Like Peter below, I can feel the love you have for growing things in this video...
Although, unlike him, I am not drinking rum and didnt fight karate today...lol..I did a supermarket shop, a walk and played with my kittens and son though :)
Today I baked bread, painted a fence, worked in my garden, wrote poetry and finally went and fought karate at my karate club. Now I am relaxing, drinking rum, and enjoying your garden. I like the images and the music. I can feel the love you have for growing things, you just let them grow naturally. Your garden is just as it should be.
Thanks Tia. The weeds did get away from me as usual-they just go wild out in the perennial beds. But that's what I love about perennials- they will bloom in all their beauty in spite of my neglect.
Lovely to see. Your plants look at the same stage as ours in Northern England. The only veg I'm growing is potatoes as I don't have space now but my pear tree has 17 pears (2 last year), I have apples, damsons and cherries. Thanks for sharing.
It is hard work- but well worth it. I can a lot and there's nothing like pulling out a jar of garden tomatoes in the middle of winter to bring back the summer sunshine.
I love Doc's guitar playing. And nobody can pick mandolin quite like Grisman. I originally thought of using Janis Joplin's version...or even Billie Holliday's...but in the end I decided the simplicity of guitar and mandolin worked better with this vid.
Your choice of the simplicity was perfect. They made it a laid back summer stroll through the garden.
I "think" I have about everything Doc has ever recorded, and most of David's. Doc is a National treasure, and one of the most incredible men I've ever had the honor of meeting.

We have a very short season so our crops have to grow quickly. Luckily the midnight sun helps.

Pears! And cherries- two things I'd love to grow. Do you make jam from your fruit?
myrnaukelele 3 years ago
Only from my damsons because there are more of those than anything else.

hmmm you could make some roasted sunflower seeds.

Sunflowers are such happy flowers ... a garden isn't quite complete without them.

Beautiful!!! Look at all your hard work! It must be such a huge reward to harvest all that yummy stuff!

Everythings looking nice and lush Maureen! Well except for the Ankle Corn. Ankle Corn is always a bad variety to plant:)

You're right Blinkazoid. I'll try a different variety next year lol!
I'm such an optomist- planting corn in Alaska...

Geez, if you tell me you grow ranch dressing too, then I'm on my way up there for lunch.
These garden vids of yours always remind me of my mother. She so loved her garden.

Thanks Heidi. We can look back at all these garden vids in the middle of winter and remember the beauty...

Looks beautiful up there, and well on its way to full production. You squeeze an awful lot into a mighty short season.
And you slapped two of my favorite musicians together for the background. I love what they do with this song.
