There has been a lot of great bands in the history of pop/rock music, but Joy Division were something extraordinary. Something sets them apart from all the other bands I like, but I can't explain what it is, and I feel almost like it might be dangerous to get too close to it. There's something....numinous about Joy Division, that's the best word I can find to describe it.

My favorite JD song. This album touches very close to home. In 1994 I attempted to drink myself to death, and just played Unknown Pleasures over and over the entire time. I woke up in the hospital 2 days later. I wasn't able to listen to this album again until 2 years ago. I reconnected with it and I can listen to this on my Ipod while walking around on a beautiful Summer's day. Very strange the effect that music can have on you.
