Eloy's music is deep in another way and much more cleares,progressive.Pink Floyd is mostly a psychedelic band.I recommend you to check and listen other progressive bands and Eloy albums.

I don't really understand why people associate great songwriting with drugs. Prog rock is too intelligible and far too complex to be conceived when you are blitzed out of your mind. In my opinion I believe that many great 70's bands got ideas from drug experiences but it was far from the sole reason they created such great music.

I think that the difference is that Prog would make use of odd time shifts, Psy rock can be more sound effect based. but bands do cross over the line Eloy is one of those bands.

Even though I used to love old Pink Floyd (when Waters was around), their material often ventured into the 'dark side' of the psyche, which I've grown tired of in recent years. It no longer holds any resonance or relevance like it used to. However, with old Eloy, Grobschnitt and Yes, their optimism and and mysticism never released their grip on me. These guys feel as fresh as the day I first heard them on my older brother's stereo way back when.. thanks for the flashback! A great video too!!
