I have a Black Widow and I've been trying to throw it like this for the last few weeks. It won't move at all. Recently it only works on real wood. Synthetic lanes provide me little movement and I've begun to find myself moving left and aiming at the pocket. I throw a normally straight ball on the right side of the alley and let it hook at the end of the lane. Any suggestions?

who cares if he is lying, i still use the black widow pearl. I have won several tournements with it. It depends on who is throwing it, and how its is taken care of for how long it will last. the ball isnt that old. i also throw a ball that is from 2001 and have won tournements with that also.

For those who don't know... the ones complaining about the way he throws. Notice how the ball falls off his hand just before he "throws"(rolls) the ball. That lets gravity assist in the rev generation. Yes, his balance is sometimes off but he's putting a lot on the ball and his rev rate obviously matches his speed. The ball reads the lanes and makes a great move on the back end to face up to the pocket.
I have the ball as a secondary to the jigsaw...i had it drilled to go longer and snap towards the end...great ball have had it for three years. AVG 196 high school
I own a Hammer Black Widdow Pearl i avg 174 on a long house oil moving to a different house next season and a different oil pattern so it will be intersting.
If you get one make sure you get it drilled the way you want it done and that the person drilling the ball knows what the hell they are doing i had to have mine redrilled because the spastic douchebag that did it had my weight in the wrong place
Sure, why not? Just get it drilled the way whatever benefits for you. I mean, if you can still find this ball available to purchased, I don't see why not. They've released newer models of this series that are suppose to be more "aggressive" but the Black Widow Pearl was pretty prime two years ago.
My husband owns and still uses his black widow. Maybe you should get it resurfaced. He got his new when I came out and it still hits as hard as it did before. All you need to do is set it out side and let the sun bake the ball so all the oil will drip off of it. It works for my husband it might work for you.

I throw on an average speed of 17mph and a rev rate of about 475-500. i used to get this bad boy to hook alot and now i use it as a spare ball. now i have an ebonite playmaker :D and a brunswick c system 3.5 and ohh buddy that ball has so much snap!!!!

They just came out with "the sauce" with "their best coverstock yet" but i'm still debating which black widow to get i'm thinking about the Black Widow Venom right now, but they all just look so good!
Good call i'm probably gonna go with the BW Venom. As you said it is newer so there might be a couple of improvement in it.
As for your Black Widow Pearl have you tried batheing it? It could take over a dozen times and quite a while, but it might save your ball. If you want to know how I bathe my balls hit me up and I will get back to you.

Quick point out, I'm not a huge fan of Brunswick. Their balls are great out of the box, but they're basically turn into a sponge quickly.
No doubt, if you got the Black Widow Pearl, I'm sure you're going to like this ball. The new one, Black Widow Venom, is similar to this ball but I feel as if that Venom will skid too much; might not be a good selection, who knows.
I guess I would suggest Hammer Black Widow Pearl, or try the new Ebonite Playmaker. Its the pearl version of the Gamebreaker.
dude, slow down your feet and get some balance at the foul line. You dont have to run up to the foul line to get more ball speed. Your approach and mechanics are horrible, but somehow you can still throw a decent ball.
Hey, recently I've been practicing and I've been trying to work on my balance, like you mentioned. I also was taking it a little bit "slower" to the approach. Today wasn't too bad, and I was getting good reaction. 244, 208, 287 today practicing. :)

wanna be crankers**** you are a very good bowler and I would be proud to bowl any doubles event with you... they just wish there game was as good as yours... keep it up and learn to get a little more axis tilt on the ball by getting your hand under it more and you will see how much that side rotation on the ball will open the lanes... you look to have plenty of room to miss as it is and will a little more tilt you would have more!!! and you have plenty on fingers to get more tilt.. just try it.

yea i went bowling today and thats about the same place as where i stand and about the same mark. the only problem is that my bowling alley where i live just got resurfaced so it's very oily, and the oil isn't soaking into the lanes its just like a coat on top of it which is really throwing me off on my shots. sometimes my ball barely moves, but when the lanes are dry it has a big backend. so i never know how im gonna throw....

