  • @ravenhairchic in my experience they are not

  • How this is a trick? my hamster can do that too.

  • "The seconds are ticking away"

    -walks slowly to ball- XD

But seriously, awesome job man. This must have take a lot of patience and time :)

  • Very cute! Do you find that Goffin's are easier to keep then the bigger cockatoo breeds?

  • Why is your cockatoo so small?

  • plz can u tell me wuts the normal weight for 13week goffin cockatooo

  • you are mor stupid mr barrel

  • Can u teach me how to train a parrot how to wave ?

  • @applehead97ify

The wave starts with a simple step up. Present the hand as though you want the bird to step up, but reinforce just the foot lift with the reward (or the bridge). Also add in the visual cue and/or the audio cue. Our birds seem to respond better to visual cues, like a wave. Be sure to keep it consistent and methodical. With most birds, there is a "tipping point" where they realize what behavior is being taught. For some it comes right away, for others it takes longer.

  • What treats do you use to train them with?

  • @PanchoandZoey

We use roasted unsalted sunflower kernels. The key is that whatever treat you use during training should be just for training. This helps the bird get into a learning mode, as they come to associate that particular treat with training. And remember, training isn't about conditioning a bird to do a behavior. It's about working together toward a common goal that both of you are excited about. They're terribly smart, and they love a challenge, and they love when they see you excited

  • That is amazing. I was wondering if you have some advise. I have just got a goffins and she is lovely. I am teaching her to step up at the moment, she will do it if I put a spare perch in front of her, but not if I just put my arm out. Do you have any advise on how to proceed, or shall I just keep persevering with what I am doing... great job to you and the birds :)

  • @tsaJames: I don't have a Goffins, but I do have an Umbrella and an African Grey. When you want them to step up, touch her lightly on her chest right above her foot and say "step up." Do the same thing every time and she will get it with time. Use a treat when training at first.

  • thanks for this video. Go Cockatoo College! #1 cockatoo basketball team!

  • They are so cute, you have done a great job together.

I have a Blue Fronted Amazon and he is the light of my life. Thanks for sharing

  • Beautiful bird!

I love goffin's 'toos, they are so cute and intelligent.

You are very lucky to have such a gorgeous parrot.

Her tricks are amazing, she does them so well!

  • Very cute little goffin!

  • aw they are so cute!

  • dude whats ur problem

  • Very cute little goffin, he's very, very good at tricktraining, and he's so young! =)

  • that's clever! i have one question~do you need to keep the birdy hungry before you training it?

  • I'm not a fan of "training diets." The bird needs to be motivated to learn because it's interested in the process, not because it feels it needs to do something simply to survive. For most "civilian" parrot owners (not wildlife parks or professional show birds) the purpose of the training is enrichment and fun, so I think that's the approach that works best.

  • amazing, interesting :D

  • well trained bird

  • how di-morphic are the goffins? My experience with 'tiels has taught me that only males speak and do tricks, while females are quiet and affectionate. I would love to get a Goffin, or Galah, but there would be mutiny from my male 'tiel...he rules the house, lol

  • We have one boy goffin (From another home—turns out it was a wacky home—dad's currently in jail for a long time for touching kids. Anyway, he's more interested in humans, the female eclectus, then the other goffins, but he definitely has a favorite among the girls. She'll let him near when her sister isn't around. None of the goffins "talk' as such, but all three communicate verbally with hoots and honks and monkey chatter, as well as non verbal clues like waves and points and leads.

  • Great work with your goffins, I give you a 21 raised-crest salute. I'm a cockatiel guy, but australian parrots are all my favs

  • Gotta love Australia. All the animals are either adorable or deadly, and some are both. Goffin's are actually from a single island in Indonesia that sit in the straits between Darwin and New Guinea. They're very closely related to bare-eyed cockatoos (little correllas) which are Aussie birds. In fact we think our male goffin might be the brother of a bird in our bird club who we believed to have had mixed parents.

  • Excellent job!

I look forward to watching more of Max and Maisie!

  • What a wonderful relationship you have with your bird and what a lucky bird that is. My Kiwi (goffins) is in love with my female chihuahua and will only play with her but that's ok. At least they're happy.

  • beautiful birds, excellent trainer!

  • How cool.

  • just a tip: i noticed you keep giving him treats after ever trick. If you make him do mabey five tricks and them give him one treat he won't get full too fast so he can do more tricks at a time..... Their both really cute! i have five cockatoos and they all do tricks. Great job training them!!

  • cute!

  • that is going to be a hell of a smart bird

  • (...continued) Maybe have you dad feed him. Not necessarily hand him the food or even interact with him, but simply fill his bowls in a pleasant way. Let the bird knows he can be trusted. From there, watch for the signs of a growing relationship: is there curiosity that has replaced anger on the bird's part? That's a step. More situations like that, where they depend on each other, will help.

    Good Luck

  • hi i have a huge problem i have a goffin and his 5 years old and they give it to me, and he hates my dad what can i do?

  • 5 years old can be a pretty hormonal time for a new Goffin, so don't be surprised if he's acting a little nutty. Be thankful that he likes someone, as that person should be his primary liason between the rest of the world. First advice would be to get to an avian vet for a thorough physical and conclusive DA sex test. That was you know what you're dealing with. If everything is clean, the next key is simply patience and understanding. (continued..._

  • u think thats good my goffin used to be able to pick the padlock on his cage

P.S they do not make good pets they like to destroy eveything they can and they do not like to be alone they will scream there heads off fyi i spend alot of time with mine but if i leave hime alone for 2sec he screams and its not something u can tune out and maybe its jst mine but im pretty they r the spawn of satan

  • No it's just yours.

