  • this is so awesome but I hope my dog wont need it

  • awesome. great seeing people that care a lot about their pets.

  • Thank you for doing this.

  • I bet that cute little doggie is happy for being able to walk again! :D

  • If a wheelchair is a good idea were can I get one

  • @someguyindarkroom Hi, you first need to find out the cause/reason for the pinched nerve. If it's okay to for her to use a wheelchair then yes, it will definitely help her to walk. She will have to get use to it at first. You can buy them from Eddie's Wheels or other online stores. Or you can buy used on eBay or craigslist since most people will sale them and pass on for another dog to have. Best wishes for you and your dog.

  • Appear not apperception

  • She walks like she is drunk she apperception to have no pain do you think a weelchair will be good and is your baby happy

  • My shepherd just started having problems with her hind legs she can walk but she losses balance she has a pinched nerve

  • love it you guys are the best :)

  • @Donnachain Then you are too! :)

  • It's nice to come across a video taken 3 years ago, showing this shepherd using a used Eddie's Wheels cart to move along again......Hope this cart continues to give long life to other similarly afflicted German Shepherds with DM.

  • @Edswheel YES, and I know that it has had 2 different owners since my dog Boomer used it and also the original owner and I and the 2 after me, all have put our Dogs names on it and it so that it continues to remember the dogs owner after owner. Thanks Eddie's Wheels!!!!!

  • I would be willing to give my dog a wheelchair if he still has the will to live.

  • thank you so much! :)

  • To think there are dog owners in this world who would give up their dog to a shelter because it is disabled or hurting. It's unreal how many dogs end up alone in shelters because their family no longer found a "use" for him/her. Just imagine if all dog owners were as caring and as wonderful as the ones in this video, what a world we would have. Especially with german shepherds, they are as sensitive as children. Congrats to you for caring for your dog.

  • @jazzguitar2010 Thanks and it's nice to know their are others like you too!!!

  • poor thing, good for you getting the dog wheelchair.

  • We lost our GSD Solomon a couple of years ago to something similar. It was heartbreaking to see a dog so healthy in all other ways succumb to a stupid spinal thing. He was so alive, even to the end, in fact he was playing ball with me (i had to roll it to him) the day I took him in to be put down.

I love you Solomon! I still miss you & think about you every day! You were the best!

  • @camason1015 We love you too Solomon, I know you were a great dog, and had some awesome owners. Bet you are chasing balls over the rainbow now with our best buddy Boomer. :)

  • I loved this video. I am so happy you were able to give Boomer the dignity of walking for his last few months. So sorry for your loss. Boomer obviously was a well loved member of your family.

  • @frodo08830 Thank you so much for the kinds thoughts.

  • I'm sorry to hear about Boomer :(. You gave him a good life though.

  • Aww its such a sad video and just read he passed away :( RIP Boomer :( Can i ask why was he put into a wheelchair?

  • @PoliceObsessed Hi, Boomer had started losing control of his rear legs and could not walk. So we bought him this wheel chair to be able to walk with us a little everyday before he became completely paralysed and the wheelchair wouldn't help him either. Boomer lived with DM a long while, but it suddenly started paralyzing him and we knew he wouldn't be with us much longer, so we tried to make the best of the days we were lucky enough to have him with us. He loved to go on walks. I miss him!!

  • @diamondSranch1 I got told by my vet that my 7 year old german shepherd was going to have hip problems in the future so i have started giving him joint care but hope it wont be too bad because if it will i would put him down rather than to suffer. I know how you feel its very sad losing your best friend but im sure boomer is at peace in heaven looking down on you :)

  • @PoliceObsessed Hi. Our vet does hip surgery on even 9 year olds and has great results. Boomer's hips were perfect. He had DM, He never felt any pain. DM does not give them any pain at all, which is why in the end it's so hard on an owner to put them asleep because they are so happy all the time, just can't walk. DM eventually gets worse and spreads towards the front and then you have to decide when it's time, because the dog is so happy, it' just so sad. Hip problems are treatable at least.

  • @diamondSranch1 Beautiful dog. This happened to one of my GSD's. Vet blamed it on the breeders. I give my current shep joint vitamins every day hoping to avoid the same thing.

  • @stingraybch I hope you never have to suffer again with it, I also have a new GSD and tried to find a breeder that didn't have it in any of the lines, but I guess you never know. Best wishes!!

  • So sorry to hear about your loss of Boomer. He was an incredibly handsome dog who was able to live a longer and fulfilling life because you got him a wheelchair.

  • Excuse me a little bad English.

I also had the same problem of German shepherd our Danny left us a year ago.Unfortunately for us such a wheelchair could not find the.I am very sorry for your dogs friend.

  • Szeegény. most nagy szükség lenneilyenre PICÚR nak is .((

  • I'm almost afraid to ask, but is Boomer still with you? I have a 7 yr old female German Shepherd and she is extremely lively and functional. she loves to chase rabbits and squirrels. Never caught any, thank God. But she enjoys the hunt.

  • Hi, We lost Boomer a fews months after this video was taken. It was very hard on us. Now we have another German Shepherd named Bowie. Like Boomer, Bowie enjoys all the things your female loves, chasing rabbits, squirrels, turkey, deer, armadillos and unfortunately, just like Boomer, Skunks! We've taken many skunk baths, ha!

