I'm now 15 and my family has moved to Georgia. We found another church, and just a few weeks ago, one of the worship team singers sung this. I just about cried. I just HAD to look it up. I went into a Christian book store to buy 'this' CD. They told me they didn't carry it because Ray Boltz had come out and said he was gay. My heart sank, I ask...does that make the message any different, does it make the song no longer beautiful. Why must we be so judgemental, can't we just enjoy the words, the music, and make our own mind up if it's right for us to hear this? It's their right not to carry the CD, just a little venting on my part. I just love this song, it's a special song.
You can go online and purchase any of his cd's or just one song. I don't see how they can legally restrict the selling of his cds, but how sad for them. I just know I do not want to stand before Jesus and try to explain why I turned my back on my brother.

I was very disappointed in a woman's reply at a Christian Bookstre when I wanted to purchase a CD of Ray Boltz. She said they wouldn't carry his music because he is gay.I told her that since he accepted Christ he more than likely turned away from his sin. It's been 9 years, but not one single day goes by that I don't miss him. My mom found so much strength in this song. When I hear it, I cry, because I think of the hell my family went through, yet I remember God's been merciful & He's brought us through the darkest black pits of grief & utter despair. There are still really hard days, but God is gracious.

Hello, Yes in the old testament there are noted occasions where "psycics" were called upon by some ...However ...Saul lost his soul over seeking answers from such and it is an abomination to God....Becasue they were looking to someone other then the OnlyTRUE God!!! God tells us to stay away from those that talk with or to seducing sprits....Has nothing to do with the planting or fishing times like the farmers almanac. Hope that answers your question.

@Drandarith Actually King Saul lost his soul by disobeying God, God lifted his Spirit off of King Saul because King Saul disobeyed him, after that is when he went to a woman who had familiar spirits and talked to demons that people think are dead people. And yes talking to the dead ( evil spirits) is an abomination and in those times they were to be killed, Jesus came for all to be saved and free from sin...

I have always loved all of Ray Boltz's songs, as most of the words relates to our daily lifes, and it gives us strength and peace, by just listening to him singing... love it so much. thanks for sharing....

He didn't write the song. It was written by Lawrence Chewning. Lawrence and his wife did lose a child at 14 weeks gestation and were able to hold him, so maybe that is what he was referring to.

Wow! What a video clip. What a thought! I've often prayed that God's anchor (in me) WILL hold 'cause I feel my "vessel" is pretty shabby and I fear the storms that come. Such a beautiful rendition and affirmation.

i love this song so much it was sang at my 21 years old cousin's funeral kby my dad! and he was living a great life til he was riding in the car with some drunk friends and they all died except the driver...and it was amazing he had just asked jesus christ to come into his heart a couple nights before tht happened i loved him so much and he slippped right from underneath us

This song is very inspiring & encouraging. Ray Boltz has many more inspiring songs. I have been listening to his music for at least 10 years & saw him in concert. I am not a great singer, but, decided to sing this song in church & since then, I sing it very often. Singing this song has helped me through some very traumatic times in my life & it will help you too. Please learn the words & sing your heart out!!!

This song the anchor holds has a meaning behind it. Your the ship in battle your bettered from sin but you can keep your anchor holding you heart holding on to God. We sin and we do bad things but you can be forgiven. This song was sang by my brother at my uncle David's funeral may he rest in peace it was beautiful and as we all have done in his younger years he sined a great deal this song was perfect and very beautiful. It means alot to me.
