Dependancy - No you can't become dependent on marijuana. You can become psychologically addicted to it. But anything can be psychologically addictive, such as playing with your hair or chewing your nail's.

Depression - Nope, Marijuana does not alter your happiness level after i'd say about 10+ hour's after sobering up. In fact, after smoking marijuana, the next day I will be feeling happier then normal. It's actually a way of relaxing.
