  • @slorpthegillman Hi! please explain how you got image in wire frame transparent mode? How did you get that back perspective cause when i did it nothing happens..... HELP please Andrew

  • why not model with polygons? whats the difference?

  • yes i would also like the image planes :)

  • I never ignore the shape of the breast Andrew. Never!

  • Hey man. Great video! Question, what are your settings when you are using freeze, reset and special transformations because mine isn't coming out right?

  • Any way we could get the image planes and try to follow along?

  • Thanks a lot for this course, it helps me a lot! thanks from Argentina :D

  • 3ds max for characters or maya for chracters? which one should i use?

  • @istonereviews Everything I've read points to Maya for characters.

  • This is very helpful! Thank you!

  • I don't like these type of videos i sub!

  • @7337cod3r I don't know what that means?

  • @slorpthegillman I believe he is trying to say that he doesn't like them, he loves them soo much that he has subbed. Anyway, thanks for the tutorial. I have not been able to find any decent tutorials all day and have been getting sooo stressed out. Thanks to you I can now do 3d modelling

  • You sound like sheldon from big bang theory !!

  • @Mrgrimm9991 you did... twice

  • @slorpthegillman The first time I forgot the question mark.

  • where can one find such reference planes?

  • My favorite method for modeling to date. Thanks. Very creative solution to an age-old challenge.

  • @TheBigCollapse I like this method because it separates out the art from the tech into two separate stages, and makes it easier to tackle (i think). Also, conceptually similar to zbrush or as close as we can get in maya.

  • i cant find the right images for this...plz help

  • i find this hard to masterbate to when he creates those shapes around the body of the female

  • Is there a way to model just one side by using a mirror modifier?

  • WOW the into the first few MINUTES and this has already helped me.

  • Teach us boob physics!

  • what was the site where i get the reference?

i need it for the head, & torso both male & female!!

  • I got a boner, but learned sth. Everybody is happy.

  • how do you click on front when you geet in the four screen it doesnt work for me. i have windows

  • @jayjayshytown you move the cursor over the view port you want to enlarge & press *SPACEBAR*

    ezee!!

  • @AfterEffectsLova : aaawh fuck off , do you even have friends ? this is art not a porn ..

  • @AfterEffectsLova : haha you fucking n00b , go and play call of duty.... oh , cod is made of that sick porn

  • you are much freeer when you are tweeking your nurb?i can't move it when i click just one spot. Are you using a special setting or?

  • 9:17 looks kind of like a sad alien

  • I am a newbie to maya 3d, Just a question. can you tell me how to make a character? I see you put a female on the screen, but how do I do that? and how do I get it to split into 4 screens?

  • @AfterEffectsLova I'm 14 trying to learn this and I am more mature than to laugh at some bare breasts when I am trying to learn...

  • @GamerBoy470 aggreed. and im a year younger...

  • 11 people are homosexual.

  • tell me any one where i can get these background images tose use in modelling...

  • hey fom where can i get these blueprintss ?????

  • How do you bring in photos and what is the best way to arrange them?

  • why cant i find eny speed moddeling of somekind of monster or something!?!

  • n another question, where can i find that images??

  • hi, i have a question, im noob with maya but y want to make on your way, it is good to begin like this even if im getting started, i know how to use some tools

  • Never Mind I got it, But Thanks Again man, This was Helpful and I've only watched the first clip.

  • Cool, but 2 questions,

    1) How do you add the photos to the grid (like the Front, side, and back view)

    2) Where can you find photos like theses? is there a website? or did you just Google it?

  • @AfterEffectsLova lol.... You must be fucking retarded..

  • Thank you so much for these tutorials

  • sorry i got a question its maybe a little stupid but i does not know how it works i just wanna zoom in how i can do this i got a laptop !

  • i scanned a side and front drawing, ive been trying to be able to move to pics on the x and y axis in order to have them at 0 but dont know how ?

    help anyone ?

  • @7rafilla8 I have videos on this. Watch videos 1-4 of my airplane series.

  • @slorpthegillman buen videop oyee ddone consigo los plugind e este programa ablod emaya 2011 porfavor ayduame nesecitoese puligin que usas para aser cuerpos humanos:)

  • @7rafilla8 I voted your comment down by accident and I can't undo it. Sorry, was a total mistake. Just thought I'd let you know.

  • I know these video tutorials were posted a while ago but it would be nice if you could somehow update them with something a little more hi-rez. Your tutorials seem educational and I would like to learn from them but they are kind of hard on the eyes. If you know what I mean?

  • Thank you so much for sharing this! You are my life savior!

  • Simple and easy to follow tutorial. Love it!

  • That woman has terrible posture

  • @AfterEffectsLova This is what you call porn?

  • @slorpthegillman hahaha what a sick retard is he

  • @slorpthegillman It's anatomy -___-'

  • Nice tutorial, but I can't do it in the day time, I just could try to do it late in night because If my mom watches me trying to modeling breasts she will say that i'm a pervert freak and could send me to a psychiatrist. (I'm just 18 years old)

  • @overclockeador You need to understand the artistic tradition of working from life models

  • @slorpthegillman Actually I do understand it, but my family don't....

