  • i mean doctors and other freemans

  • fucking russian students. 90% is in america

  • Very interesting! Good idea!!!

    Sidney - Brazil, Guarulhos city

  • well well.. still thinking of ways to destroy, iguess it will never end

  • Thunderbirds are go!!!

  • they should have turbines instead of propellers

  • 3 mph and how would a gas turbine like that no get wet

  • @USAmilitarypower => with a schnorchel, i think...

  • @USAmilitarypower U werent paying attention. They didnt mention that the underwater turbine was gas drivin. They only said that the flying props were turbine gas drivin. They coulda used some other set up for the sub prop.

  • @crashroader true dat

  • Don't know why Russia had a problem with it - Sky Captain's seemed to work well.

  • In peace times, it would be a great touristic vehicle. Imagine flying over the Caribbean, and then submerging to see the reefs!

  • @solnegrolunaroja Interesting suggestion..

  • @cabbievonbump Thanks :)

  • Nice idea for a Bomber, fly as long as there aren´t any enemys and if some fighters apears, easily dive away.

  • 3 knots is about 5mph

  • Flying over the mines and sub nets. Guess they never thought about the RADAR SETS!!!!!!!!! Dumbass Russkies. That thing was so unaerodynamic.

  • @BillWa it was in 1931

  • This is your brain on Stoli.

  • Russia know what to do.

This is only a mode for socializing with occidentals.

The big is done, we can't come back now, peace to all.

They are, in my opinion, good people, but some vagabonds in the factory,

haven't understand than must work and do not trouble with police.

If it is not! We go all to collect fennel on the roadside.

    :-)

  • I would actually put something like this into production. This is about the most ingenious idea that could be made at the time. This plane alone (as long as it worked and didnt leak) could have been a game changer if the cold war ever got hot. I would send about 10 of these guys in with fighter escort until they were about 2 miles from a carrier, then land and submerge them. Then they could easily come within range and sink the carrier which at the time was essential to having a strong navy.

  • @Patchu101 ....You would have never gotten within 2 miles of an aircraft carrier with these slow flying things. Your ass would have been shot out of the sky, and to land at a safe range away from cover fighters would mean at 3kts. you would never catch a carrier! Don't think too hard. That's why they designed this one to attack inside HARBORS!

  • Lucky for the Russian sailor/airmen this thing was canceled

  • lol ra3 idea sky/sea -wing

  • ROFL, that's funny.

  • Wow- those crazy, crazy Russians and their epically-weird unusable concept aircraft...  O_o;

  • @EVAUnit4A Wouldn't laugh to much, we in the U.S. had a jet-sub on the drawing boards for the Navy back in the 60's. Got about as far as this one did.

  • Interesting machine,it looks like a freak but not bad but i think this machine needs much more maintenance time.

  • will it blend?

  • Cool to bad they didn't actually make it

  • Instead of floats, have hydrofoils.

A sealed internal turbofan would work better.

Just fit an anti-grav and warp drive to something that looks like those attack subs on Marine-Boy.

  • but to much technical challenged for Russians.........END...and YouTube why i can't send my comments?

  • but to much technical challenged for Russians.........END...and Youtube why i can't send my comments?

  • but to much technical challenged for Russians.......bla bla..END

  • What a load of baloney, how would you even begin to thing you could get a reinforced submarine hull in the air.

  • @quakermaas I've read some material on the topic. The problem was not the weight, IL-2 for example was an armored aircraft. The problem was in the engines. It needed engines that would work in the air AND underwater. So they where trying to build an engine that would use an oxidiser so that fuel could burn without atmosphere. They were close, but the war didn't give them enough time and funds. They even had a prototype that could fly and submerge, but could not move underwater.

  • @quakermaas there are people out there that use that thing in between their ears to try to come up with a solution instead of just saying "that's impossible". We know what crew your with.

  • @alderaforall I never said it was imposable, try using what is between your ears and understanding what I wrote.

  • Those crazy Russians!

  • They've come up with far better plans for flying subs than that. This is just dumb.

  • This is worse than teenage mutant ninja turtles.

  • Same way they do it on submarines, Have closeable, sealable doors on the bottom of back wall of the front of the pontoons, valves on top to let the air out. To re-surface, open doors, use pressurised air to force out the water. When resurfaced, refill main air tank for next dive.

  • 3knts??? are you f^kin kidding me? scrap this project. Oh wait, i THINK they did.

  • @cooliodude96529 well, 3 kts was anyway the tactical speed of many nazi subs in WW2.

  • Explain to me how the pontoons go from floating on water, to sinking, and then rising again...?

  • @cgrisetti87 fill with water, fill with air.

  • @tryithere Can you explain how??? I understand the idea of buoyancy, but the idea of doing that is an engineering challenge because of tank pressure. It would involve pumping then refilling a reservoir tank that should have no ventilation...

  • Russians think there the best because they had the first misson into space

  • @TheHackedGamer people who aren't Russian are bitter because they didn't.

