I think the reason no laws have changed as of yet is because there will be too many people opposing to that change. If you lay down a law that too many citizens disagree with, riots, attacks and rebellion start. America- along with the rest of the world- need to give citizens time to be comfortable with the idea first.
It won't be 100% successful- people still believe black people are inferior- but soon enough gay marriage will become legal.
obama is a lot of talk. amazing speech. he hasnt actually done anything really. hes given tons of speeches, supported most of the lgbt rights, and made an it gets better video. the only thing left for him to do IS TO CHANGE THE FUCKING LAWS. its just smoke and mirrors. he wants our vote. i tell u he has mine but if somebody better comes along ill be all over them
Wow I am lesbian and never knew how PFLAG started but I'm so proud of my parents.. Both my parents go to the group here .. My dad was wonderful from day one my mom is getting stronger with it .. If I could only tell my self at 12 all will work out fine and say even say mom is great too I am not sure I belive it tho.. I am so happy how fair we have come not just my family but the people.. we do need more help out tho we need to stop hate and have more love..
@Masteroiece Would walking down the street and seeing two men or women holding hands and being happy affect your day? Would it bother you, knowing that two men or women were in love and enjoy being together? Are you happy not supporting a completely correct love between two people, who just happen to be the same sex? How would it even affect you? It shouldn't matter what you do in bed, love is love.
President Obama's heart is in the right place. We need to keep pressure on the media, senate, house, and local politicians to support us. We the people must pressure our government at all levels. The media must be corrected when they promote anti-gay lies.
It's not enough to elect one president. We must return to the polls every year to elect and re-elect our supporters at every level. 2010 will determine which way America will lean for the next decade.
You're back on my good side sir! Now we just have to get rid of the ! My Gay freind was discharged for who he was after earning two purple hearts in Iraq. The British let them serve openly and their military is almost as superior as ours. Redicuous!
I, too, have great respect, love & awe for President Obama. But it is always "shadowed" by the fact that so many hundreds of brave men & women have been discharged from the military just because they are gay.
What is the point of having young men & women DIE for OUR country, only to find that they are discriminated against in the very country they are fighting for.
Until Congress repeals this law, he MUST take action to cease & desist pursuing further discharges & ruining more lives.
