Do you wait until the ship is fully descended in mode 2? I can't figure out when to use the bombs during the 2nd phase.

@sterlingxblue You have to place the bombs in the same place I did in the video, so that they're close enough to the center of the ship. Yes, I did wait on purpose so that the ship would descend far enough into the blast radius.

WTF!? I do the exact same thing, all 10 bombs, and it doesn't kill the mother ship. The cannon dies, then I wait for the ship to drop a bit and blow the second 10 bombs... nothing. WTF?!

@Weet1231 Pick up Armor icon drops from enemies. You start with 200 armor. Each icon gives you one point to the total. You can tell how much farming I had to do to get it up as high as it is in this video set. o_o;;

class eg. Just trooper, or are you going to in encompass different classes

for certain missions? Also is there a level which really frustrates you?

Chapter 3 is probably the most irritating chapter of the 3. What armor number are you at?

@EarthDefenceInferno Like I've said - I've finished up to 1-5, but I have not started chapter 2 yet. I'm working on grinding out the Daddy Warbugs achievement at this time. I have all of the armors at Tier 8. When I make the video set, of course I'm going to use different armors for different stages. It wouldn't be as much fun otherwise!

Matrix, this video helped me a lot thanks, how did u figure this technique out? Using C70 bombs is very smart. Though when u die and have already destroyed the mothership, do not retry. If u kill and die you still clear the mission. Please do the same Walkthroughs with EDF insect Armageddon!

@EarthDefenceInferno The first time I finished this game, I did indeed get gunned down and die, but the Mothership was already crashing. Much to my surprise I got the Mission Complete screen. It was epic having the hero be sacrificed for ultimate victory.

I plan on soloing Inferno on EDF:IA without bots. As of 8/2/2011 I'm still farming for money so I can get the Daddy Warbugs achievement. I've only gone up to 2-1, despite owning the game since launch. Grind, grind, grind. =)

In EDF:IA how far into the game are you?

im still trying to figure out the new game because everything seems different. New enemies, characters... everything!

The ending is a bit odd though, and the Ops and Intel are constantly annoying! what about you?

@EarthDefenceInferno On EDF:IA, I've had it since launch, but I'm working on getting the achievements out of the way. I only have single player ones left, and I've been farming in Ditchslap. I finished 1-5, but I haven't even started 2-1 yet because I want to get the "buy all weapons for all armors" achievement out of the way, and that's going to take a considerable amount of time. I've got all for Trooper, almost done with Tactical. Ways to go with the other two.

Even though he is slow i still find him very good to play as. once you finish all your achievements will you

do a walkthrough video? hope you do. I just finished normal and am starting hard.

Do you find the levels long? In 2017 they were quite short, but now on a hard difficulty, they take ages.

@EarthDefenceInferno The plan is to do a video walkthrough with annotation commentary. I'm not sure when I'll be able to start. Like I said, the furthest I've gotten is finishing 1-5. I really want to get some of those achievements out of the way. I swap out armors depending, and to keep things fresh. Overall, my least favorite is Jet, but that might be because my bot allies like to shoot, blow me up, and knock me down while I'm doing things. I'll judge a little better when I'm on my own.

One of the hardest battle I ever to do on Inferno. I had to use 2 controller (one as a decoy). Right when I landed the last shot on the boss I died and kept thinking, "GOD DAMMIT I CANT DO THIS AGAIN." But then the level said Mission cleared and I was like =D

How difficult was this game on normal and then on the harder difficulty settings? I am thinking about getting the new game which from what I have heard may be a little easier than the previous game. Do ya know this?

@SpunSeaLion This game benefits from you starting on Easy and then working your way up in sequence. Every piece of weaponry and armor that you find adds to the total. So by starting at the bottom rung, your total armor count keeps rising. And since you'll be overrun many times in this game, you WILL need the armor. You start with 200 armor. I couldn't finish the game on my own on Inferno until I had more than 9000 armor. Each armor icon adds one armor point to the total. Good luck. =)

sorry hello all I'm trying to finish level 53 and have tried hardest to do like in the video, however, with the C26 50 000 damage, but you do not understand something at once alien and destroy the cannon is also the mother ship? I destroyed the cannon with the c 26 but the ship is still on after ... how should I do? hello thanks

@Ianosh85p Place the first and second set of bombs in the area shown in the video. Detonate the first set. Wait until the ship comes down and you can see the glowing weak point. Detonate the second set of bombs to destroy the ship. The second set of bombs will not fall out of the air even though the cannon that they were on has fallen.

@hongpingmike In the video description it lists my weapons as C70 and C70, so I could drop the first set of ten, then the second set of ten. This does leave you defenseless if you position the bombs wrong, so you've got to get it right on the first try, or you'll have to start over, because you will not have any way to shoot the mothership.

@eternalnate inferno is a job if you love the game you spend made 10 -20 hours farming ants to build up your armor to beat some levels I bought this game a year 1/2 ago and have beaten inferno yet on all the levels.

My girlfriend and I tried forever and all manner of different strats to kill this level on inferno and never came close. Our last failed effort involved using the prominence and trying to zerg the mothership but I digress, thank you for posting this :)) Only 2 more levels to go (33 & 34)!

@CoregBlue Been gaming for 20+ years. Played Ghosts'n'Goblins and Ikaruga and every other game people proclaim as the "hardest ever." And I can safely say that while difficulty can be somewhat subjective from person to person, for me personally and everyone I know personally, EDF 2017 was the hardest game to 100% this gen by far. If it wasn't in your case, then congratulations. You're just that baddass. :P

@matrixandraia In the X-Box version is there the "Impossible" difficulty? On the Ps2 when you complete all levels you unlock the "Impossible" difficulty, and yes it's very hard to pass any level with that lol.

@Strike1x It goes from Easy, Normal, Hard, Hardest, Inferno. Inferno is no joke without the right weapons. Your armor count can go to zero in a few seconds if you get surrounded by spiders. But it is the most fun difficulty in the game to me.

to all those who say it doesn't work:

I tried this method a few times and all it got me was to the green-rapid fire part, not killing the ship in one go. however, i found out that for this method to work you MUST place the C70 in the same exact spot as in the video. anywhere else and the bombs don't fully damage the ship. i put it in the same exact spot and it worked perfectly. i even died after killing the mothership, waited till it completely died, and it gave me the "Mission Success" sign!

I am doing your technique but i hav one flaw. Once i have planted the bombs i cannot escape without dying whislt waiting for the mothership to get in range of where i put the bombs (a cannon leg) I have 5312 health but i cant escape

lol I was easily able to do this with the dual lysander Z's, but if you're not that great with sniper weapons then I would just call this an alternative method. ;)
