  • Did you hook the camera upto the Master Lo-Fi effect at the start? ;)

  • @adriansmithmusic ha yeah I goofed the first part up, that is hi-8 digital tape fast forwarding, should of deleted that part before posting the vid. Don't have that camera anymore, was a cool cam, miss it.

  • @zamisers7k

Have an old handycam here that uses the same format.

Bit awkward to use these days though, and the battery lasts 5 mins! Must get it replaced.

  • sorry man, I did not understand how to connect the cables!

I have this compressor and the Mackie mixer with inserts:

Channel 1 - kick with insert channel 1 DBX to compress

Channel 2 - bass line without insert

where does the cable Sidechain insert in the hole? direct out from the bass line and have the sum with the sidechain channel dbx 1?

    Thanks for the help

  • Been a while since I did... might help if you can leave the mixer out of the equation at first. Confusion may be that the kick/snare doing actual pumping on Trk1 & 5 can't be heard, I've duplicated them on to another track on the RS700 and that is whats being heard sent to mixer, I think. To do via mixer I think you'd still need Bass ducked on DBX before it gets to the mixer, Kick on Ch1 could come out of mixer from Aux FX sends to DBX Sidechain, Bass to DBX input out as ducked signal to mixer.

  • Napolean ...don't be jealous that I was texting hot babes !!

  • RS Soldiers... STAND UP!!!

    da relic

  • So, whats the dbx actually doing?

  • Its doing the ducking with its side chain input. You'll hear it doing its thing on the bass synth when I punch in the kicks and snares that are routed to it. I think track 1 & 5 are routed to dbx side and track 9 bass synth if I remember right is being ducked. Hope that makes some more sense? Is a bit tricky to follow.

  • i rhink i understan now, nice. how much did u pay for the dbx?

  • $162.66 /w tax new from Guitar Center.

  • What is ducking? I think I understand sidechaining.

  • Ducking is an effect commonly used in radio and pop music, especially dance music. It is an effect where the level of one signal is reduced by the presence of another signal, through the use of side chain compression. - Wikipedia

  • I thought that was what sidechaining was. So ducking is what you get when sidechaining then, right?

  • Yeah pretty much, you have to sidechain to do it. Sidechain don't necessarly mean your ducking a signal I think, there are some other processes at work too. Gain Thresholds, maybe some Gate timing and Compression etc. too. There are other uses for sidechaining, prob its main purpose is for illimating line noises and hums when there is no signal/nothing playing and it supposed to be quiet. Sure prob some other uses too.