Normally my ball speed is in 15 to 17 mph as well. That's what my bowling alley reads as well. Although where do I stand? I don't have a set position. Because the lanes aren't always going to be the same. The leagues I bowl in they can dry up pretty easily, 10 guys to a lane. But uh... I guess if you really wanted to know where I usually start out. About five boards to the left of the center playing between third and second arrow.
Heh, Brunswick... I'm not really a fan of Brunswick. Most of their bowling balls are sponges, they suck up oil really well.

Crono, nice base form; however can I give you a tip? PLEASE stop doing what so many people do and trying to hit on it TOO MUCH! It's costing you balance, and without a LONG pearl ball like you have on a house shot, the ball would bite early and roll out anyway. Just relax your release, ESPECIALLY with a long, pearl ball... and give it time to read the lane. Those strikes can be IMPROVED on. Don't just think "hey strike"! You are kicking down the 5 pin and 8/10 pins a bit late - let it roll!!!
Black Widow Pearl is known for its aggressive backened snap.
With the Black Widow Solid, it is meant for heavy lane conditions. And the house shot, if that's what you bowl on, isn't really that much oil. But what it will do is hook early if that's what you like.
If I was you, I would go with the Black Widow Bite. That ball has backened to it but its suppose to be medium oil conditions and it also can hook early, I believe.
I personally wouldn't rebuy another Black Widow Pearl.

I average 209 on Saturday Mornings, my youth league, the manager throws out the shot called 3-Man Classic instead of the house shot. It has more oil on the edges, so it narrows your shot a little bit more.
On the traveling league that I bowl on Sundays which is the house shot at all different places, I average 219.

I've stated several times this wasn't meant to be youtube release. This was actually a school project for one of my classes.

I never do that when I'm in league bowling, or anything stupid related.

i suggest since you're a begginer get something like a Tropical Storm or a Groove.
if you think you're a little bit better than that

you can work around that.

My BWP was my 1st ball. Been bowling for a year now. No problem and still packs a hard punch. I use my BWP for spares or dry/med. oil ball now.

Just to be clear, my Black Widow Pearl didn't last very long.
It barely even hooks anymore (a lot of games on it) and it's a deadweight.
It's great ball from the start, but it has a pretty nasty after taste along the way.
I would probably go with a Venom over the Black Widow Pearl instead (since its newer anyways)

thanks... they didnt have a chart on the hook potential so i was jw if it was better than the twisted fury i just got. twisted fury is amazing

Heh, Brunswick... I'm not really a fan of Brunswick. Most of their bowling balls are sponges, they suck up oil really well.
I guess you can consider me an Ebonite fan. Hammer is owned by Ebonite and I was thinking about getting the Complete NV unless there's any new releases over the summer or beginning fall of this year.

yeah lol. na twisted fury is good. i was initially gonna get the black widow pearl. but twisted fury was hot looking and it has good midlane hook too.. i seen mad twisted furys at the shop. a lot of ppl are buying them so i knew they were good.. isnt there a new black widwo coming out?

Not that I heard of, although I really don't have any idea.
I thought the Black Widow Bite was going to wrap it up.
Like I said, new bowling balls won't be coming out now until like the beginning of fall. :P

Crono, nice base form; however can I give you a tip? PLEASE stop doing what so many people do and trying to hit on it TOO MUCH! It's costing you balance, and without a LONG pearl ball like you have on a house shot, the ball would bite early and roll out anyway. Just relax your release, ESPECIALLY with a long, pearl ball... and give it time to read the lane. Those strikes can be IMPROVED on. Don't just think "hey strike"! You are kicking down the 5 pin and 8/10 pins a bit late - let it roll!!!

It depends...
Black Widow Pearl is known for its aggressive backened snap.
With the Black Widow Solid, it is meant for heavy lane conditions. And the house shot, if that's what you bowl on, isn't really that much oil. But what it will do is hook early if that's what you like.
If I was you, I would go with the Black Widow Bite. That ball has backened to it but its suppose to be medium oil conditions and it also can hook early, I believe.
I personally wouldn't rebuy another Black Widow Pearl.

I average 209 on Saturday Mornings, my youth league, the manager throws out the shot called 3-Man Classic instead of the house shot. It has more oil on the edges, so it narrows your shot a little bit more.
On the traveling league that I bowl on Sundays which is the house shot at all different places, I average 219.
