@EntomologyPurdue Of course. So would you. Jail is a pretty intense place, man. Don't tell me you're one of those ignorant pricks who think you're just all high and mighty.
what a brilliant idea! kills two birds with one stone. The greyhounds get saved and socialised and also the inmates have something to care for and take responsibility for...shoudl do that here in the Uk, we have so many abandonded greyhounds and other dogs here...
this is such an incredible opportunity for both the retirees and the inmates of the prison(s)... so many dogs get unnecessarily disposed of after racing - this helps socialize the animals before finding forever homes... and like one of the inmates says, "it gives us a sense of responsibility"... fantastic for everyone involved!
Wish I could see more of these programs in other jails and prisons. Probably could also help troubled teens, old folks homes, and rehabilitation centers. Would be a great use of all our tax money.
@malee74 I met a woman with a golden lab on a train to london once, we got chatting and she said she worked in an old folks home and her lab went with her everyday. Apparently the old folks really came out of their shells when the dog was there.
I wish programs like this would grow by leaps and bounds so no animals are euthanized because they do not have homes. These programs are a WIN WIN for animal, inmate, guards, society and for the world.
What a great idea, letting the inmates work with the rescued greyhounds! My son has two greyhounds and I'm so impressed by their genuine, expressive, cooperative, and friendly dispositions. A perfect win-win for rescued dogs, for the caregivers, and for the people who adopt.
Awesome idea! Adopting 2 greyhounds myself, my hat goes off to the instagator of this fine idea and the respective prison system stepping up to employ such a program. Appears to be a win - win situation for both transitioning women and the "womans" best friend!!
this is good because just because prisoners don't get a second chance sometimes doesn't mean dogs can't have a second chance.
