  • This has got my vote for the best hoax ever.

  • Scratch that: read disclaimers, the american public are just sheep and nothing has changed since!

  • psychological attack on the American public ...can't help but think it's much more subtle nowadays...though the few of us who think for ourselves see the truth.

  • Your channel provides just the BEST of possibly everything I ever want to find here on YOUTUBE.

    Great job Michael!!

    Rita

  • In 1980 mount St. Helen erupted and believe it or not, Americans living there and surrounding areas once again thought it was the end of the world. Many went so fat as selling their houses, cars, etc. for almost nothing. To this day I wonder why they sold their stuff if it was the end of the world. Some people never learn or it was a combination of greed and panic.

  • there was a yv movie based on this that I would love to see with John Ritter and Eileen Brennan, are you aware of it?

  • hey can you upload the night that panicked america from 1975 if you can

  • It sounds as it was true

  • Interesting. You young people have to understand that newspapers and newscasts were what the American people believed in. Most didn't question a written story. We thought if it was written or spoken of over the air waves that no one would lie to us. No internet of course. Most people never looked anything up or questioned it. Especially the government. They were supposed to be honorable people! I babysat in 1968 for 25 cents an hour and that was good wages! Thanks hwy for sharing. :)

  • "Intelligence, Logic and Reason" er you are talking about the American public I assume?

  • I'm looking to hear the actual radio recording of that night where Aliens attacked America, that day where all of the USA was in Panic cause of some Joke on the Radio.

Could anyone link me to a video that has that? Or maybe a Website? It would be much appreciated.

Also, if you wanna see more Retroperspective, then watch the movie "Teenagers from outerspace" it's a extremely low-budget movie, but the retro-ness gives you a good laugh xD But besides it being low-budget, it's nicely constructed.

  • @DHGameStudios Do you mean "The War of The Worlds?" Just do a search on my channel for that title :) -Michael

  • @hwy61media Yea thanks, I figured it out meanwhile though, but thankyou :P

  • go to youtube and type in the war of the worlds radio broadcast 1938. you should find there.

  • @themoses1973 I already figured it out, but thanks :P

  • @DHGameStudios It wasn't meant as a joke but a play. And do you know you're capitalizing in the middle of a sentence? No offense but didn't your teachers explain that to you? Period at the end of a sentence and all that. You've got to get it right or the papers you turn in aren't going to get good grades. :) I'm almost afraid to watch that movie if you like it. lol No offense young person. I just want you to write better. It's difficult to read otherwise. Salute. :)

  • @DHGameStudios The Mercury Theater of the Air has a website with steaming audio of all their broadcasts.

  • @soulierinvestments Ah, thanks mate, but I've got it. :P

  • War of the Worlds was a test by the Illuminati to see how people would react to news of an alien invasion. Beware of a coming false flag operation to lure the world into forming a one world government.

  • @unclebob100 I heard that 2 years later a study/report on the event was sent to Rockefeller.

  • @lonenut740 wouldn't surprise me.

  • @digitalmook feb.27,2010

    thanx for the answer...

    ...tom

  • Great upload, thanks for the trip down memory lane. The 1975 color remake is also online as "The Night That Panicked America", also a good retrospective.

  • Thank you :)

  • I remember a t.v.movie in the 1970's.

    same premise.

does any body know the title?

    thanx...

    ...tom

  • Thaqnk you for uploading this..I enjoyed it very much!

  • I was the one who requested it!

  • Yes you were Peter. Good work!

  • lol. thanks Michael! your vids bring back the early years of television and movies! :)

P.S- I uploaded some WWII era newsreels to my channel. Have a look at them sometime!

  • You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

  • Originally aired on September 9, 1957, LIVE {Monday, 10pm(et), right after "RICHARD DIAMOND, PRIVATE DETECTIVE", the summer replacement for "DECEMBER BRIDE"}. Some of the "recreations" of the original 1938 "Mercury Theater" broadcast, however, are a bit exaggerated...

  • I've read that the resulting panic may have been a bit exaggerated by the media at the time also. There seems to be some debate over that.

  • This is almost to good to be true!THE best show Wells ever did! I read this book and at the time it seemed so scary I had to sleep with my sister!Thank you for uploading!

  • You're welcome. I like this documentary a lot. Speaking of Orson Welles, sometime in the future I will get around to posting "The Stranger" on hwy61movies. I had it up on my old channel and thought it was quite good.
