  • The F-35 is a waste. You can't have one bird do it all. It just doesn't work that way. The F-22 would wreck the F-35. Just my thoughts as an Ordnance Technician. The A-6 could carry some bombs like there was no tomorrow. Just my opinion.

  • Outdated - The Royal Navy will get the F-35C, not the STOVL version (B).

  • Dream on, Britannia.

  • the best of the video is the music! ... the world didn't need big war nations!

@all military/war nations: get out of your total mass and listen music!

  • hmm if the gov can't afford to equip our boys properly, can't afford to pay full pensions and throw people off sick benefit 2 days after they had major brain surgery cos they can't afford his benefits where the f*ck are they getting the money to buy that carrier ?

  • @bondsan Before building ships of this size, it takes years of planning & coordination of new weapons systems! To do this the UK government has to produce financial aid for this to be done! Once the decision is made to build, then finances are accrued so as to pay for the ships to be built. The monies is already there! Example: u ask me to build a house, I ask that u pay a deposit/full amount> Because it is a defence matter, from another country, I ask u to pay the full amount before delivery!

  • WELL IM GONNA PISS ON YOUR NEW AIRCRAFT CARRIER WHEN THE GEN. R FORD CLASS SUPERCARRIER WILL APPEAR ON THE SCENE!!!!!!!!!

  • @deathsaurer123 theres hardly much difference between the two, and looking at the stats for both ships, The Queen Elizabeth is better advanced than the Gerald Ford in some categories and vise versa. We should be thinking how both our navys will be the worlds strongest when togather. Not whos carrier "PISSES" on whos.

  • @MrDeano324 WELL YES EVEN THOUGH THE QUEEN ELIZABETH CLASS IS JUST ADVANCED A LITTLE BIT (WHICH I DOUBT) THE ELIZABETH WILL BE OUTNUMBERED BY THE FORDS BUT I AGREE ON YOUR SUGGESTION

  • @deathsaurer123 The "Fords" need to outnumber our QE Class as they are inferior in most respect, both technologically & scientifically. You doubt something but u r ignorant on the technological aspects that goes into design, development, finance & co-ordination of various engineering, scientific & military aspects. The US will be copying our systems in the near future to bring the "Ford" class into the 21st century!

  • @ericartwo1 well fuck off the queen enjoys the domination of the seas over the past medieval years but why do the queens mighty navy is defeated in the american revolution?the queen must need to accept the new queen of the seas(usa) and stop building her wannabe and pathetic carriers with american f-35s on it. well our unmanned uav will destroy your scrappy carrier designs and blow it to the sea you ignorant, little, fool

  • @deathsaurer123 Fleet Air Arm has won more Air to Air victories than USN since WW2. US is ruler of the seas no doubt but all the innovations of carriers; angled deck cats and traps etc are from UK. Sadly my government no longer values it's science, innovation or military any more just the welfare state and votes. I hope the US does not go the same way.

  • a pound to a bag `o shite that these fine ships will never sail. labour ordered them knowing very well we simply cannot afford them; in any event there won`t be a credible air wing for them,i mean if we cannot afford the harrier force, what chance for the f35? mr blair et al, thank you so much for totally screwing our ability to defend our shores & allowing our country to be `invaded` without any of us being consulted.

  • @harrier21 Yes totally agree with you there, cannot understand the reasoning behing scrapping the Ark and the Harrier fleet, RAF lobbying to save Tornado? Think the reason the QE class are now to be built with cats etc is to make them more tempting to a buyer. Sharkey Ward reckons that only the Harrier can operate in Falklands waters due to the sea state there. The Harrier story is like the attitude of UK gov to its defence industry, never appreciate how good it was and never invested in it.

  • @shredjoe1, Aint that the truth!

  • Does the Royal Navy make port calls in the States?

  • @IchiSausage yes

  • @IchiSausage Yes! They do and quite often!

  • Contracts have been exchanged between the Ministry of Defence and the consortium. Cammell-Laird has started work which was announced on BBC News!

The finance is already there and allocated!

  • these new carriers will greatly increase Britains ability to project power on a truly global scale for the forseeable future, and will further secure the royal navys place as the second most dominant navy within NATO if not the world.

  • The RN's carriers may well need the CATOBAR, for operations in the South Atlantic region (future oil rig platforms) assets shall need too be monitor for-time-to-time.

  • 脱肛に見えるんだけど。考えすぎかな。機体はかっこいいと思う。

  • '

nice royal navy on this video,,,

dont let china and ussr russia copys steals from this UK defense

  • @bestamerica The Royal Navy work very closely with the US Navy and compliment each other. I worked in the Defence Industry and we work in close cooperation on many defence matters such as the development of F35 fighter which will be superior to any existing or future fighter for the foreseeable future!