  • I'm a complete bewbie at maya, so far I'm learning basics. However I like waht I saw in this vid. Question what is the difference between polygons and surfaces, are surfaces more easily modified, like play dough or something?

  • @GraveRave NURBS (surfaces) are a different mathematical backbone to 3d construction that allows the user to have curved lines (isoparms) between any verticies, instead of straight lines. They are easier to make simple shapes from IMHO, but much harder to make accurate complex forms. This is why I use them for template creation and nothing more.

  • BEEEWBS

  • Thank you. Very fast and accurate way to do modeling and easy to understand for beginners like me :) Looking forward to your next Maya tutorials.

  • nice breasts

  • Can any One tell me where ; can download 3d Reference image

  • hi need some advice here. im following your tutorial. did you use one nurbs sphere to mould the neck and the traps (top shoulder) or did you use one nurbs sphere for the neck and one for the traps? cos I try using one nurbs sphere to mould the neck and the top shoulders? am i doing it wrong?

  • hi where do you get the pics of the female model. would you mind telling me where you get the pics so I can follow your unique way of modelling tutorial?

  • @FATUGLYCHINK he mentions in the video where he got the images.

  • @vash513 yeh I know I didn't listen properly on the start of the vid.

  • how can i merge this polygons together to star animate it .....(sry for bad english)

  • Comment removed

  • pretty nice tut, ive watched all 7 now, but i have some ... questions to ask:

1st. I have the new 2011 version and it looks far too different from yours. I cant locate the tools that you are using in my programm.

2nd. How did you make it, that you can edit polygons on one side, and it automatically synchronises it as symetry. I think its the most important thing to create a realistic looking body...

  • @PeterYatubo That first question isn't actually a question.. =P

You can create one half and then mirror the other half, I don't know how to do that perosnally; I just ctrl+shift+D and set some of the values to negatives

  • *fap fpa fap* I mean.. excellent work! :D

It's really confusing and intimidating when first starting out though, lmao. You make it look easy. =P

  • where can I get your reference picture? :P

  • how do you add the imeges? when i try it loads one image into a background help me please

  • dude although its a good tutorial but i don't like working on a picture , u must learn how to create a body with out needing those pictures ... !!

    then start giving tutorials..

  • @Xkiller6000X if you knew anything about these programs or the process of animation, you would know that at least 5-6 months of production is actually taken up by drawing models like these of characters, theyre neccesary to make sure you keep your model to the design. in this case, hes just using photos instead. duh.

  • @Xkiller6000X With all due respect, many professional modelers use references and blueprints, there is nothing wrong in using them. you need to have very good anatomical knowledge to model something like a body from a scratch without using any references.

  • @Tracer2k yes dude thats not what i meant , i dont like the idea of modeling on a PICTURE coz i have never used it before !, any way its a good idea !

  • how do you change your prespectives?

  • modifying nurbs is really hard I don't know how u can do it

I'll try to keep up with your videos

    thank you so much

  • worst tutorial ever....how the hell do you start with nurbs??? you start with a poly cylinder and work from there....

  • @Baldoxxx4000 I use NURBS because they have fewer verts, and when viewed in wireframe mode, there are fewer isoparms used to make a NURBS sphere then edges in a Polygon one, which makes it easier to see.

If you continue watching the series after this video, you will see that I indeed use polygons to contour around this form to make the final torso.

I have additional videos on how to work with Nurbs for more intro level users like yourself.

  • @slorpthegillman please awnser but were do you get this exact EXCAT software i can only find softimage and just maya i can't find autodesk maya cuz it says autodesk maya BUT when i get on it doesn NOT say atuodesk just says maya is this because i have 2011 of it????

  • @SheldonBlanks

    whet are saying...

do you want to download Maya 2011?? if that s line question Check out pirate bay. Its a torrent download. and it work 10o%

  • @Baldoxxx4000 Theres a tab on the top right ish that says "surfaces" that shoud bring up the nurbs I believe. You are probably in the polygon tab. But my answer may not be the best because I've only used this for a couple of days now. Therefor I'm watching this tutorial.

  • @Baldoxxx4000

Dude....this guy is an Autodesk Maya CERTIFIED instructor...he knows what he is doing.

  • i have a question

how do you make a animated video

like movies from avatar jurasic park etccc

  • ok I see how you trace over the female character but how do you import the pic into maya and trace it that's what im having trouble with.

  • keep up the good work man i love the video, i would love to see better video quality but thats it

  • I'm just learning about maya and i am kind of researching before i buy it so i can know what i'm doing, but how did you get the background photo their before starting?

  • So how do you morph the left and right at the same time?

  • @DevastatorsPissed1 Mirror the polygons.

  • good work andrew .. thank u man

  • can this work just as well with polygons?

  • Big thanks to you, I think I'll try maya it looks very good! Thanks.

  • this might sound really funny and really inappropriate and youtube viewers are going to probably put a thumbs down on this comment but: i'm making a 3d animated movie with maya and one of my characters have breasts. nothing is wrong with that, but i want them to move like regular breasts move in real life so how do i make the breasts "jiggle"? this is not a joke i am completely serious.(need i remind you that the movie is motion capture) someone please reply!

