Taekwondo, is a korean martial art, born right after WW2. The origins are from various ancient korean martial arts and karate. This because the man that made TKD the way is famous today, trained in Japan, were Karate was the country martial art. When back to korea he combined ancient korean martial art and refined japanese karate which was lacking in many technics. Applied science from newton's law. TKD techniques are much more efficient and people should do more research. its not only kicks!
Sorry for being critical guys but not really the best demonstration for these techniques. You were both on a soft floor surface so you could have gone a little harder on the techniques. Not full contact but just enough to show how effective you can be.
But these guys know what they're doing with the right movements.
Hmmm.. When I was taking Taekwondo, my instructor only focused on training people for sports competitions, and we never did any submissions like this. :/
I just got to first dan, and never did anything like this, neither did other higher ranked students.
It was still kind of fun, and a decent workout.
I also did Commando Krav Maga with him, and wasn't disappointed at all.
Despite the creator of CKM being a possible fraud, many things taught in it are practical, and that's what matters. :)
This is by far the most practical TKD self defense I've seen on Youtube. Others teach you to block the punch /kick and then combo with fancy kicks. In a real situation, you will not be able to kick fast enough as your opponent would have already recovered from his initial attack.
That was cool! I wish the Taekwondo class I used to go to taught stuff like that, but unfortunately it was mainly ineffective blocks and punches, with a few usedful kicks thrown in. Aren't many of these techniques from Judo and Aikido? The only criticism I will make is that an attacker is far more likely to go with the jab-hook combo at 0:40 than anything else. Please don't take this as being disrespectful, but Taekwondo guys punch as effectively as Boxers kick.
i think like you said jessbisme hapkido and taekwondo its very close and similer you can see that in this moves if you do taekwondo with hapkido i think that will be great and more expires
can anyone tell me what kind of tkd this is? I've been in Ji Do Kwan for the last 14 years and haven't seen most of these. are they of his own creation? I've had to create several of my own in the past.
@Carafael7 Tae kwon do also teaches you some grappling but trust me in a real fight, ur not gonna gonna have time to think to throw ppl on the ground. If I were you I just roll with punching and kicking
@GenghisKhanization There's more attention to sparring in WTF Taekwondo, where as ITF and GTF have also have alot of attention for sparring and self defense.
@GenghisKhanization dont really no haha lol i just joined too and when u get in, dont be jealous of the black belts and the lil kids higher then u just telling u and strech is important :D hope i help oh and itf is Internation TaekwonDo federation and, wtf is World TaekwonDo federation haha lol
Do you think you could go slowly for those of us that don't live in your exact area and don't have the ability to train those techniques from a school and would like to LEARN them? Maybe even break them each down, one by one?? It really would mean a lot to me. And yes I do taekwondo, just family trained not school trained. And the schools here don't have this.
@JessBisme Taekwondo and Hapkido are very similar, both based off of the taekkyon system. The difference is that Taekwondo is primarily striking. From what I hear, Hapkido strives for balance, but has a bit more grappling than striking.
The founder of Taekwondo said, Taekwondo was born from Shotokan-ryu Karate after WW2. The founder of Hapkido said, Hapkido was born from Daito-ryu Aiki Jujutsu after WW2. A Korean researcher said Tekkyon was a kicking game only for a play.
Pretty cool ... but only if once person is attacking you ... these dont work too well if you tried to defend against 3 or 4 people , unless your Really good ;_;
These techniques are pretty cool. The only thing is, if the opponent tenses his/her arm up, it would be difficult to get to bending the wrist on a lot of the wrist manipulation techniques. If anyone can bring my attention to why those specific techniques would work regardless, I would appreciate it.
I've spent a lot of time in both Tae Kwon Do and Aikido and hold black belts in both. The arm and wrist locks you're talking about are part of my Aikido training. There are a couple of answers I've found. 1st, attackers tend not to be skilled and don't realize what's happening until it's too late. 2nd, even with skilled attackers, the atemi is what really makes these moves work. When you draw their attention away from the lock by, say, kicking the knee, the arm loosens enough to break it.
yeh if i try restraints on my mate an he tenses up it never seems to go, so would you say this is something you can only aply properly on someone if you have actually hit them in a situation or if they dont know whats coming?
the reason that these techniques work is number one because the attacker in the video is letting the defender do the particular move. In real life these techniques would be very fast and would break bones. if the attacker does tense the arm it would be difficult to manipulate, but apply your body to the technique and the bone will snap. Also by putting the attacker off balance helps tempestuously with these techniques and is what makes these techniques work.
There are some moves, every "normal" TKDoka uses, but generally you can use EVERTHING that works in self-defense. You can use Aikido, Hapkidao, Wrestling ^^, Ballet etc. In self-defense you are not limited by anything :D
use a gun men kill that guy whi hurting you lol ...

@ericrules95 Well the point is to repetitively practice so that it becomes natural instinct.
FOBse7en 10 months ago
@Carafael7 you will not learn the hand to hand in the beginning, prolly around red-belt.
but the way we practice is a little different than how you would use in a real situation, so you must think of how you will adapt it.
ajwall1 1 year ago
@Carafael7 Every taekwondo dojang is different. you could ask your trainer to teach you more grapplings.

when there are 3 or 4 people, you dont make that techniques in taekwondo.
you acually learn how to bring down your enemy as fast as you can.
what these guys do is controlling the attacker and then bring him down. you learn too how to bring down your enemy as fast as its possible.
like with a kick at the right part of the body or something. i made it 8 years xD
the stuff that these guys do is really nice :D