  • ericartwo1,

    '

    thank explain,,,

yes america and england are the best closer friendship and helping each other about defense

  • i cant wait to see photos of the Royal Navy's new carriers with our Carriers.

  • lol in 2014 we dont excist anymore

  • The Royal Navy really should get the Nimitz class carriers, maybe the Steam catapults should be replaced and the Gay sea-king should have retired ages ago, its time for the Merlin to take over from the sea King, the F-18 & F-22 raptors along with the X-35 should be used on the Carriers if the Royal Navy did actually buy a Nimitz class ship, good video, does anybody know when the X-35 is going to enter service, or when the Carriers are going to be built by>

  • @HMSDaring1 They should be ready by 2016/2018. the sea king is being retired except for a radar version. the carriers have been equiped for catapults there just not being built with them as the f-35 should be stovl capable.

  • @HMSDaring1 It is unlikely that they will be built due to the current financial crisis.

  • @ericartwo1

They have already started building one I believe? What I know is fact is that both have been paid for in full. The Labour government were toying with the idea of selling one and France even offered us their carrier as they wish to promote the European arms industry. The offer was turned down in the end. They will be built...the question is...when?

  • @29Gixxer Thanks for the information above. I have seen somewhere, the completed bow of the Queen Elizabeth Two on YouTube being transported on a raft like ship but cannot find it at the moment. Been away from PC and when I came back, found it had crashed and I have spent time doing recovery work!

  • @29Gixxer Go to "Appledore Shipyard Babcock Marine EIIR"

  • all movies all the time online Latest release Movies -dot^com

  • Which will it be B's C's or a bit of both?

Ive just realised that this is the only planet with beer on.

So looking after it is imperatively imperative, hick!!

  • Your Queen Elizabeth Class carrier movie is not as popular as my movie about that ship (Mine gets 18 views a day, yours gets 12). However, I have to admit yours is better. Congratulations.

  • wow

  • I can't believe they chose the STOVL design, making the QE nothing more than just another Harrier-carrier!

  • There's no "just" about the QE class. At half the cost and 40% the running cost it can undertake almost as many sorties as a Nimitz class carrier.

  • Does it have AEW and tankers?

  • The Royal Navy has 13 SeaKing helicopters modified for AEW duties. No aerial refueling though.

  • Helo-bourne AEW is in no circumstance a match for fixed-wing.

  • True, which would explain the RNs focus on long range search radars.

  • It's just a shame the RN didn't go for a CATOBAR version. An aircraft carrier is only as good as its air arm. :(

  • True, on the other hand, operating a CATOBAR is rather more expensive than a STOVL carrier. Ad to that the fact that the RN has very little in service CAT experience left and it becomes clear why they chose STOVL.

  • I understand. Catapults and arresting gear are complex and expensive and need constant servicing. I think it might also have something to do with keeping the F-35B development alive - with a CATOBAR carrier they could've just gotten the F-35C.

  • Still even a smaller CATOBAR (like the CDG), or a hybrid design (maybe an upgrade option later on?) would've given better power projection capability than a huge STOVL. Fighters could've carried more fuel and ordnance, which would't have to be dumped before landing if unused.

  • As far as I'm aware, the ski jump is designed so that it can be removed fairly easily and the deck has a layout that allows for an angled landing strip. Also, like the Harriers currently used by the RAF, the F35 is powerful enough to perform a vertical landing with a full combat load.

  • I haven't been able to confirm this, but it looks like they may use a modified V-22 Osprey to get fixed-wing AWACS and possibly In-Flight Refuelling.

  • Hmm... The V-22 could indeed serve a good platform for an AEW with STOVL capability. The service ceiling is ~8km, while the Sea King can fly only as high as 3km. For comparison the Hawkeye has a service ceiling of 9km.

The only worry is the development costs for such systems. They shouldn't reach, let alone exceed, costs of CATOBAR+more capable off-the-shelf carrier-bourne AEW (Hawkeye)

  • Well, once the V-22 is ready for production, converting it to other duties shouldn't be too hard given its comparatively high payload.

  • On the other hand, if Boeing were to develop EV-22/KV-22s, it would have an open market for them in all the countries that operate light STOVL carriers :)

  • The E-2D actually costs $12 million more than a V-22. Of course, the V-22 doesn't all the fancy electronics, but you can get a lot of electronics for $12 million. :D

  • The falklands will always either be british or independant, get over it

  • What are your new carriers like? lol

  • big

  • ARA Veinticinco De Mayo was decommissioned in 1990. Its air arm consisted of only Skyhawks and Etendards
