I honestly think this album was Frida's best work. I cannot understand how it did so badly (poor single choices?). This should have been the lead single, because it sets the tone for the whole album. Then HEART OF THE COUNTRY, followed by the last song on the album, which was almost as good as LIKE AN ANGEL by Abba. COME TO ME (I AM WOMAN) was a terrible choice as a single and, embarrassingly, the cover version by Su Pollard (!) did better in the charts!!
It was an edgy and totally unpredictable song away from the melodic pop and closer to darker tones and misterious melodies with quite an interesting strong vocal. Frida was totally out of the box here ... no wonder she feels it's her favourite track. Yet very missunderstood and unappreciated at the time maybe for the all reason that describe this song as it is. I love it!
This was not too bad actually. Not as ground breaking as what she did together with ABBA ofcourse, but I can't understand why she didn't succeed more as Frida. Maybe ABBA was both her blessing and curse. In a way it's understandable that she will always be associated with the group.
This song is not as good at "Something going on" though.
Awesome powerful performance by Frida plus those 'Burundi drums' (anyone remember that?), not to mention bass lines by the great Tony Levin... FANTASTIC!, if you ask me.
On the other hand I understand this thing should sound like a tough nut to crack for an average ABBA fan ;)
Frida looked and sounded great in this video but let's face it - the song is nothing special.
Apart from wonderful 'I Know There's Something Going On' Frida didn't record anything terribly interesting. It's a shame because she had such an amazing voice.
Apart from a couple of songs on "Something's Going on" (the title track , "To Turn the Stone" ) and the song "Slowly" from "Shine" - writen by B & B for ABBA - Frida got no chance to show what a brilliant vehicle her voice could be with the right material. Thankfully we got to experience it with some of Abba's songs with Frida on lead vocals, in particular "One Man,OneWoman", "Our Last Summer" , "I Let The Music Speak" and the almost criminally overlooked "Put On Your White Sombrero".
LoL, I know where you're coming from. It's not the typical ABBA sound, but hey, Frida is still rocking here. I love her movements and her overall performance in this video.
angel585, according to what MAMsMom mentions "Miami Vice", I thought that this music and her fashion sense are like what you see in Miami Vice. It's known for pastel colored coats, Ferraris, sexy women, etc.
Frida is HOT, HOT, HOT in this video!

What does the phrase Twist In The Dark mean anyway?
promagnum 2 years ago
I think it means that because of "him" she can't sleep, so she "twists in the dark"

It was a cop show set in Miami, on NBC, from the mid '80s, starred Don Johnson.
