  • LOL..;-)

  • what a pillock! you've breached data protection act and NMC rules on confidentiality. i do hope you are not a real midwife. where is the sensitivity? you're a bad comedian/joker, so stop rubbishing our (real midwives) profession and making it harder for the few men we have. YOU IDIOT!

  • Yeah some people can be jealous. Price you have to pay for success. I try and rise above it. . Hope you get some views for your channel one day. Oh and maybe a TV contract too like me.

  • dont you have anything else better to do with your time? i did a google search on becoming a midwife because i am a nurse in the u.s. and considering becoming one. you just are not funny. leave the jokes to comedy central. and keep your day job.

  • Whats the point of this??? You can tell its not real, straight off the mark he starts giving out details of patients which is a biiiiig no no the NMC would have your registration quicker than you could post it on youtube! Its not funny and mentions baby loss. I dont get it. Whats the point?

  • I am sorry this video is disgusting. It is degrading to both women and male midwives. In attempt to be funny he has failed dramatically. I hope also he realises it is against the law to impersonate a Registered Midwife, should he ever wish to take his foul behaviour outside of the youtube arena.

  • how is it degrading or anything? Its not saying anything about midwives.

this particular midwife just acts this way.

just like any sitcom or anything. like if a policeman acts stupid in a film, its not sterotyping all police as being that way.

  • Well said young Zafarcake. Rest assureed I would never say anhthging bad about the police though, having worked closely with them when I was on the ambulances as a a paramedic. Mike

  • As a female midwife in the US, I found this interesting. I have nothing against male midwives, but have only met one (a student). It had occurred to me the problems a male midwife might have between work and home in the same way an OB/GYN might, but I never really thought on it.

  • Is this guy for real?

  • Very funny !

Iwould like to see a follow up on how you help women to breastfeed.

  • Hey, I'm an adult carer going through my NVQs, and have heard that after an NVQ level three I can go on to train as a midwife. Is this true? And how is the pay, the workload, etc etc?

  • The sound of women in pain excites me.

  • i would like to became a midwife and seriously ,come on, he's a professional there's no difference's between a man or a woman in midwifery, or gynecology.... plus i've heard men are more carefull because they don't really know women's pain... so they try to be the more soft they are able to be as practician

    sorry for my poor english

  • Don't listen to those hater Mike, you are doing a great job

  • male midwives are great..but you are a very poor representation, and some of the comments you made in the video were extremeley unprofessional.

are you really a registered and practicing midwife..or is this a non-amusing joke? you regard some peoples' comments as offensive to you, but you are clearly offending the women and their families in our care and undermining the midwifery profession as a whole...how sad!

  • Oh dear as a student midwife I must admit your comments are not very professional are they.

  • you are brave

  • heddersfin

u are patheic, of course male midwifes exsist thats the most patheic comment ive heard in the midwifery industry

grow up & leave the poor man alone, ok maybe u did go abit to far about the welsh girl :L

    BUT

ur doing a great job & im training to be a midwife when i leave school : )

    x alicia x

  • This might be good fun for some but I hope that no pregnant woman is concerned by this unprofessional portrayal of a midwife. This man is a comedian not a registered midwife.

  • Oh dear, someone's got out of bed on the wrong side! I'm glad to here that your sister is making something of herself though.

  • if that was me i would kick up in the nuts punch you in the face and the drown you in the birthing and then call my sister whos a trainie midwife

  • This man is NOT a midwife. Male midwives DO exist, and this prat is making a mockery of them and continuing to reinforce the poor public image of the male midwife.

He THINKS he is a comedian. He's not. Nobody round here laughing.

This is a great big pile of steaming horse shit.

  • Well there's no need to be offensive ms heddersfin.

  • @heddersfin i thought he was funny..hater....

  • PhoebeDoll - Does this mean since only women can give birth and therefore should only be attended by women mean that all staff working on an oncology ward have a clinical diagnosis of cancer?? I've been a MALE GYNAECOLOGY nurse and plan to move into Midwifery and I seriously hope never to run into a bigoted individual like yourself, sad thing is I will. Mike keep it up, like you say, they just don't like us taking a male approach, i.e. getting the job done right!!

  • from a fellow midwife, like the stethoscope!! very naff

  • arrrggghhhh. What a job.

  • Go for it mike.

  • Okay, the "Five O'clock Shadow" comment literally made me laugh out loud!!! That was pretty funny. HOWEVER, during this whole video you seemed a wee bit obsessed with the "lap dance girl" and if I were you wife I'd feel a little upset!

BTW, where I'm from almost all of us have "not a whisker" anymore, lol, its normal to shave everything!

  • I love this video. My mate is a male midwife. Not quite like this guy though. This guy acts like he'd be happier working on a building site. Makes me laugh though.

  • There is no way you should comment on the state of someones pubic hair if you are a midwife. COME ON! This guy is so unprofessional.

  • You might think that and you are entitled to your opinion. But it does affect your day to day working environment. Yeah the PC army might have a problem with me talking about it - but I'm not one to beat about the bush. No pun intended.

