Carter/Benton relationship = the BEST on ER. Wish they'd had a last special moment together, but even still, they were the most consistent "couple" ever on this show, along with Ross/Hathaway. :)

This is- by far- one of the best scenes in all of ER's 15 years. The Carter/Benton relationship was one of the best relationships the show ever had. I really wanted something like this scene for the two of them in last night's series finale... like Carter saying to Benton, "none of this would have ever been possible if you hadn't spent all those years teaching me."

Of course they love each other but Benton will never express it how Carter would like. Benton only left his job for Reese, who is the cutest kid ever)

Also tockita, as far as I know that was never an actual episode, it was just a story that apparently would have happened.

Benton expresses his love for Carter, but quietly. It's easy for Carter, who cries and loves freely. But Benton is used to taking care of himself and supressing his emotions. When Benton freaks out when Carter was stabbed it really showed the viewer that Benton had priorities and emotions.

Carter totally loves Benton. And Benton loves Carter. I think in a non direct way this is how House/Wilson are. House loves Wilson but won't show it. And Carter and Wilson kind of look alike, but House and Benton don't have a physical likness as so much an emotional one.
