I think it's a great version, and I'm sure I'll get all kinds of crap for this, but it would have been nice if the guys from Cake had read the lyrics instead of singing what they thought the lyrics were. "Hand of God has struck the hour" is much more powerful than "And as God has struck the hour."

I was obsessed with Sabbath for a good 4-5 years in middle/high school. I used to blast War Pigs nonstop in my room on my boombox lol. I have to say though, I came across this song one day on Pandora, and I actually prefer this to Sabbath's original version. It's the way Sabbath's should have been in a way. They took it and gave it a groove with that bass line. Cake's one of my new favorite bands..
In regards to this song, which one you prefer is up to your preference in music. As a personal opinion I found that Sabbath dragged the song on a little to long with no real changes which cake rectified with the HUH! in between. So I'd have to say I prefer this version. I still love sabbath and any and all covers. As for this video, I'm surprised that more people didn't dislike it due to the very opinionated (if not somewhat honest) view of the military. Just a thought. Don't go postal.

In my experience the guys in the fighting do everything they can to bring em back home. Of course,they're also the ones referred to as the poor in the song.

I think it's a great version, and I'm sure I'll get all kinds of crap for this, but it would have been nice if the guys from Cake had read the lyrics instead of singing what they thought the lyrics were. "Hand of God has struck the hour" is much more powerful than "And as God has struck the hour."

I mentioned War Pigs to a friend, and they replied "Oh, that's a great Cake song." They had no clue it was by Sabbath. It's a shame, and they way the title portrays it as a "New song!" makes it seem like it's Cake's.

I was obsessed with Sabbath for a good 4-5 years in middle/high school. I used to blast War Pigs nonstop in my room on my boombox lol. I have to say though, I came across this song one day on Pandora, and I actually prefer this to Sabbath's original version. It's the way Sabbath's should have been in a way. They took it and gave it a groove with that bass line. Cake's one of my new favorite bands..

In regards to this song, which one you prefer is up to your preference in music. As a personal opinion I found that Sabbath dragged the song on a little to long with no real changes which cake rectified with the HUH! in between. So I'd have to say I prefer this version. I still love sabbath and any and all covers. As for this video, I'm surprised that more people didn't dislike it due to the very opinionated (if not somewhat honest) view of the military. Just a thought. Don't go postal.

@YourDeathAtAllCost I wouldn't say it's a view of the military. More like a view of a politcian type known as a warhawk. It's easy to declare war on someone when you aren't doing the fighting. In my experience the guys in the fighting do everything they can to bring em back home. Of course,they're also the ones referred to as the poor in the song.

I like both this version of Black Sabbath's. When it comes to this song, I prefer Black Sabbath, though I enjoy Cake more as a whole.