  • thats really sad....but the beautiful thing is that a dog does't remember the past and think " i wish it wasn't this way" im sure boomer still was a very happy dog that lived a good life....my sympathy goes out to you for loosing him and thank you for being so strong

  • thats so sad, my doggy has the same but three years now since first symptoms she is still flying around in her cart. FIngers crossed she remains fighting please God.

  • Boomer lived almost 6 years after first symptoms. I hope you will have the same in your pup or more.

  • where did you get him from?

  • We adopted him from a German shepherd rescue.

  • where did you get the doggie wheel chair for him? My female GSD has displacia so bad that our vet suggested a wheel chair for her otherwise it's euthansia. She can barely get outside to go potty anymore and she's only 7 years young!!

  • I bought it off eBay (or you can order straight from Eddie's Wheels). I hope you can save or work with a vet with payment options and have your dogs hips replaced since he's only 7, it would be worth it. My dog had DM so there is not fixing it, and uncurable but with hip diplacis it's fixable, so please talk to other vets about the surgery. Good luck!

  • we cant afford the hip replacement but the bigger issue is our GSD is SEVERELY allergic to medications. We almost lost her when we had to have her fixed. our vet is looking into alternatives medications. She's never seen anything like the reactions our dog has. She cant even be put on flea prevent. Something to do with her liver and kidneys is all the vet has been able to figure out. We'd rather not take another chance at having her put under for a surgery. thanx!!!

  • Oh poor dog

  • hi my german is currently using a wheel chair and he started dragging his right hind leg a year ago. Can you let me know which boots you guys are using and, if you are comfortable, how long it took for the DM to travel to the rest of the body? right now, both of his hind legs are pretty much number and drags both of them. But he's still very active in walking and playing (w/ the chair). Thanks!

  • I lost me beloved shepherd to DM and possiby my 2nd one is sick with it as well. it's a horrible horrible disease.

  • I'm so sorry. I wish they could find a cure for this disease. I hope my shepherd now never gets it, he's one year old.

  • aww i feel so sorry for your dog. I also have a german shepherd and he is 6 years. If you dont mind me asking but what exactly happened to your dog ?

  • When he was 8 he started dragging his back paw, MRI showed nothing and they diagnosed him with Degenerative myelopathy. It's the worst because your dog never feels any pain & is just numb and when it comes time to put them to sleep when it goes to neck, it's extra sad because he's still happy and doesn't hurt or anything. We have a new German Shepherd now and he's 1 year old, I hope this never happens to us/him again. Thanks for the comment, I know you are great if you have a German Shepherd!

  • aw im sorry to hear that your wonderful german shepherd passed away. you must still be missing him

  • It does not always go that far though. Some dogs can outlie the disease if ot is well managed with hydrotherpay, physio, supplement therapy organic food etc

  • It helps, but is not a cure. We spent $4500 on MRI, had swimming therapy, foods, etc.. we would do anything. But after 6 years of this disease it overcame him. Some dogs will do better than others, as there is no answer for that either. You can educate yourself with the Vet who is devoting his life trying to find a cure for this, Dr. Roger Clemmons at the U of Florida Vet School. We worked with him the whole time and maybe why Boomer lasted as long as he did.

  • Thx so much, my dog has car exidant about week ago. Now i know its possible :-)

  • Thank you so much for this video!! Our shepheard has DM too and can barely walk anymore, he is only 8 yrs young! We are looking into chairs for him and this video has giving me a lot of hope..we have fearded we would have to put him to sleep. Thanks again and so sorry about your brave pup!

  • I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, it makes me very sad. I wish the best for both of you. If I can help in any way please let me know.

  • aww you have a very beautiful dog in this video. It's too bad he passed away, and I'm sorry for your loss. It's also fortunate you have these videos to look back on and remember the good times :)

  • Thanks, your are right, I'm so glad I have this video. I will always miss him horribly. He was such a great friend.

  • He sure was, me too, thanks!

  • How fantastic, he looks so happy.

  • My Shepherd has DM. What is it that eventually kills them? I thought they had to be put to sleep due to the paralyzation.

  • I'm so sorry to hear your dog has DM. They become paralyzed, but the owner has to decide when to put them to sleep. With DM there is no pain at all, so he is happy except can't walk, control bowels etc. The paralyzation eventually will go to the lungs and kill them, but I don't know of anyone that lets it go that long. When our dog started to loose some control in his neck we knew it was time, and again is hard because otherwise he's so happy. It's the worst decease ever, again I am so sorry.

  • R.I.P Broomer. diamondSranch1 My Heart feels heavy for your loss.

  • You guys are very sweet owners and you set a fine example to other pet owners. He reminded him of my dog, whom passed a few years ago. His hind legs also gave out, however he had other medical complications which basically called for us to place him to sleep so that he could go quietly and respectfully. You guys are awesome, and from these videos I can tell this pooch lived life fully and happily :D

  • What a cute dog! What happened to him? If it's okay to ask.

  • Boomer had DM, a terrible paralyizing nerological disease, which finally took his life several months after this video was taken. We were so glad to have this wheelchair which allowed him to still be able to take walks with us while he still was able to use his front legs. He always loved going on walks with us. We miss him terribly.
