FFXIII vs FF versus XIII Gameplay Comparison/Analysis

Can't stand people who always go on about how "terrible' XIII was... I understand it might not be everybodies taste but that doesn't mean your opinion is right. Best Final Fantasy in my opinon. It's also quite funny how some people say that the mythology and overall story of XIII was 'boring' yet they say Versus will be different :/ oh well... can't wait for versus to be released anyway, looking forward to the story the most :)

@zexionisawsome I would just like to state that if you say that ffxIII was not as bad as people say, then explain why its one of the cheapest final fantasy in stores? I find ps3 and xbox versions for $15 new. The game failed and you may like it but your are the minority. These are facts and you just have to accept them. The only good part about ffxIII was chapter 11 fighting the giant beasts. Upgrading was horrible. You had to wait till the game let you get higher in the grid. LAME.

@CamelToesRule Well maybe because it is'nt exactly a new game now... you can buy FF7 for $2 now if thats what you were trying to prove... and people who like 13 are not the minority... there are probably more people who like it than dislike it, it's just because dislikers tend to be 'hardcore FF fans' who are incredibly shortsighted and can't accept change. They also tend to be more vocal on the internet which is why you probably see more dislikers. Bringing me back to why I can't stand them...

Meh,i think that game was the best in this series.It shouldve gotten a ps3 game tied to it.Actually most ps2 games should be ported to the ps3 or at least a sequel or remake because people should pay 300 dollars for something that doesnt even have backwards compatibility in the first place.

@tubamilk1 I do have to admit. FFXII was great. I didnt necessarily enjoy the story line so much but the gameplay was great and the battle system was one of my favorites.

FF VS is going to out do 13-2. But both can not compete against its western counterparts, aka MASS EFFECT 3!!!! Maaayybe VS can, I don't know yet because I don't know much about its gameplay and plot other than what's being shown. And what's being shown isn't a lot compared to 13-2. I can say for sure 13-2 will be at the bottom of RPGs in 2012/2011. The new Tales games even looker better than 13-2.

i'd also like to add how dynamic the battle is in versus as well. they took KH's battle system to the next level and allowing you to use the surroundings to your advantage it seems. (the dude with the gun shot something to make and explosion on the dragon thing.) with a battle system like that alone i MIGHT just MIGHT accpet it the story is linar like 13, which i doubt they would ever do again lol

the top dogs are working on versus. and 13 fell short of all other FF in the series, no way in hell it'll win against versus.

battle system: FF13 has a shallow battle system, versus is taking a page from KH. it's wrong to judge this since they are to diffrent types of systems but still, the realtime combat will own, you can even take control of mechs lol.

story: ????

looks: versus beats 13. but not by much.

music: ??? but GOD i wish Nobou had a hand in it.

It may have raised them a little money but I am almost certain that ff versus will create one of the biggest revenues ever if done right with special editions and bonuses. This game has been highly anticipated for the last 6 years and has not lost any hype.

@CamelToesRule not only that, but due to versus not getting done, KH3 ended up getting stonewalled as well. that's another game that could make their pockets explode with cash. i swear if they put this freakin game on hold to make a freaking FF13-3 i'll maill square a bomb>_>.

Where did you download all the different scenes for FFX III Versus?

I only found like certain ones, however I didn't find many video trailers. I only found the usual trailers. Is there a site that lets you download like different scenes for FFX III Versus?

i thought FF13 battle system was good, a bit too fast for my taste and the ally AI was really stupid too, they'd stand in the worst places during battle only to get hit lol

Video isn't that indicative as they don't show what buttons are being pressed. In XIII all you do is tap x and occassionally l1 to paradigm shift but it looks more involving in video. In Versus you move around actively during battles, there's no seperate phony transition to a fabricated battle level. And there's a huge variety of weapons and actions making it a lot more interesting than XIII where it doesn't matter what the weapons are as you just watch the battles.

@valleyshrew While i agree that the video doesn't go too in-depth with each of the different gameplay styles that are shown, know that that's only because this is some of the first full gameplay footage that has been released and the main goal with the newest trailer was to give us an idea of how the game will play differently from XIII.

This video itself was a comparison between how the games play (visual) as opposed to how they will actually play (technically and hands on).
