Shayne has a good voice, but he lacks star appeal. That´s why he´s not chosen.
I don´t think koreans are racist, because so many have called for him and you can clearly see that his mentor is supporting him! Just look at the comments and fans in the audience.
Even if Shayne can´t win this competition, he can still be chosen by any company. He´ll receive vocal training, dancing courses and of course some language courses. : ) You´ll see,if it´s his destiny,we´ll see him again!
Sorry to say, but publicized talent competition with major stakeholders such as these are never 100% fair. MBC planned from the start to have a Korean winner, but as I said in a previous video, they needed to advance a foreigner to shield against accusations of racial discrimination (look at their channel comments; they always use Shayne to counter "Korean-favoring" accusations). When they saw how popular Shayne was, they chose him to pass until just before the end. Heh, he never had a chance.
=__= His singing is good (and definitely above average as a hobby), but not spectacular. Also, there's something about his timbre and pitch that just doesn't sit right with me. I would've understood him passing perhaps the first 2 or 3 rounds at most...but to make it this far, it's definitely due to something irrelevant to his (mediocre) talent. Honestly, I'm willing to bet that if he had participated in a completely blind audition such as "The Voice," he wouldn't have passed the 1st cut.
@trakkee - music, like any other form art , is such an individual thing. what you may find good, others may find offensive. bottom line? this kid accomplished way more than anyone, even himself, ever thought he would in this competition and has endeared himself to many, many supporters. and THAT is an unquestionable fact. shayne can write his own music and songs, THAT is another fact. i'm willing to bet, after this, shayne doesn't need any other audition, blind or otherwise. haters? irrelevant.
His voice isn't really the kind of voice I like to listen to, I don't know it's something about the pitch or the tone, whatever. But I have to agree, he can sing quite beautifully now, his training gave him much more assurance and his voice sounds much clearer now. And this song just seems to suit him, he sang it really well ! Go go Shayne !
am i the only one who finds his voice really annoying. he sings good but only if his pitch was diferent...i dont know. sometimes sounds really fake to me.
Don't worry about it. Fan of other contestant's worthless comments won't make any difference. I don't normally care but just wondering what kind of people would leave comment like that. Not surprised. Shayne must be biggest threat for him. But this kind of behavior is pretty sad.
@syk0646 - i guess to each his/her own. cuz i haven't been blown away either by that other kid who dances well but singing, not so much....and it's a singing competition. and yet that kid continues to make it every single week. shayne fighting!!
@TheSwimfishies Yes, everyone has their own opinions. And even being a "singing" competition, everyone that knows anything about KPop, knows that being able to dance and sing at the same time, is a big plus plus.
@syk0646 - Kpop "idols" maybe but that's only one segment of Kpop. my wish for shayne isn't to be a Kpop idol cuz that lasts 2 maybe 4 years at their career height. i'd like shayne to be a musician--one who will continue to compose songs and make music for a long time...
@syk0646 Sorry, guess I was unclear. This: "everyone that knows anything about KPop, knows that being able to dance and sing at the same time, is a big plus plus" isn't really true if you aren't an idol (or trot) singer. That's all I meant.
@syk0646 My original point was that "kpop" isn't the be all end all of Korean music. If Shayne wanted to continue in Korea's music industry, he could do other types of music. He's pretty clearly not going in the direction of what you consider "kpop." But do keep in mind that kpop includes all kinds of music thats popular in Korea; it's not limited to pop artists, and includes R&B, hip-hop and others. And even though it was just a tangent, I'll also mention that trot is the oldest form of kpop...
@talklikearobot Well, when I think of KPop, I just think pop. So that's what I was talking about, when I was saying that. Just my own opinion, even if it's not 100% accurate. But I think we're getting off the point of my original comment? I was just saying that in my own opinion, which everyone is entitled to, especially on the wonderful world of internet, (ha), that Shayne's voice isn't my cup of tea, regardless of genre or musical direction.
@syk0646 I'm sure a lot of people do, but I just mean, obviously if you consider like, Epik High or BEG or well... any group (since they all have rappers now) kpop, rap obviously fits under that description, too, as do other genres. But lol, that's fine. I wasn't replying to your original comment (People have opinions. The world is round. Nothing new there.) I was replying to your comment about dancing. He's in a "singing" competition, not auditioning to be in the next big kpop idol, lol (=
@syk0646 Why are Chungkang’s fans so afraid of Shayne? Are they intimidated? Chungkang’s first performance was good but he peaked there. I even picked him out to win at that point, but his performance last week was embarrassing… his rapping was awful and out of time. I’m sure he can improve. You can’t really compare him with Shayne though who is a singer songwriter whereas Chungkang is turning into an over confident kpop dancer. It's a shame.
Out of all the mentor-student pairings, I think these two have the sweetest friendship. Shane is so thankful to Shin Seung Hoon, and Shin Seung Hoon takes care of him so well.
@Tsucgimoto - that's a pretty heavy dose of envy you got going there bud, so sorry to hear that. good luck this week shayne, you've already accomplished way more than you set out to do! nvm haters. keep inspiring other musicians out there who'd also want to make it on their own...they're the ones that matter, along with your supporters! :D
@Tsucgimoto If his voice were nothing compared to the others he wouldn't be on the stage, however, he is. Thus, he must be at least as good as the others. If there were bigger complaints I would not have said anything, but there aren't. The definition of a good voice is not strong and loud. A voice should be unique and captivating, which he has. He may or may not win, but one can't deny he is a good singer. That is why I believe Shayne Orok can raise to the top, irrespective of his ethnicity.
@Tsucgimoto Well, I'm not going against you since it's your own opinion. I personally don't think a voice could be terrible yet captivating, perhaps it's captivating for some and terrible for others. (A bit off topic, sorry.) Anyways, I wish all the contestants good luck, may the greatest singer win!
@Tsucgimoto Being a good singer is not only base on vocal powers. Only stupid people think that singing is all about strong voice. Even if you have the strongest voice or the most powerful range if you don't hit the right notes and don't send the right feelings and message of the song then it's nothing!! And to be recognize as a good singer you have to have your own style that will mark to people to remember you. Ethnicity is not the issue. If that's the case then koreans has the advantage
love this song so much