  • Naj pametniji mozgovi na ovom svetu. Takvim ljudima se treba prikloniti a ne smrdljivom zapadu.

  • @1968drale istina. Cak smo i u rodu s njima a mi se krpeljimo amerima.

  • In Soviet Russia, planes fly under water.. =P

  • would never work. because, uhhhh.... it just wouldnt.

  • i saw russian flying tank. Not expected, that there was a flying submarine also

  • never work

  • Dieselpunk

  • Wow sounds simple in theory but nearly impossible like the atomic jet engine...

  • looks like a reasonable design

  • huh,id use it

  • the only practical direction like this is having float pontoons that can go underwater with people while the rest of the plane acts like a boat on the surface. calm water stuff for tourism

  • What complete bullshit. the hist channel is doing to much crack yo!

  • What is the point of delivering a torpedo with a submerged flying submarine, when they had plenty of biplanes that carried torpeoes and had no trouble sinking destroyers and battleships? The British used their Fairey Swordfish torpedo bombers to sink a large chunk of the Italian fleet in 1940. This impressed the Japanese so much it inspired them for their Pearl Harbor attack.

I doubt this project ever existed. It is practically impossible with today's technology let alone that of 1935.

  • u know what? this may seem like a weird idea but damn think about how useful this can be at war...

  • russian flying dick!

  • vodka is bad for the mind

  • @xWEHRWOLFx ...and good for the military as we see :D

  • The idea of having a squad of planes that are undetectable because they are submerged.... Frightening. Especially if this was once a Nazi idea to deploy against Briton.

  • This must have been from the golden days, when THC was worth something.

  • @MacRaeWarrior. I am the guy who did all the 3d graphics and animation for the Secret Aircraft of WWII documentaries. You are so right, golden days when THC didn't suck so much. After Secret Aircraft of the Superpowers these idiots decided not to buy more shows from that production company and the company went out of business. I could have made so much more money. Now we have Iceroad Truckers, and other much more "cerebral" shows.

  • @Humbertusmarius During the time 0:12 through 0:14 you flashed the wing cross section too fast. did you have the in the wind tunnel with data? or did this one not get developed that far?

  • @Humbertusmarius During the time 0:12 through 0:14 the wing's cross section got flashed too quick to see the shape. did it get developed that far? put into the wind tunnel sim? or just the looks of it? looks good. just thinking the weight of the pressure frame and propulsion system always being too heavy.

  • LOL the whole idea of this is crazy!! Why lessen tha ability of a Plane by making it transform into a Sub? Sub = Slower - less capable attack capability - Less Range -vunerable in transistion.. Forget the impossible technical end, the whole idea is just stupid even if it could work.

  • @Dreadlk

Which is why I doubt this idea even made it beyond the concept stage. Most likely somebody had a wild idea but they realized it's both impossible and impractical. This is a sensationalist video.

So far nobody has ever made a flying submarine. Or submerging airplane for that matter.

The Japanese had a better idea of an airplane launched from a submarine.

  • Call Dr. Evil! I want a dozen on layaway! cocaine smuggling kingpin here I come!

  • wont work to many places for saltwater to get into the motors and the tail is under desighned to compensate for the weight difference also the wings are to small to carry the extra weight just a good idea on paper but in truth just wont work to keep it airborn back to the drawing board try agian only the russians could come up with a flying rock lol

  • Russians are just creative.

  • LOL i builded something in lego like that 5 years ago.

  • Bet there was a screen door on it too...

  • @jtp0321 ahhhahahahaha.....Is there an underwater BBQ pit...hehehehehe

  • FPOS (Flying Piece Of Shit)

  • So the technology required was too complex back then; what about now?

  • @GoldGriffin80

Well, so far nobody has ever made a flying submarine. Not even tried. So far I've only seen one CAR able to submerge, and even that is nothing more than a funny toy which is far from practical.

I think the massive wings of plane would mess up the maneuverability underwater and the batteries need to be strong enough to power it underwater. To make it all watertight would make it heavy and the water trim tanks add to the weight. Making the jet engines water proof? Very difficult.

  • lol 3 knots? Thats damn slow

  • this its incredible

  • This is so fucking awesome!

  • the japanese also invented a submarine carrier, that could launch 2 planes.

  • @nairda55555

    Admiral - Attack

Crew - we lost all our planes

    Admiral - BENZAIIIIII!!!

  • Только нашим могла придти в голову такая идея. Хотя идея классная. Хочешь летай, хочешь прячься под водой. Может уже существует и не в мультике?

  • /watch?v=5jTKC9CMOiE

  • Just think: If he was attacked and captured, the pilot could say he was the first pilot of a plane to be attacked by a depth charge.

  • @Perktube1 AHAHHAHAHAHAHH

  • cool idea too bad they didnt make

  • Cool idea, it could work too, the sub would be restricted to about, i'd guess 5m? Other wise the pressure hull would get very heavy, and engine components might fail. I would move the engines into the wings though, to stream line the hull, and help protect against sea water (which, believe it or not, is terrible for engines) I think I might have a new plan for this year.