  • ooo i carnt wait to go uni and do midwifery hope i get on it and get my gcse resits decent enough hehe carnt wait!X

  • The sad thing about this video Mike is that I went into it expecting to like you. However, with your rude comments and disrespectful attitude towards the women you are supposed to be supporting I really think this is a comedy skit. So thanks for the laugh and I am so glad your not a real midwife..but stick to the comedy though..you will go a long way.

  • man.... the crap that gets posted!

  • "Comedian"

Says a lot I guess....this showcase didnt really gave me a feeling of "Wow, this is a real male midwife" ..hardly believable

  • Well if I wasn't so thick skinned (from years on the ambulances) I could get upset by that! I've had a lot of trainee midwives saying how nice it is to have a male role model. As for respecting clients....thats just you getting hot headed. Both Janet and Cerys (the lap dancer) had no problems with us filming so I can't see what the fuss is about. Still I suppose we have different ideas on different sides of the world. We may have to just agree to disagree. Mike

  • What is all that bunk about organic food and big babies? I thought midwives were about helping women give birth and empowering them, even wiht big babies. I hope this is a joke. That's disgusting about the relative hariness of women, and completely unprofessional.

  • Re: "relative hairiness of women": I'm sure all midwives have thought the same, although perhaps have not voiced their opinion in public. I think proper maintenance of the area would benefit both parties, providing a pleasant working environment for the midwife and reduce any unnecessary embarrassment for the patient.

  • who cares what the midwife thinks? Is it the midwife's birth??? NOOOO. It's like saying to a chef that the hot oven could be hotter.

This is society's sick obsession with women's genital areas as if shaving is inherently better. It isn't. It's a personal preference, and I don't care if someone shaves, but it's go nothing to do with the birth attendant and totally inappropriate to comment on it.

  • you hope this is a joke???? come on!

  • @TheRealtMG Work in EMS/nursing for at least a day and you'll discover all sorts of forms of humor you never would have thought existed.

  • You are a role model for us all. Professional and only telling us few on youtube your little secrets. Keep up to good work!

  • i see that my 2nd comment didn't show up....just because you think you can be a midwife doesn't cange the facts; birth has always and will always belong to WOMEN. why don't you become an ob, you'd fit right in.

  • Sorry the last comment didn't come up, should be up now, they have to get approved and obviously mums don't like it if I nip out half way through a birth to start checking you tube. As for "Birth belongs to women" its 2007 luv, it was all you women who wanted your equality. If you can't cope with it now you've got it dont go blaming me!

  • I don't understand why Mike is getting such a hard time, what on earth is wrong with referring to the trimness of a lady's birth tunnel? That's mike's working environment after all. Office workers moan about having to work in a messy office, so why not mike eh.

  • True my friend. Obviously we work flat out to bring new life safely into the world but at the same time we are human.. who wouldn't notice something if it was staring them in the face!

  • Because it's wholey unprofessional and unethical to discuss how a woman looks, and patently offensive.

  • Well thats your view, a lot of people would take it as a compliment. I mean if anything I was very flattering about both Janet(home visit) and Cerys (the lap dancer), not like I said anything nasty about their nether regions. Not as is Cerys is the shy sort anyway when it comes to that sort of thing. I spoke to Cerys and Janet after the filming and neither said they were upset about it.

  • I think Mike has a point, we all want a pleasent working environment. In fact this could be a health and safety issue, can't see the wood for the trees and all that.

  • i just feel sorry for the suckers considering a career in midwifery with you as their role model when your obviously a chump!

i couldnt care less if you think nzers arent funny but if you really are what you claim i do think you need to respect your clients a little more and think about the image of midwifery- especially for males- that you are projecting. good luck!

  • yes i am from nz mike where our midwifery qualifications and practicing protocol are very much in line with that of the uk. on that note i highly doubt anyone with your level of training would would find it kosher to comment on a womans career as a stripper therefore her being nice to 'work on'- smut and her status as cleanly shaved.

in a home birth environment you wouldnt be wearing scrubs and a surgical mask nor would you be alone in attendence.

  • You sound just like my boss! Sorry for any offence caused about NZ. It's alovely place and I hope to visit it one day. Job swap maybe?

  • oh please! you people cant beleive this guy!

    mike your humour is lame

  • Whatsver next, a kiwi accusing us of having no sense of humour. Aren't people funny?

  • men should not be midwives. birth belongs to women.

  • Times change luv. My old man didn't think women should be allowed behind the wheel, but I think some lady drivers can be very good.

  • actually, the fact that birth is for women and belongs to women will NEVER change.

  • Mike - I'm in midwifery school now. It's great to see you representing!

  • Go for it! Nor for the squeamish mind. I've seen a few sights I can tell you!

  • Nice!

  • It can be, yes, but there are dark times too, like when you're attending a home birth (with a lot of kit) but there is absolutely no parking available.

  • Hi Mike, Just want to know when you next update is comming. I'm considering a career in midwifery and your diary is inspiring. I hope Peter is doing ok!

  • More films to follow for subscribers Leostri. Re your career, go for it, as long as you are prepared to take the rough with the smooth...!
