I will admit that Whitney AND Mariah are at 200 million, but I will not disrespect Whitney by saying she's only at 170 million when she's much higher than that by now. I think Celine and Madonna are the best-selling female artists now (not Whitney or Mariah). Celine definitely has come roaring back and has had great success, especially when Whitney and Mariah were not putting records out. Madonna has made a comeback as well.

@kbarre928: I did. Mariah has only won 5 Grammy's (she was nominated for 32) compared to Whitney's 6. She won a couple of AMAs (American Music Awards) and WMAs (World Music Awards) but Whitney, Beyonce, Michael Jackson, and a few others have already won more. In fact, Beyonce won more Grammy's than Mariah in one single year (she won about 10 in 2010, Taylor Swift won 13). Unfortuantely, MC hasn't racked up enough awards to make her unsurpassable. Whitney, having won 416 awards, pretty much has.

I'm sorry, but I think that she HAD one of the most incredible voices ever. Before, she had a lot of ''soul'' and her vocals were really powerful and strong, with a unique range and technique, and she was very simple and humble. Now, she just lip-sings all of her songs and she just cares about her image. In this video, you can see that. I think she's not lip-singing here, but her voice is dry, and ''they'' don't seem to be the same person singing the same song.
Personally, I've always found Whitney's voice a bit bland. Yes, it's powerful but there's not versatility to it imo. What I love about Mariah's voice is how many different tones and textures she has to it.

She won a couple of AMAs (American Music Awards) and WMAs (World Music Awards) but Whitney, Beyonce, Michael Jackson, and a few others have already won more. In fact, Beyonce won more Grammy's than Mariah in one single year (she won about 10 in 2010, Taylor Swift won 13). Unfortuantely, MC hasn't racked up enough awards to make her unsurpassable. Whitney, having won 416 awards, pretty much has.

Whitney's last album debuted at No. 1; Mariah's didn't break the Top 10! A more valid argument would be that Whitney is a better singer, which she is in some ways. It's harder to argue that Whitney's a better artist because Mariah has better music, which she writes and produces herself. She's directed some of her music videos as well. She's more involved in her career, and yet has been as prolific as Whitney where sales are concerned. Along with Whitney, she influenced a generation of singers with her melisma and helped create the pop/hip hop genre.

As for Mariah's Christmas album, if it didn't go to #1, then bragging rights don't mean that much. trust me, Whitney will come back, and come back strong, like she's done many times over the past decade. She's just not one of those artists that like to put out albums of old recycled music every year (i.e. Mariah Carey). But trust me, she's coming back, so watch out all you wannabe divas!

rulzah85: Oh, I disagree. Whitney is still going places. The whole reason she released the album in 2009 is because of a mass writing campaign to her record label asking tehm to bring her back. You can't have that kind of demand if people don't like you, and if people like you, then you'll always have a place in the music industry.

I'm sorry, but I think that she HAD one of the most incredible voices ever. Before, she had a lot of ''soul'' and her vocals were really powerful and strong, with a unique range and technique, and she was very simple and humble. Now, she just lip-sings all of her songs and she just cares about her image. In this video, you can see that. I think she's not lip-singing here, but her voice is dry, and ''they'' don't seem to be the same person singing the same song.

Personally, I've always found Whitney's voice a bit bland. Yes, it's powerful but there's not versatility to it imo. What I love about Mariah's voice is how many different tones and textures she has to it.

Mariah is in everyway better then Whitney, her voice tone and artisty, she can belt higher and in emotions / musixbox era also with more resonace and power then whitney! own lyrics, own vocal style 20 years.