  • The idea actually (sort of) made some sense. The real reason for it's design wasn't primarily tactical but strategic.

You see, the submarines of the time period (Pre-WWII) could take *weeks* before they arrived near the enemy. Then, after firing their torpedoes, they would take weeks to arrive back at port and reload.

This aircraft-submarine could fly to the target area in a matter of hours. Submerge and attack within a day and then fly home to reload within a couple of days of the attack.

  • @Hrimpurstala Sounds good, but 500 miles of range... For this design... Meant saving 2 days of sailing at most, while making one of the worst airplanes ever and one of the worst submarines ever.

I would understand if it were made single use, or as airpalne converting to sub that can go back for weeks. As it is, I believe, badly planned project since the beginning.

  • @krbosak Perhaps they should have abandoned the idea of submerging the entire craft and had a seaplane section and a submarine section?

  • ya i agree with WaiWu if we need to tell someone to stop fucking fighting someone just drop a fucking nuke on them

  • WHO NEED THIS!!! WE GOT NUKES NOW!!!

  • well that is indeed funny lol

  • Tom Swift, Jr.'s "Diving Seacopter" was a better idea.

  • so after it flies over the defense layers of mines ...and somehow gets through antiaircraft weapons and f22 raptors it somehow submerges and then it is greeted with faster subs that eats its lunch

  • this was an idea WAY before the f22 were even designed

  • One word : Stingray!

  • whehe can never be achieved...

Would be like flying a sherman with wings on it :P... real heavy

  • Alloys.

    Mixtures of metals.

Have the benefits of all of the desired metals, anyway; I think the 'Sub Plane' is genious for it's time.

  • I agree with what you mean, less so with the spelling of the crucial word.

  • I like it... I think this invention can be applied better for scientific research.. they should make it happen. (^.^)

  • How do you use cast iron on and steelon a plane or how do you use alumumun to keep the pressure of water from imploding

  • Those devilish ruskies

  • what show is this??

  • It's on every so often on The History Channel. I saw it about a year ago.

  • why shoe?! Russia always make something new ! weapons i mean

  • they can put tracks or wheels, so it can be a tank, and then legs...

    ha ha ha

    this is weird...

  • Just like the americans then hey

  • i just love your closed mindedness. Im glad the rest of the world doesnt think like you, otherwise, we'd all be blithering idiots.

  • its a rly good idea, have a sky completly free of targets, and then have targets com flying out of the water, causing major panic.

  • It's a fake. Russia don't need these shit because we already have wonderful planes and submarines.

  • that's not the point.

  • you are a defensive paranoid idiot 5oorok - go away

  • Shut you mouth, asshole. use a pincette for fap, yankee.

  • Yankee? You are a an arsehole.

  • Duh its a fake? It says "concept" in the title. You're very smart.

  • Oh really? Please, use your BRAIN to think - WHO may need this crap? Of course our government make mistakes sometimes, but it is a wrong case. Probably I am mistaken. Anyway I respect your opinion, and

JazzBassBloke too. But it is a stupid idea. And tnorton12000 says it just like he works in FSB. This all are stereotypes. Have ever you seen Fighting dirigible? =D All I want is to prove you that russia is not a USSR. Judging by comments, you all think so.

  • those russians are very crazy sometiems..

  • lol only the russians

  • Rubbish idea!

how too fly that thing have a tons of diesel engine and batter? and how to go dept if this crap thing if the frame is thin -.-

  • This is part of a documentary called "Russian secret aircrafts of WWII" or something like that, the project was abandoned because of the technical difficulties

  • cala-te pa

  • I would like to see a R/C version of this!

Maybe even, a more modern, jet-like craft? That would also be submersible, of course.

  • this is nothing special.

    why are you wondering?

it's an easy and smart concept :D

  • Not at the time, but I think you underestimate the world's finest engineers of today. If there was a true strategic need for a flying submarine in today's wars, there would already be one.

  • like the nazis and the americans , the soviets were innovationists!

  • thats a class idea ! ! !

only russians would come up with that

    ha ha ha ha

  • Hey uploader... would you happen to have this FULL clip of this part? I have it on tape cuz i recorded it myself onto VHS

  • thats bullshit.

  • i want one

  • me too

  • the flight propellers would turn underwater

    3 knots is really slow

underwater it was going about 20 knots

it has a really small prop for that much drag

i can just see one of the torpedoes hitting the middle prop

  • yeah but imagine use 20knots submarine engine+3x aircraft Engine. Its imposible to do that. Because if you put a 20knots engine its probably big comparate 3knots engine..so more weight and if your aircraft have extra Weight they can't fly..so the engineer i guess reduice in Submarin engine for the submarin can fly and transport full load Toperdo..its a miracle to do a Hybre aircraft+submarin so 3knot yeah its very slow under water but its more silent..

  • reading your message took an unbelieveble amount of effort, i have actually developed a sore head

  • hahaha! well said bunty1986

  • wouldnt the wings make it to lift under water?

  • true