  • what is funny (and inappropriate) is that you are making a movie and don't know the difference between "animation" and "motion capture". If you are using motion capture, you AREN'T making an animated movie. Thats at least how the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences views it.

    google "jiggle deformer"

  • hey im new to maya and I want to know how to do you put in your picture reference to maya...?

  • @BmCNinJa There r 2 methods 1) is take any poly plane apply image u selected to that plane using(go to) Window>Rendering Editors>Hypershade>Create1 Lambert Texture>Apply it to plane>Then Apply the Image to that Poly Plane.Sorry this d only best lang in which i m able 2 put it.hope u understood.2)method isin side view (for eg) select go 2 View select camera >View>Image Plane>Import Image>Select d Image & say Open. Its Done! :)

  • thx i figure it out after I comented here well i had to watch another tutorial.

  • @slorpthegillman It doesn't just end at Mo-cap though, There is animation after that.

  • @fdzgzd you need contolers

  • @fdzgzd I would recommend soft bodys, i'm only starting to use them myself but they have the attributes you're looking for, look up some tutorials for them

  • @fdzgzd Look up jiggle deformers.

  • you should always work from reference, whether its your own drawing, or photos. you shouldnt just make a character from your head. mostly likely you will be guessing where you could be certain with a reference.

  • hey, what if youtube had play speed modifiers? to make video play faster or slower? great idea huh? (even though i'm not the one who created it *wiseguy, but youtube sure doesn't have it!)

    * applies only to those who voluntarily or involuntarily feel the impulsive dire need to be the wiseguy.

  • What is her name? So I can download the references from 3dsk. Thanks :)

  • what did u search to find these pictures

  • do you just need one picture or do you need to download all 3 pictures. Cause I can't find 3 image of the 3 angles

  • Thanks for making this!!!! But i was wondering how did you get those pictures in the different windows? Its kind of confusing me lol. Please help :3

  • Yes, unless you're almost perfect at anatomy.

  • It never hurts to have good drawings or photos as reference

  • Precisely.

  • Nice tutorial, it's really helpful. I started following it with no problems, but now for some reason when I select a single control vertex with the move tool, it seems to select all of them. All of the points turn from purple to shades of yellow and orange, and moving the one point results in all of them moving symetrically with it. I'm guessing I've turned some kind of option on, though I don't know what. I don't suppose you have any ideas how I can fix this, do you? Thanks =)

  • Never mind, it turns out I just had soft selection turned on.

  • Hey Andrew, I don't suppose all these steps to doing this are laid out in writing somewhere in addition to the video tutorials? Like a pdf file someplace?

  • @DryingTumbler

I know this was a long time ago, but you do that by clicking the options in each view port and go to image plane, then load image plane.

    Quite easy

  • bewbies

  • did u felt something while modelling this figure,i know i did, she`S hot

  • i've never seen anyone model like this before, but then again im just a student. i really like that idea of using the NURBS spheres to create a very fast naturally curved base. one of my bad modeling habits is throwing in to much geometry to fast then spending way to much time placing the verts properly.. but with a base like this it wouldnt take long at all to trace the verts to the nurbs base :D

  • w00t 11111th view XD

  • how do put the picture so i can only view it on the front back and side view not on the perspective view?

  • in the image plan attributes you can change this setting to only through camera from "in all views"

  • how to get this pic that have fornt back and side view

  • as far as im aware you have to manually place the reference pictures individually, its usually easiest for placement reasons to do it at the origins

    hope that helps

  • Great tutorial. love it.

  • how did you move both side on the nurb at the same time?

    please reply thank you!

  • how did you move both side at the same time?

  • This video tutorial helps me so much thanks to you for uploading this video in youtube I really really need this kinds of tutorial to help me at school because I cant catch up at maya lessons hehe my teacher will be surprised when he saw me using some tools that he didn't teach us yet ^___^ IM SO HAPPY THANK YOU SO MUCH ♥♥♥♥♥

  • the move tool

  • Don't mean to sound nit picky, but why not just dreate a model from nurbs and convert to polygons? Newbie question, I know.

  • well, that could be done as well. I like the create polygon tool because it cuts out the intermediate step. I use the nurbs spheres as a template because they are quick to deform, but I like polys for their versatility of tools.

  • can you help me with the instalation of maya or give me a serial key please?

  • No, that is illegal. Please contact an Autodesk Retail provider for a legal copy of the software, or download the personal learning edition from their site.

  • it's called Duplicate Special (option box) then add -1 (negative value) in the X axis, which should be the first box. But you can -1 on any other depending on what view your mirroring from.

  • thanks ...

i have a question ..how did u get that background picture and how did you put it in Maya ?

  • It's called Image Plane, in your viewport select View > Image plane > Import Image... Then select your image you want referenced.

  • thanks ...

i have a question ..how did u get that background picture and how did you put it in Maya ?

  • Nice......I'm going to upload this and learn to be as good as the maker!!!
