Hearing DLR's voice here I only wish he was in the band during the 90's before it got strained from old age. He still sounds good today, but VH would have made better albums than Balance, III and FUCK if DLR was fronting the band then.
VH had the right front man from the very beginning. I think in the band they had a hard time dealing with the Diamond Dave persona offstage. It had to be fatiguing, but then again it's rock n roll! I'm just glad he's back where he belongs.
@fortheloveoftunes I hear ya there! Grunge was fine when it started but i got sick of it after awhile. Besides that there was too much dance music. Looking back at that decade the 90's was a ripoff of the 70's!
There are a multitude of ways to describe why Van Halen's legacy will always lie with David Lee Roth but after watching this video (again) it just reminded me of one simple fact, David Lee Roth is the epitome of what a great frontman is. The van hagar fans will never get it. And just in case your keeping score Eat Em & Smile owns 5150. Period.
@compworld1 Dave was better solo after he left VH and VH was better with Sammy. Instead of one great band, we got two...why, why, WHY does it have to ALWAYS be Dave vs Sammy. I like both. Im happy theyre all making music no matter what band theyre all in or not in, just appreciate the music and stop encouraging all the stupid hate going on, because that's not what real music is about. It's meant to inspire, not demean or disparage. Sam vs Dave is as stupid as east coast hip hop vs west coast.
@compworld1 So what you're saying is Eddie, Alex and Mike/Wolf can't do it without Dave? Well, I don't know what you are listening to but all of Sammy's VH albums went to # 1, none of Dave's VH did.
@MrVHWolf : When I first heard chickenfoot, I thought it was a clone of 5150 . Then I found found out it WAS ; so I'll stick to my VH and DLR, thanks .

This may be one of my least favorites from the album. Just never liked this tune. I like others from YFLM, but thus isn't one of them.

Holy shit! This is a smokin' track! 0:16 to 0:19 had me hooked. It'd would be great if the new Van Halen record sounds anything close to this.
