Nice burnout. Line locks have nothing to do with the transmission. It is a solenoid that is placed between the master cylinder and the caliper/wheel cylinder that holds brake pressure in the system to keep the brakes applied. You are thinking of a trans brake. A trans brake puts the trans in 1st and reverse at the same time causing it to "lock up". If he is doing a burnout with the trans brake on its time to tare the trans apart and replace some parts.
