Truly, definitions of styles during the early 90s was very unclear, almost impossible to distinguish among the options. Here in Brazil, the 80s is called Flash House and the 90s nobody knows what to say about it, and the ones more knowledgeable call it Eurodance. I think everybody had only one option, to trust what they heard and overheard about it here and there, no matter how imprecise that could be. Perhaps a radio station would say A in the US and in Brazil, it would say B, so it's hard!
It seems that we have different terminologies used in different countries. The 90s music IN BRAZIL was either House or Dance (with these names). Some minor ones who did not understand a bit of such a style of music would generalize everything as Techno, others (the majority), just Dance or using slang like "putz-putz" or "pô-pe-rô".
Much later I came to know the term Eurodance and that's how I've been calling it, but I confess, now I don't know what to say...
There is not such thing like "Eurodance". This is a silly term the americans invented and we the Europeans don't accept it. You can hear it at the end of this same interview.
What does author of this video has to do with this? Do you understand what people in this video are saying? guess not. For techno style watch this video.
I think most of countries called this style as Techno, together with all early 90s styles. Also there were many Techno based lyrics. Like in 2 unlimited "Techno makin' no mistakin'" etc.I haven't seen any compilation called Euro Dance.I guess the internet cleared it out. In 90s it was hard to find anything precise besides reading newspapers and believing in random informations.
That goes for Belgium too. I guess people in my country called all electronic music "House". Later on everybody began calling all kinds of subgenres by its name or at least how they saw fit.
