Do you have the Blue Underground SE of this? The menu is awesome, w/the face rising out of the ground, the clouds moving overhead w/the score. So stunningly creepy, I love it.
@coffycup75 yeah, the menu is just divine! it gives you the creeps and gets you into the right mood to watch the movie! this is definetly one of the best dvd's fitting the mood off the movie! if i would do a review, i would need a lot of fog and a good atmosphere!:)
One of the saddest, most devastating main themes in horror. Perfectly foreshadowing the events in the film. It's a crime this film wasn't more realized when it came out. It really is a mini-masterpiece.
I saw it last week and I really loved it! I cant believe it slipped under the radar. No doubt due to it being pushed into the video nasty category? I am definitely getting the BU version when I can afford it!
This music reminds me of the theme song off an old British show called Barriers. I've shared the vid with you. I wonder if John would have any memories of it?
Oh I think I've seen that show. TVO used to show it here. The title sequence was in black and white, where someone is thrown out of a car at some Russian border crossing or something. The car goes through, freeze frames and we get the barrier title and then it continues and the border guards open fire and it blows up. And the escaped passanger walks away. If so, I did catch that way back in the 80's.
Good Job Honeybuns! ahh you know that flowing water coming in back and forth is quite refreshing! Should it be? I guess music can be beautiful and haunting huh? Like 'Don't Look now' somehow.I too must see this again! i've seen it once but like 'Scanners' i fear this really is dead and buried right at the bottom of all my videos! XXX
I tried to put fog effects on this, but it kept closing out with each attempt, so I just left it as is. Would've been so dope ... I wanted to capture the feel of the DVD menu, which is my favorite for any film. Blue Underground nailed it with this one.
Lovely and creepy! Great sax tones in there. I still have to see this film, heard so much about it. I'll probably just buy the DVD, why not? Great stuff, thanks again!
Oh man, my dad got this book and I remember how creepy I thought it was and yet how U couldn't stop staring at it. I didn't know there was a movie. Fitting score.
Yes it was a film first and the book was a novelization. Saw it at a bookstore once, the cover doesn't give credit to the screenwriters as I recall so its easy to assume it was an original novel. They were lucky to get Chelsea Quinn Yarbo to write it, her horror/fantasy books are well received, I must read her stuff.
Wasn't this something to do with 'Alien' in someway..i recall the cover saying something about from teh makers of Alien? Mind you everyone got in on that was just talking about LOL! might of just been producers. Wasn't O'bannon don't think.
Well, Ronald Shusett writing both Alien and D&B with O'Bannon might be the reason for the "makers of ..." mention. I'll never forget missing the chance to attend O'Bannon's seminar on Screenwriting at the Newport Beach Film Festival several years ago. I got sick ... grrr, should've gone anyway!
Yup Carmie is right again! The original story was by Alex Stern and Jeff Millar and then Ron and Dan wrote the screenplay from that. Since Ron/Dan wrote the screenplay [Ron did some story work anyway] for "Alien" and received sole credit for the screenplay [which Hill/Giler rewrote ] they were considered "creators of Alien". And this being a small horror film, any angle you can sell it with, is not to be ignored. Aside from Dan/Ron's connection it has nothing to do with Alien.
love this music, listen to it when i'm stressed. hey someone cover it, or better still a proper release?

Renzetti is an unsung hero of suspense movie scores.
His work is creative yet pays homage to many greats before him.