  • Max 7 maise are too adorable and so smart!

  • lol, thanks :) i just got a new goffin cockatoo and i'm trying to get her to learn new tricks

  • what's the treat you give her after every trick?

  • Unsalted sunflower kernels. Anything the bird likes is fine, though. We do use the sunflower kernels just for training, though. They way they know that when there's sunflower kernels involved it's time to get serious.

  • This is fantastic! You have such a respectful relationship with your birds. I want a Goffin's when I have enough time to devote to a higher-maintenance bird like that. They are beautiful birds and yours are no exception.

    More videos, please!

  • You could be my friend. Do you like sunflower seeds?

  • Hi dude i was wondering did you Train those Goffin Cockatoos ? And can i have your e-mail i might need some tips since im buying a Moluccan Cockatoo in the near future.

  • that kid is just mean he probaly bringin u down because he probaly cant find some himself

  • Hi again i just went to another video you have done with a green ring so you do them. I would like to take the time to say thank you and please please keep doing more of them. So my parrot will be as happy as yours. I have also subscribed to you aswell.

  • Hi i love the tricks you have got her to do they are grate. I have a Yellow frounted-Amazon and he is a baby too,at a year old i would like it if you could show us how you got her to do them. As i am new to keeping birds and don't no the best way of training him. Any tips would be grate. If you would be so kind and thank you for your time.

  • Awesome video, sounds still like a baby!

  • this is lame. Look at the other video about parakeet tricks. It plays golf, basketball, does summersaults, turns arounds, jumps up, and so much more. This bird can't do anything!!

  • Hey moron, it takes TIME for a bird to learn to do things. Birds just dont "know", they are taught! Budgies are damn right smart, but with time, this goffins can learn a lot :)

  • Your Goffins are so well trained and they are very beautiful!

  • i want u to teach my dumbass budgies something can i enrol in ur college pleaz

  • I loved your video. I thinks it is great that you take the time to play and teach tricks. You look like a great bird dad. I hope my bird kids can pick up some tips from your kids too. as in U2 and M2 and maybe my sun conure2! Ha Ha. thanks for a neat show!

    mysweetybird

  • so, can i apply to this college? how much credidability does this college have if i apply to a job? how much is tuition? and do i have to provide my own props?

  • why does the female screech so much more than the male?

  • wow she smart. Where is that cockatoo collage? lol i liek to know where do you get the Props for the tricks?

  • I'm afraid Max would not make MY Cockatoo basketball team (if I had such a thing) unless he works on his game. He needs some more coaching, I think.

  • I am getting a Goffin cockatoo soon and am trying to learn as much as I can to stimulate him and teach him! Thanks for the great ideas! What do you give your Goffins for a treat?

  • Stupid?

thats FAR from stupid mate. It must have taken a lot of patient effort to teach them both to do stuff like that>well done. And the birds are great.

I want to teach my grey but at the moment, he is only capable of being given a toy and running off with it, so getting him to bring it back, well, you+they have done well there!

  • what do you use as treats to motivate them?

this is very cute but that screeching would drive me insane and give me hypertension

  • wish i could meet more guys like u that love parrots!!! i own 16

  • I've watched his video 5 times. The cuteness is addictive.

  • totally inspirational

  • What is the treat that you keep giving them, they sure seem to love it! Great tricks, smart toos!

  • Nice bird cool tricks

  • Sweet birds! Iam in oklahoma and was wondering where I can get a Goffin !Peace Out

  • Well, finding a reputable breeder isn't that hard, but if we had it to do all over again, we'd try to find a bird that needed a home. There are countless parrots out there that need good homes. I'd recommend you get in touch with a bird rescue or local parrot club.

  • I'm in search of homeless parrots or cockatoos.

  • you have very smart birds i love the tricks they can do keep them up they doing very good

  • those tricks definatly arent stupid, do they make those loud sounds alot

  • What smart birds, great tricks :)

  • Why stupid

  • So excellent!

  • how did u teach it to fetch?

  • I've a goffin's in her early 20s and he's incredibly intelligent. I'm just a bit confused why you would call this "Stupid Goffin Cockatoo" tricks... :P Since they are obviously smart and the tricks are pretty awesome.

Mine mostly rolls over, dances, sticks out his tongue, sings, opens locks, etc. But then I haven't tried to teach him anything, he just leans what makes me laugh and if it does..he keeps doing it.

  • I am not recovered 14 days when I take an injury

  • great video and I've rated it as five stars. Please check out mine on some 1930's trading cards of aviary and cage birds.

  • Me too 5 stars

  • awesome!

  • can budgies learn those kind of tricks and if they can where do the budgies go to

  • can i send my cockatiel there???? or is he not allowed??

  • thanks for the video! these guys have it good!

  • those are pretty birds, well trained too.

  • thta was adorable!

  • that's adorable! My Goffin has never been interested in training... He's a punk :D

  • They're adorable!

  • Your birds are very smart. I have a goffin too. I just thought I'd tell you that keys can be poisionous to birds. The metals they are made with can be toxic to birds.

  • Good advice about keys. The one we use for training is made from stainless steel, so we don't have to worry about toxicity. Actually, it's not even a key, it's just a piece of stainless that I machined into a somewhat key-like shape and put a plastic key cover on so it would be easy for them to hold. Hollywood magic.

  • LOL!Great idea,glad to hear it! :)

  • How can I train my birds like that? I find people with experience better to communicate to than books lol

  • Great video, darling birds! I have two Goffins who don't get along...can they get into Cockatoo College? Lol!

  • Loved the video!!

  • Maisie is beautiful <3

  • Love your birds...would love a Cockatoo college for my 3yr old U2. Thanks for sharing!!
