!

  • Paul Kossoff was OMG!!!

  • DANZIG did a cover of this

  • This is a raunchy version of a Booker T and the M G's song, obviously arranged perfectly for FREE !!!!!

  • its a albert king song, get your blues right bro

  • Albert King played for STAX records BRO!!! the house band was Booker T and The MG's. They toured with him recorded etc. and this is really there song, Sorry my Blues is in order. And actually as great as Albert is, He didnt wright much of his big hits.

  • I met Albert and Booker T on their 71 Stax tour, Albert recorded a lot of covers , but that's to his credit, all his albums have memorable tracks, that's why there are so many Albert covers out there, Born Under A BAd Sign, I'll Play the Blues For You, etc....

  • i`m with wolfatnight all the way, saw free 3 times early 70s nothing comes close, koss still makes my hair stand up now with his solos, greatest band ever

  • I remember first hearing the Free Live "Air Mail" cover vinyl LP, (from which this track came) and being blown away by the quality!! Great Posting!

  • Good

  • THATS ROCK, bitches - no one touches FREE, not Zeppelin, no one - no one does it better - I'll take em over anyone, and FUCK you if you dont like it - that is all - thank you

  • I think this is a Blue cheer cover.

  • when was this recorded?

  • hmm they played it 1970 but it came out as on an album in 1971's

    it's a live album btw

  • Comment removed

  • Recorded live in 1970 at the Locarno in Sunderland.

  • It's ironic that nowadays we'd have a video of a band playing, but all the best stuff was played 30 years ago IMO. I hate that there's so little footage of Free, and nothing of them playing The Hunter. I'd loved to see Koss's face playing this solo. CLASSIC! Thanks, it made my day...

  • I agree not head this track for nearly 30 years - def the best version, sounds as good as it did 30 years ago! thanks for posting it

  • No problems, hope they wont take it away like they did with my other movies :(

  • jimmy hall , other good version

  • I've been waiting for someone to post this ever since YouTube first started. Apart from All Right Now this is their best.

  • I luuurv it <3 Kossof is great!

  • best version by far.... kosseff is briliant

  • I agree, my favourite version too! Kossoff is really good :D
