If banks around the country are failing because of overleveraged bets, It DOES matter that the SEC raised the maximum permissible leverage during Bush's time.
Also, stop throwing around "socialism" , Socialism is redistribution of income downward. Obama taxing the rest of us, so that people get massive bonuses is reverse socialism.

Psssss...I go into meetings every week and give presentations to large groups of people on multiple subjects. I make sure I know the material so well that I don't need notes or a teleprompter. If you can't do that, then you don't have sufficient knowledge of the subject.

I've just watched the full 13 minute clip and I must say that the general criticism of Brian Cowen in some posts is very unfair. Yes, his appearance and demeanour leaves so much to be desired but his words were carefully and purposely chosen and appeared to have made an impression on Obama. We (Ireland) need every bit of help we can get right now and the Obamas, Clintons and Mitchells of this world are closer to us today than they were last week. For that, Cowen deserves due recognition.

In the 1940's, we fought against the Germans; but we also fought against the Japanese: ONE war that we did NOT start -- just like today. And I suppose that you also think that Herbert Hoover caused the Great Depression? All of Obama's 'miracle ideas' have been tried before, and they have failed! Herbert Hoover didn't cause the great depression. He just did the same thing as bush. Laissez-faire attitude. And this isnt one war, its two. Bush started a war in iraq for his own reasons, the war in Afghanistan is the one that bush shouldve been acting on. Obamas action are nearly identical to the new deal. And the new deal was a major success. You do not considering water boarding to be torture, while the rest of the world does? Let me water board you! Then you have the capcity to talk.

I'm a military member myself, and I was proud to serve under Bush who fought ONE war. Maybe you forgot that we are fighting a war against Islamic terrorism. Radical muslims don't just live in Afghanistan. And I would have water-boarded every muslim in the world if it meant that the terrorist attacks on 9/11/01 would have never happened.

You are helping me out on my point here. We are supposed to be killing islamic radicals, iraq had zero to do with that. This is two wars, ill agree that it SHOULD be one, but it isn't. If were supposed to be the good guys, how do we look the part, when we are conducting ourselves like the enemy? its unbecoming. As far as the new deal goes, it was successful in stopping a total and complete economic shutdown. Id say some things started to slip as war approached, but that should be expected.

Thankfully Obama is ending a war (actually 0bama is NOT ending the war, he is continuing the same plan that Bush had, 0bama is leaving 50,000 or 1/3 of the troops and is only doing that after 19 months) (and he is moving 17,000 back to Afghanistan) that only ended up killing a dictator (and thousands of Thugs that took over) , and 4000 Americans (actually Bush had less military die under his terms per year (per Defense Department documents))

Before he left office, Bush had plans to start troop withdrawls in June, which I believe is still in place. The difference is, he knew not to tip his hat to the enemy as to when we would be out totally. That type of announcement would just have enimies laying in wait and preparing for what they'll do the week AFTER you're gone. Much wiser to keep it on the down low.

Obama has been out of the white house more than any other president and has spent more on lavish parties when he is there. He rushed thru an emergency bill saying the sky was falling but then went on a 4 day vacation to Chicago before signing.
