  • One interesting thing with this interactive aspect is that everything gets stored. So I can watch this video years after it was made, and it will still have a reaction upon me even though I can't do anything to change the video. So instead of throwing a pebble into the water, the ripples come from a steady stream of water, never-ending ripples, never-ending changes. And there's always new life coming into these old videos, new people watching every day. Fascinating...

  • God i still LOVE the dramatic head turn. over a year later. lol kids.

  • congrats u all... but, i think u shouldn´t repeat the words "on the news" and talk more about the project, for me, it would be more insteresting.. but, everyone have a particular taste..

  • what

  • I'm unsure if its related or not but I've been trying to get into the collective head of.. well "us"... I actually had a dream of doing a site like this (and am currently working on it) but then discovered someone's already done it : chainofthoughts [dot] com

Gotta admit its freaky when u come up with the same ideas as others, but that looks to be exactly what the web does.

  • pssshh. at my school were already at web 3.0

  • niccccce

  • Yes I'm serious. I'm an instructional technology consultant for my school. We're in the virtual worlds.

A chemistry professor asked us if we could make him a virtual chemistry lab. haha

  • Hey are you guys into Second Life? yeah our campus itself isnt the most technologically advanced, but our class is like the littel rebel group.

  • Second Life would be interesting for your digital ethnography.

I'm actually making a documentary about religion in Second Life.

  • perhaps the class will go in that direction..unfortunately i will be post program...technically! after the semester i will still continue and develop the study (5 months is...not nearly enough) thats fantastic your doing a documentary about religion in Second life...we discussed that a bit in class! i would be interested to hear what trends you are seeing...my prof would probably be interested too, ill send him your way.

  • Personally, I find the project very interesting. Although, wesch´s class it´s enjoying their 15 minutes of fame (who can blame them). They could be making soon a reality show for mtv called "how to make you a super-scientist". How shallow and empty. Studying and mesuring impacts is one thing, but yearning for the own fame is not quite a scientific attitude and i doubt you come to some relevant scientific conclusion like this.

  • The correct word to accurately describe our reaction to fame was initially, panic. People found our blog before we really were ready! any reaction was a surprise, and unexpected/unintended! though it is thrilling, the "fame" is actually making us much more catuious and careful. As for the reality show, im sure the academic world would tear their hair out. We're hoping to come to some sort of conclusions, or at least something to launch from on other projects..

  • becky i don t know what are u talkin about but u look smart:)

  • Cool, that Web 2.0 wid he made was pretty intresting, maybe you guys will get an article in Wired or Scientic American :)

  • U know Dr Wesch?

  • I definitely do! I've taken classes from him, taught intro to cultural anthropology recitations for him, and currently am a student in his digital ethnography class. he's very up-and-coming with is research, especially on internet communities.

  • Kansas is the hotbed of web 2.0 - LOL. Were you drunk when you made this? I'm joking around. Congrats on being a part of this.
